He has to run against incumbent Mayor Eric Adams, who is standing as an independent, as well as Republican candidate Curtis Sliwa.
The only other Dem choice was Andrew Cuomo….the lesser of two evils.
Meet Zohran Mamdani.
Former Gov. Andrew Cuomo shockingly conceded the Democratic mayoral primary Tuesday night as dark-horse socialist candidate Zohran Mamdani surged to overtake the longtime frontrunner.
“Tonight is his night. He deserved it, he won,” a seemingly shell-shocked Cuomo, 67, said of the 33-year-old Queens assemblyman.
In a stunning upset, Mamdani defied polls and expectations as he notched a likely insurmountable 7-point lead over Cuomo, who hoped to make a political comeback after resigning in disgrace in 2021.
The first round of the ranked-choice voting contest had Mamdani ahead with 43.53% of votes, followed by Cuomo’s 36.3% and City Comptroller Brad Lander’s 11.41%, Board of Elections unofficial results show.
Mamdani carried roughly 424,000 votes to Cuomo’s 354,000, the results show.
He’s a member of the Democratic Socialists of America and a self-described “muslim lefty”, but his agenda screams jihad as well as socialism.
Mamdani’s agenda:
“Muslims belong in city hall”.
He wants to spend $65M on tranny medical treatment — including for minors.
He wants to create government-run grocery stores. Yeah, that worked out real well in the Soviet Union.
He’s pro-PLO and Hamas.
He supported a terrorist who killed Jewish students in a super market.
He wrote a rap song about his love for Hamas. How cute.
He defended the mowing down and beheading of a British Soldier by two muzzie terrorists on a London street.
Mamdani really hates the Jews. At college, he co-founded the school’s chapter of Students for Justice in Palestine, a group that envisions Israel’s overthrow.
He also claimed he was black on his college application.
………Mamdani’s rise has been aided by political savvy and strong connections. He inherited one of the city’s few effective political machines: the Democratic Socialists of America, which helped elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in a district overlapping his own. He has leveraged social media and a knack for blending policy talk with personal storytelling to build a large, engaged following—especially among younger, politically active New Yorkers. Polling suggests voters under 45, for whom affordability is by far the biggest concern, would overwhelmingly pick him as mayor right now. As a result, Mamdani is fast emerging as former governor Andrew Cuomo’s chief rival. Critics who dismiss his populist proposals without offering clear, compelling alternatives only strengthen his appeal.
………Mamdani’s plans for large-scale public housing would cost $100 billion—about the size of the city’s annual budget—and require more than doubling the debt limit. Developers have openly called the plan an “unmitigated disaster” that makes zero financial sense. His proposals for a Comprehensive City plan and zoning changes could theoretically lead to more housing—if they weren’t burdened with restrictions on market-rate construction.
His other proposals aren’t free, either. Mamdani would likely need to find a lot more than the $5 billion he has estimated for free child care, and close to another billion dollars to pay for free buses each year.
Mamdani is a slick little crapweasel who appeals to radical muzzies and a generation of ‘resisters’ adorned with nose rings and multi colored hair.
Whenever a muzzie is elected mayor, the results are not pretty. The worst example is London, where Sadiq Khan got foisted into power. Despite turning London into a third world city, Khan was awarded a knighthood. Incredible.
Every city ruled by socialists has gone to shit. DemProgs have ruled major urban areas for decades, and they keep re-installing the same race-baiting corruptocrats. Talk about the need for “transformational efforts.” In the black community, riots, looting, vandalism, gang warfare, and murder have become a staple. They are out of touch, smug, arrogant, and effete.
Mamdani is a radical Islamist and a socialist. You would think the two ideologies are world’s apart, but they’re not.
The Left shields and defends Islam because they have a lot in common.
They attacked this country on 9/11 and Dems pick one of them as mayoral candidate.
