The Cost of Illegal Aliens and Their Tax Scams

Incredible. Remember who ultimately pays for all of this.

Simultaneous studies, released this week by the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), show soaring costs of illegal immigration in Florida and demonstrate strong voter objections to the burdens placed on them by illegal immigration. A new Zogby International poll of 801 likely voters across the state found that, by an overwhelming margin, Floridians believe that illegal immigration is harming their state. Their perceptions are rooted in reality. A separate FAIR study, the Costs of Illegal Immigration to Floridians found that providing education and health care to illegal aliens and their families, and incarcerating criminal illegal aliens, costs state taxpayers more than $3.8 billion annually, more than double the costs measured in 2005.

The Costs of Illegal Immigration to Floridians found that taxpayers spend:

— $3.4 billion a year to educate illegal immigrant children and the U.S. born children of illegal immigrants.

— $290 million a year on unreimbursed health care for illegal aliens.

— $90 million a year to incarcerate criminal illegal aliens.

— The total represents an annual cost to each of Florida’s native-born headed households of $678.

The cost study also determined that the illegal alien population in Florida is now 950,000 persons. This represents 7.3 percent of the national total illegal alien population, and it is the nation’s fourth largest concentration of illegal aliens after California, Texas and New York. It is also about 5.2 percent of Florida’s overall population.

The Zogby poll found that:

71.3% of Florida voters say illegal immigration has a negative impact on the state. Only 14.4% believe it has a positive impact on Florida. — 83.5% of Florida voters believe illegal aliens have a negative impact on the state budget, versus only 7.9% who believe their impact is positive. — 57.5% believe illegal immigration should be reduced through better enforcement of immigration laws. Only 36% of Florida voters favor amnesty or legalization for current illegal aliens.

— 68.6% of Florida voters want worksite immigration enforcement to continue. Only 21.1% support the Obama administration’s decision to curtail worksite enforcement.

“Voters in Florida, like voters everywhere, want their elected officials in Washington and Tallahassee to protect their interests, their jobs, and their tax dollars from the impact of mass illegal immigration,” said Stein. “At a time when the Obama administration is intent on systematically dismantling immigration enforcement, and congressional leaders are considering a new round of amnesty legislation, voters in this key state are saying unequivocally that it is time political leaders stopped pandering to the illegal immigration lobby, and started enforcing laws that serve the interests of ordinary Americans.”

Illegals also know a good tax break when they see one:

Millions of citizens and non-citizens will apply for tax refunds that they don’t deserve according to a new report to be released by the Social Contract Press tomorrow.

The 51-page report, The Earned Income Tax Credit and Illegal Immigration: A Study in Fraud, Abuse, and Liberal Activism, by financial analyst and economist Edwin Rubenstein, will be released at a News Conference at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at the National Press Club (529 14th St., NW, 13th floor) in Washington, D.C.

The new report has just been posted at the Social Contract Press website, www.thesocialcontract.com.

“The Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) is the largest anti-poverty program in the United States — and the most illegal-immigrant friendly,” explains Edwin Rubenstein, author of the new report. In 2007 the General Accounting Office reported that between 27% and 32% of all EITC claims were “improperly paid.” That’s upwards of 6 to 7 million+ households — approximately $12 to 14 billion dollars of fraudulent EITC payments in 2007 alone.

According to the report, the fraudulent “tax relief” went to people who never paid a cent in taxes, and may have already defrauded the government of huge sums each year. “EITC scams are common, well-organized, and massive,” Rubenstein writes in the report. Only Medicare reported a larger dollar amount of monies acquired illicitly.

Public policy expert, James R. Edwards, Jr., in a statement prepared for the April 14 news conference, says that the “EITC [deprives] hard-working Americans of their own resources. It robs some to give to others. This is exactly the kind of so-called ‘tax relief’ Obama talked about during the campaign and in his sales job for his economic stimulus bill. Obama is redistributing wealth via the tax code and misleading the public by calling it tax cuts. Rather it’s welfare by other means,” Mr. Edwards said.

The EITC is the most accessible of the major entitlement programs and used by more people than food stamps and welfare (TANF) combined.

This hasn’t hit close enough to home for idiots like Janet Napolitano, John McCain, and the rest of the pro-illegal alien asshats in Congress and Senate.

  1. The age-old pesky U.S.-Mexico border problem has taxed the resources of both countries, led to long lists of injustices, and appears to be heading only for worse troubles in the future. Guess what? The border problem can never be solved. Why? Because the border IS the problem! It’s time for a paradigm change.

Never fear, a satisfying, comprehensive solution is within reach: the Megamerge Dissolution Solution. Simply dissolve the border along with the failed Mexican government, and megamerge the two countries under U.S. law, with mass free 2-way migration eventually equalizing the development and opportunities permanently, with justice and without racism, and without threatening U.S. sovereignty or basic principles.

Click the url and read about the new paradigm for U.S.-Mexico relations.

    1. TL Winslow,

The border is not the problem. Illegal entry and the fact that the entire border isn’t secure, is the problem.

I highly doubt that Mexico or Americans, for that matter, would agree to merge the two countries under your “solution”. The only justice we seek is full control of our borders, deportation of illegals, and retribution for the victims of crimes (rape, theft, assault, murder) caused by illegals.

“Racism” has nothing to do with it. Read Title 8 of the U.S. Code, sections 1324 and 1325. It’s the law, regardless of the ethnic individual/s who cross the border without proper authorization. By the way, Middle Eastern terrorists have crossed our borders as well.

The solution: Build a wall high and deep. Post guard towers equiped with sub machine guns. Establish more checkpoints. Dig trenches. Use movement sensors. Send the U.S. Army Corps of Enginneers to search for and destroy underground tunnels. What we are experiencing is not immigration; it’s invasion.

We have the right and responsibility to protect our nation from potential threats. We use FISA to track internal terrorist threats, we need to be just as serious about our borders.

  2. Maricopa County, Arizona is the best area in the country for reliable illegal alien crime statistics. The county sheriff, Joe Arpaio, has aggressively decided to combat illegal alien crime in his county. He has partnered with federal ICE through the 287 (g) program which trains local law enforcement personnel in determining and dealing with illegal aliens. He has a well staffed Triple I Unit (Illegal Immigrant Interdiction Unit).
The MCAO report from County Attorney Andrew Thomas features these startling numbers for prosecuted felony cases in Maricopa County, Arizona:

In 2007, illegal immigrants accounted for:

    10% of sex crimes convictions
    11% of murders convictions
    13% of stolen cars convictions
    13% of aggravated assaults convictions
17% of those sentenced for violent crimes
19% of those sentenced for property crimes
20% of those sentenced for felony DUI.
21% of crimes committed with weapons
34% of those sentenced for the manufacture, sale or transport of drugs
36% of those sentenced for kidnapping
    44% of forgeries
50% of those sentenced for crimes related to “chop shops”
    85% of false ID convictions
    96% of smuggling convictions

Illegal immigrants make up 19 percent of those convicted of crimes in Maricopa County and 21 percent of those in county jails.

Illegal immigrants only make up an estimated 9 percent of the county’s population.

It is estimated that each violent crime cost citizens $20,000, and each property crime cost citizens $4363 per offense.

All the more a concern is research that finds the likelihood of an illegal immigrant being incarcerated grows with longer residence in the United States and that the U.S. born children (anchor babies – considered citizens) of illegal immigrants are dramatically more likely to be involved in crime than their illegal immigrant parents. For instance, native born Hispanic male high school dropouts are eleven times more likely to be incarcerated than their foreign born counterparts.

    1. zeezil,

Sherriff Arpaio’s vigilance and success scares the living shit out of illegal alien proponents. They know the problem has grown across the United States, and citizens are no longer ignoring it. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve signed petitions, sent emails, and spoken with elected officials over this. The main obstacle in government is the overwhelming number of Democrat morons who refuse to listen to the public. They’re in control right now and we can expect a hard fight for the next four years. There’s a few Republicans, like John McCain, who are not just lame on illegal immigration, but they pander to La Raza, Aztlan, MeChA, and other radical groups. It will probably take something the size of the Tea Parties before they get the message. In the mean time, we need to work on throwing them out of office next election.

    Very good article.

I can’t say the ILLEGAL ALIENS are completely to blame for the shape of our economy, but they are a BIG part of the problem. The ILLEGAL ALIENS send BILLIONS upon BILLIONS out of this Country every year, money we will NEVER see again. Does this help our economy?

How about the BILLIONS the American taxpayers fork out for the ILLEGAL ALIEN BABIES, the schooling of them, the medical care and the list goes on, and on, and on.

How about the MILLIONS upon MILLIONS paid to jail ILLEGAL ALIENS for the crimes, then the cost to deport them. Does this help our economy?

Then you have these activist groups, the Catholic Church and the ACLU that want AMNESTY for these ILLEGAL ALIENS. It would be absolute suicide for this Country if AMNESTY were granted to the 20 million or so ILLEGAL ALIENS. We have more and more people out of work everyday and they want to add another 20 million to this Country? I say, “NO”!

If AMNESTY were ever granted to these 20 million ILLEGAL ALIENS, you can bet big money that 3 years from now, there would be ANOTHER 3-5 million ILLEGAL ALIENS demonstrating on our soil for AMNESTY.

An end MUST come to this illegal immigration. The perfect tool we have so far is E-Verify. It MUST be used by ALL businesses and Government Social Services. EVERY employee must be checked! If they are illegal, they are to be dismissed!

I believe it is time for all 50 States to pass a State law, like Arizona, Oklahoma, Mississippi, Missouri, South Carolina and a few others. It is time for these ILLEGAL ALIENS to go back to their home Country and get out of this Country. The problems they are causing will not go away until the ILLEGAL ALIENS are out of this Country.

IS FLORIDA READY FOR A STATE ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION LAW?

    1. Delaware Bob,

I agree wholeheartedly. The Federal, State, and Local governments need to start enforcing the law and go after the employers and all of the “sanctuary” groups who harbor and abet these criminals. We need a border wall, thousands of well-armed border agents, guard towers, and trenches. We also need to get the Army Corps of Engineers down there to seek and destroy every tunnel the illegals dig to sneak in underground.
We’ve been fighting this proposed amnesty crap every time it rears its ugly head in Congress.
