We’ve been arguing for some time that if you want to find intolerance, extremism, hate and bigotry in this country, it’s thriving on the left. The past week provides several bits of fresh evidence of this.
First, there’s the ABC News/Washington Post poll published last week that found just 28% think the Democratic Party is “in touch with the concerns of most people in the United States today.” Even among Democrats, only slightly more than half (52%) think the party is in touch with people in the country.
……it’s a shocking finding, given that Democrats have spent decades portraying Republicans as out-of-touch extremists who only care about the rich. Or, as newly appointed DNC chairman Tom Perez put it, Republicans “don’t give a sh– about people.”
The New York Times fretted in an editorial that “for the first time in memory, Democrats are seen as more out of touch with ordinary Americans than the party’s political opponents.”
Tim Ryan, D-Ohio, called it a huge wake-up call. “Having two-thirds of the country think that your party is in la-la-land, that’s a bombshell.”
In fact, IBD has for years been pointing out the Democrats’ drift to the fringe, using data from the IBD/TIPP poll and voting records in Congress.
As for the ABC poll being a wake-up call, the party’s leadership has given no indication that it’s even heard the phone ringing. Last we checked, the same people who drove the party to the fringes are still in charge.
Next we have a lengthy article in the left-of-center Daily Beast on Sunday by respected demographer Joel Kotkin, titled “The Arrogance of Blue America,” in which he details how liberals have grown increasingly isolated from and intolerant of those who don’t live in deep blue urban centers.” Many in the deepest blue cores” are, he writes, “developing oikophobia — an irrational fear of their fellow citizens” and are “abandoning the toiling masses.”
“The argument made by the blue bourgeoisie is simple,” he says, “Dense core cities, and what goes on there, is infinitely more important, and consequential, than the activities centered in the dumber suburbs and small towns.”
The problem is that even those ‘core cities’ in Blue states are considered ‘fly over’ rubes by the Dem hierarchy.
……More than two-thirds of Republican students at Dartmouth (69%) say they’d be comfortable with a roommate who had opposing political views. But only 39% of Democrats said that. Nearly half of Democrats said they’d be uncomfortable with a roommate of a different political persuasion; just 12% of Republicans said that.
……This intolerance is not just limited to “free thinking” college campuses, it shows up everywhere these days on the supposedly tolerant left. When The New York Times hired Pulitzer Prize-winning commentator Bret Stephens as a columnist, liberals went ballistic.
After Stephen’s first column ran, which focused on global warming and in which he argued that “treating skeptics as imbeciles and deplorables wins few converts,” liberals started canceling subscriptions and the Times was forced to defend itself for publishing such environmental blasphemy.
How ironic that the Free Speech Movement, which was started by left wing radicals on university campuses in the 1960s, against the ‘oppressive establishment’, has now become the oppressive establishment. Learning, healthy skepticism, courage of conviction and thoughtful analysis of the world have been gutted for a more dumbed-down, spineless, unprincipled, nihilist approach. Just the very act of rebelling against or challenging the agenda and the tactics of students who arrive at the college already radicalized, will get you death threats and social media hate speech. The inmates are running the asylum.
Liberals have become the fascists they warned us about. The Democrat party is the biggest hate group in America. They embrace ‘occupy’ thugs, ‘black lives matter‘ criminals, and ‘antifa‘ malfeasants. The Dems and the leftwing media own this violence. They foster it, praise it, and support it .
The lefties in the media have gone certifiably insane since Trump was elected.
CNN sponsored an assassination play, “Julius Caesar”, at “Shakespeare in the Park”, with the main character bearing a strong resemblance to Donald Trump.
Chris “Tingles” Matthews, who longs for his old position of giving Obama blow jobs, suggested that Trump should murder his son in law, Jared Kushner, because Kushner and wife Ivanka Trump are ‘just like the sons of Saddam Hussein, Uday and Qusay’ — both brutal murderers.
CNN launched a social media threat campaign against a blogger who poked fun at them with a parody video showing Trump knocking out a WWE character with CNN logo superimposed on his head. It backfired spectacularly.
There’s been a steady barrage of death threats, assaults, and filth-laden tantrums on social media from leftwing journos, college professors, and disgruntled Hillary/Bernie voters who hate the fact that Trump was elected. Tough shit.
Now they know how we felt the eight years Barky Obama occupied the White House.
The Left engages in some of the worst hate speech, violence, and threats on record.
They spew misogynist hatred toward female conservatives, fling racial slurs at black Republicans and Hispanic Republicans for refusing to be exploited and leaving the Dem plantation. They especially hate white Republican/Tea Party members and hurl psychotic death threats at them for good measure.
They persecute Christians for refusing to bake gay wedding cakes.
They hate cops, the military, and the American flag.
While Obama was in office, anyone who spoke out against his corruption, crimes, and Constitutional violations, was labeled a ‘racist, bigot, hater’, ad nauseum.
The Democrat party is imploding. It couldn’t happen to a better bunch of hideous lunatics.
