Democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani prevailed over former New York governor Andrew Cuomo and Republican Curtis Sliwa to become New York City’s 111th mayor.
Mamdani had been favored in polling to win over Cuomo, whom he also defeated in June. Cuomo decided to re-enter the race as an independent, and despite closing the margin, was not able to overcome his rival.
Mamdani, 34, will make history as New York’s first Muslim mayor and the first avowed socialist.
……Mamdani’s agenda includes “free bus service, universal child care, and his signature issue: a freeze on rent increases for the city’s 1 million rent-regulated apartments. Opponents say a rent freeze would harm landlords, who have also been hit hard by inflation,” New York affiliate WNBC-TV reported last month.
“Perhaps nowhere has the ‘communist’ label come up more than in relation to Mamdani’s proposal to set up a pilot program for city-run grocery stores. Billionaire John Catsimatidis, who owns grocery chains Gristedes and D’Agostino Supermarkets, said the program would ‘drag us down a path toward the bread lines of the old Soviet Union,’” the outlet said.
Mamdani reaffirmed this as his agenda at a rally in Queens last week, hosted by fellow socialists Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders.
Asked during a mayoral debate last month how he would pay for free buses, Mamdani fell back on the familiar Democratic position: tax the rich and corporations more.
The non-partisan Tax Foundation ranked New York the worst tax climate for business growth in the U.S. Its top individual income tax rate is 10.9 percent, on top of the 3.9 percent the city of New York also charges, which is on top of the federal income tax rate of 37 percent.
So a successful New Yorker pays over half of his or her income in taxes each year, and Mamdani wants to raise the amount still further.
There are about 4.7 million eligible voters in NYC. Mamdani received 1,036,051 votes.
2,055,921 people cast votes for the candidates. That still left 2,644,079 votes that were never used. NYC is fucked.
He’s a member of the Democratic Socialists of America and a self-described “muslim lefty”, but his agenda screams jihad as well as socialism.
Mamdani’s agenda:
“Muslims belong in city hall”.
He wants to spend $65M on tranny medical treatment — including for minors.
He wants to create government-run grocery stores. Yeah, that worked out real well in the Soviet Union.
He’s pro-PLO and Hamas.
He supported a terrorist who killed Jewish students in a super market.
He wrote a rap song about his love for Hamas. How cute.
He defended the mowing down and beheading of a British Soldier by two muzzie terrorists on a London street.
Mamdani really hates the Jews. At college, he co-founded the school’s chapter of Students for Justice in Palestine, a group that envisions Israel’s overthrow.
He also claimed he was black on his college application.
His wife mourned the death of Palestinian influencer Saleh al-Jafarawi, who celebrated Oct. 7 attacks.
Mamdani is a slick little crapweasel who appeals to radical muzzies and a generation of ‘resisters’ adorned with nose rings and multi colored hair.
Whenever a muzzie is elected mayor, the results are not pretty. The worst example is London, where Sadiq Khan got foisted into power. Despite turning London into a third world city, Khan was awarded a knighthood. Incredible.
Every city ruled by socialists has gone to shit. DemProgs have ruled major urban areas for decades, and they keep re-installing the same race-baiting corruptocrats. Talk about the need for “transformational efforts.” In the black community, riots, looting, vandalism, gang warfare, and murder have become a staple. They are out of touch, smug, arrogant, and effete.
Mamdani is a radical Islamist and a socialist. You would think the two ideologies are world’s apart, but they’re not.
The Left shields and defends Islam because they have a lot in common.
