Update on The New Republic’s ‘Man in Iraq’

UPDATE 29 June, 2009
I received correspondence from Mrs. John Hatley (in the comments).

UPDATE 18 April, 2009

Hat tip to Jonn at This Aint Hell:

1SG John Hatley, the senior NCO of fabulist Scott Beauchamp’s unit, was convicted yesterday of the murder of four Iraqis and sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole.

The full story behind the shooting, and why:

The frothing moonbats will see this as ‘vindication’ for Beauchamp’s wild-assed tales, (picking on disfigured women, wearing a child’s skull on his head or running over dogs with a Bradley) even though he fully admitted  he lied.

His behavior was a disgrace and in no way reflected on the bravery, dedication, and honor of his unit. Beauchamp was and is a punk. His recant came after he succeeded in feeding maws of the anti-military/anti-war moonbats. I also had correspondence with Major Kirk Luedeke, the Public Relations Officer, who explained Beauchamp’s antics in detail.

1SG Hatley’s squad did not go into a village and select unarmed civilians for a summary execution. They chased down four armed terrorists who fired at them; capturing them as well as finding their weapons cache. In retrospect, they should have saved themselves the trouble and killed them on the spot.

The leftwingnuts are dancing a jig over a rare (albeit trumped up) conviction, when as I’ve mentioned, 99.9% of the accusations leveled against American troops fall flat either before they get to trial, or as a result of acquittals.

Case in point: John “the troops are cold-blooded murderers” Murtha made that accusation against the marines who fought at Haditha. They were exonerated.

Here’s another example of overzealous prosecution and subsequent exoneration:

You can expect a flurry of ‘justifications’ for Janet Napolitano’s moronic “threat assessment” on returning war veterans.

The worst thing about this is that American troops who fight so valiantly in the region of the world that breeds the terrorists who attacked this country, will now have to worry about doing what it takes to accomplish the mission and being prosecuted for doing so.

The consequences of releasing Islamic terrorist combatants from GITMO and other points of custody, is that they pick up where they left off.  The Left has more of a problem with us fighting Islamofascists hellbent on a world Caliphate, than they do with what it takes to stop them.

Whether you like it or not, 1SG Hatley’s actions saved the lives of Soldiers by stopping those terrorists dead in their tracks.

I had initially removed the First Sergeant’s contact information from the post, because there were concerns over privacy issues. Until this matter with Beauchamp was resolved, he needed to be able to conduct the investigation without too much distraction.

I think enough time has passed, and Beauchamp’s fraud has been exposed enough to go ahead and include the e-mail from his First Sergeant:

This is the ISG’s email response:

SFC McElroy,

I’m not in the habit of answering these email’s. It would be far too many. I appreciate all the support from home and I can assure you that not a single word of this was true. We’ve been fighting this fight for quite some time. Numerous soldiers within my unit have served on several deployments and this is my third year as a First Sergeant in this unit. My soldiers conduct is consistently honorable. This soldier has other underlining issues which I’m sure will come out in the course of the investigation. No one at any of the post we live at or frequent, remotely fit the descriptions of any of the persons depicted in this young man’s fairy tale. I can’t and won’t divulge any information regarding this soldier, but I do sincerely appreciate all the support from the people back home. Again, this young man has a vivid imagination and I promise you that this by no means reflects the truth of what is happening here. I’m currently serving with the best America has to offer. I have worked and fought closely with every soldier within my company and they are consummate professionals in an area most people can’t fathom. I’m proud of my soldiers and would gladly give my life for any one of them. Please continue to keep them with you in your prayers and thank God that we have these courageous men willing to make the ultimate sacrifice for their country, Americans, and the people of this struggling nation.

1SG Hatley

There’s also several responses from Beauchamp’s outfit that can be found here:

The comments include a concise refutation of Beauchamp’s allegations from Major Kirk Luedeke, the Public Relations Officer, as follows: (USED WITH PERMISSION)

I’ve been watching the events on the New Republic’s “Scott Thomas” piece with interest. As the 4th IBCT Public Affairs Officer- I can tell you unequivocally: there was NO mass grave discovered in this area of operations in conjunction with the building of a coalition outpost anytime in the past 12 months. None. Zero. Zip.

…..We are not in the business of suppressing his right to free speech…on the contrary- he’s free to submit whatever he wants, so long as it doesn’t put others at risk for operational security (OPSEC). Of course- by putting his name on such outlandish claims, he then has to account for what is clearly a series of false statements. So- obviously- it is left to reasonable people to decide who is telling the truth here.

….. Just about every Soldier these days has his or her own digital camera or video camera. Talk to anyone here- every unit down to squad level in our brigade is *required* to have a camera on every mission. It’s all part of being prepared for such a discovery. Surely- there would be photos of the skulls and mass grave if it truly existed, would there not? The reason there isn’t any photos, is because simply- the story isn’t true.

…..I know that if my organization claimed to have unearthed a sizeable cache of hundreds of explosives, rockets, nitric acid and other key components to make roadside bombs, otherwise known here in these parts as a “good news story,” media outlets would rightfully demand some kind of proof to subtantiate our claims. That’s why we take pictures of such things and provide them along with our press releases.

…..I invite Scott Thomas to come by the Dragon PAO shop at FOB Falcon- Bldg 301, Rm 119, and I’d be happy to share the DoD media policy with him. While he’s here, I’d love to discuss with him the mass graves, Bradley IFV dog hunting and IED burn victim he’s so intent on stating is fact. If he can provide the evidence, I will gladly retract every word I’ve posted on the subject. If he’s not willing to do that, then it kind of makes you wonder about his credibility, and that of the New Republic’s doesn’t it?

Best regards,
Major Kirk Luedeke
Public Affairs Officer
4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division DRAGONS FOB Falcon

I received correspondence from PVT Scott Thomas Beauchamp’s Co. 1SG.  I e-mailed him via AKO and did not expect him to have the time to answer, but I’m proud to say he did.  Looks like The New Republic’s representative lackey has a lot of explaining to do.

This was my e-mail to 1SG Hatley:

Date: Thursday, July 26, 2007 20:56
Subject: Re: PVT Beauchamp

I’ll bet you’ve been inundated with e-mails from Active Duty Soldiers as well as veterans, but please bear with me. I read the inane comments by PVT Scott Thomas Beauchamp and his “literary” efforts are indicative of someone who’s as bright as a 10 Watt bulb. Please pass this along to the rest of the Soldiers in your fine

You’re all doing a hell of a job. The United States Army is what stands between freedom and Sharia Law, and you should be very proud of what you’re doing. You’re helping to rid the world of Islamofacsists who want to transform the entire planet into a Caliphate. I served as a Soldier for over 30 combined years, and
I’ve been where you are now. It’s a tough job, but the Army’s done it for 232 years.

SFC Cheryl McElroy
Veteran of Desert Storm, Bosnia, Operation Iraqi Freedom

Oh yeah, it looks like Beauchamp is in deep shit. According to his good buddy Frankin Foer, the Chain of Command took his toys away:

The magazine’s editor, Franklin Foer, disclosed in an interview that Beauchamp is married to a New Republic staffer, and that is “part of the reason why we found him to be a credible writer.” Foer also said Beauchamp “has put himself in significant jeopardy” and “lost his lifeline to the rest of the world” because military officials have taken away his laptop, cellphone and e-mail privileges.

Well, fucking waaaaaah! Confiscation of electronic media is perfectly justified in this case. The whoppers he told have to be properly traced, and documented.

Let’s get something straight: There’s all kinds of milblogs out there, and most contain balanced, true to life experiences which in no way reflect badly on the military. Opinions notwithstanding, false accusations are generally not tolerated by the UCMJ.
He placed himself in legal jeopardy the minute he decided to present his spiteful little fantasies as fact.

Beauchamp did not provide any documentation for his three published columns. He is married to a reporter-researcher at the New Republic, Elspeth Reeve.

Nepotism, anyone? Gee, and we were beginning to think he got published on merit.

….Foer said the magazine is attempting to confirm every detail. “We are trying to be as deliberate and meticulous as we possibly can,” he said. “We’re not going to be rushed into making any sort of snap judgment.”

Oh, you mean like the ‘deliberate, meticulous’ methods you used to verify Beauchamp’s regurgitations? No snap judgement there.

As conservative bloggers yesterday continued to challenge the veracity of Beauchamp’s accounts, Foer said: “It is really unfortunate that someone like Scott, who was really only trying to tell his particular story, has become a pawn in the debate over the war and the Weekly Standard’s efforts to press an ideological agenda.”

Link:   http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/07/27/AR2007072700037.html

Newsflash, you Pulp Fiction Pimp: You threw gasoline on the fire of the ideological debate as soon as you published Beauchamp’s canard. You saw another America-bashing opportunity and you gladly participated. In your zeal to bad-mouth the United States Army, you got egg all over your liberal face, and you don’t even have the decency to be embarrassed. Congratulations, Foer.  You added one more item to your “stupid column”.

Thank you SFC Mac for posting all this. I am John’s wife. I am the one who emailed you when this awful Beauchamp situation arose. The Baghdad deployment was a time of sheer hell & chaos. It’s okay if you post that exact email I sent you back then, if you would like to. Please allow me to add my comment, which I have just posted on the “collegenews.com” blog site:

I am the “wife” of 1SG John E. Hatley. It’s amazing to sit back & read everyone’s comments, either for or against my husband. This is America and because of great & brave Soldiers like my husband, you have the right to say what you want and I put up with it, as do many others. For those who are against my husband: I forgive you for judging him cruely, the way you do. For those who knew my husband & or, served with him, thank you for your service. It’s amazing that the ones that are so critical and cynical against my husband, have never even served their own country & or been shot at by the enemy or have seen your fellow comarad’s die by gruesome means. Meanwhile as you sit & labor over what cruel things to write, our soldiers are back in Iraq, suffering with the intense heat & serving “you”…. Think about it. Remember that. I have personally comforted many widows in our Battalion thru the Baghdad deployment. Our Brigade lost 109 soldiers. In the previous deployment “Tikrit” our Brigade lost half that many. When you experience the horrors of war & see the tragic, intimate details going on behind the scenes, like the widows when they find out they cannot have an “open casket” funeral for their Soldier, it makes you want to cry for those who do not understand anything about what war is all about and what the Soldiers & families actually experience on a day to day basis. Doing studies & reading about past wars or current wars, is not a substitute for actually having been there. It is quite interesting to watch those judge others, based merely off reading something in print, either from a book or by an article in a paper… in the comfort of their homes. To question anyone’s honor, courage & judgement is just an area that is beyond ridiculous for those who have never (been there) seen the horrors of war. The intimate moments of sheer horror and devastation that Soldiers experience while watching their fellow soldiers die terrible deaths by the hands of insurgents or by IED’s… lends YOU time, to go about and judge others, whilst others die for you and fight for you and actually experience the horrors of war, that you so aptly read about, after the fact, in the comfort of your home. It is also amazing to watch people “go with the flow” with what “carefully chosen words” are used in articles, borrowing quote from what a prosecuting attorney says about this or that. If they use the word “slayed” or “Iraqi”, you automatically run with it and frame your perceptions immediately around that and only that. What if writers used the word “insurgent” instead? or “slayers of American Soldiers?” Words are powerful and it’s interesting to watch some people be led around by them and make examples of themselves. What type of example? ~HOOAH!!! Mrs. Kim Hatley

(Thank you SFC Mac, for your service and sacrifices.)

    1. Mrs. Hatley,

I thought about e-mailing you many times after the Courts Martial, but stopped short because I knew you were going through a personal hell, and I didn’t think you would want to hear from me. I figured that you would probably drop in on the site to read any updates I’ve posted, and that would be good enough.

I’ve said this so many times, it’s second nature: Americans have to realize we are fighting an enemy that does not play by the Marquis of Queensbury Rules, nor can they find Geneva on a map. Islamic terrorists understand our way of thinking better than we ourselves. They don’t hesitate to use children as suicide bombers or human shields. They’ve got considerable occupational experience at torture, mutilation, and gratuitous executions. They will feign surrender, then pull the fuse on the bomb under their shirt. Feeling sorry for these shit bags is misguided, and quite frankly, stupid.

Just think what will happen if/when President Punchdrunk closes GITMO.

What happened to 1SG Hatley is a travesty and reaffirms my belief that America (the government, included)no longer cares to meet the enemy head on and stop them before they kill more Americans.

The ground rules have been set by a leftwing media and a Democratic Party-controlled legislature hell bent on causing the defeat of the United States. This has been a trend since Vietnam.

I don’t know who ultimitely decided to bring charges against 1SG Hatley and his Soldiers for eliminating four armed terrorists who would have certainly harmed more Soldiers upon release, but they ought to be ashamed.

I hope in spite of everything you are doing well. Please keep in touch and let me know how your husband is coping.

  4. Flash Override

Now that 1ST Hatley has been convicted of four counts of premeditated murder of captives, perhaps you ought to rethink this piece.

    1. Flash Override, and Rob W.

Based on the facts of the incident and my experience as an Iraq war veteran: 1SG Hatley and his squad were attacked by a group of enemy terrorist combatants. They fired back, chased them down, captured them, and found their weapons cache. They should have killed them on the spot. As for the Courts Martial decision, justice isn’t always “just”.

You should know that 99.9% of the accusations leveled against American troops fall flat either before they get to trial, or as a result of acquitals.

As for Soldiers ‘gone amok’, if/when you ever find yourself in the same situation as boots-on-the-ground troops who have to make life or death decisions, then you can talk. The trouble with arm-chair critics (especially the leftwing) is that they have the luxury of jeering from the sidelines while others do the heavy lifting.

      SFC MAC

  5. It appears that Sgt. Hatley was just convicted of shooting 4 handcuffed Iraqis in the back of the head by a court-martial. Perhaps not the best source to debunk claims of US soldiers gone amok.

  6. James Dunne, Sgt, DV

Let me tell you about a soldier who has made a memorable impression on me…one that will never be forgot…While I didnt work for 1sg Hatley personally I was in the same company as him. when I Met him he was an E-6 Squad leader in 2nd Plt Aco 1/5 Cav….and I was a nube Pvt just from AIT assigned to gummi bears 3rd plt ( Sgt Curtis “eye of the pidgeon ” woods was my squad leader )…While as I remember John as being harder than a metal box full of woodpecker lips, constantly making us do THE RIPPER and always asking who wanted a shot at the title I also remember him being the most honest (albeit the loudest) and outspoken person in the company. He alsways did what he said and meant what he said. He never lied to anyone and never backed down from anything. Whether he was telling one of his PL’s they were ate up, telling the commander that is a seriously stupid fucking idea or putting his foot in a soldiers ass to correct his military bearing….he always took the time to show joes how to do it right…to say it correctly, he didnt just talk the talk but he did walk the walk..he always lead from the front….in true queen of battle fashion. He didnt care if you were Jarvis the training room bitch or Parker the NBC nerd…His personal view was that we were all on the same team and that we were all rifleman first and our assigned job second. Lord knows there were a lot of people in our company that always pissed me off but I always had respect for Hatley…Always had his head in the game and was always there for any joe, hell people often went to him for advice, even those who out ranked him….you know come to think of it I went to him more often with my issues than even my own Plt NCOS…it was kind of nice to have that impartial view of a situation and the honest answer that comes along with it….to say Hatley was opinionated would be the least….to tell you the truth do in my own opinion I think hes capable of doing what he is accused of? Im capable of it , your capable of it everyman is capabale of it…but put a man in a combat situation and put the lives of those hes charged with protecting in his hands….I know if it came down to murdering 4 guys who if released would probably go right back out there and shoot more american servicemen I probably would have done the same thing, if it comes down to them or my troops itll be them any day of the week and then 2x on sunday…yeah I still think hes capable, but do I think he did it? No ..especially having served with him for almost 4 years…NO…NO I dont believe he did that…I have always seen him being as a man of honor, respect and a high moral caliber! he always put his familiy and joes first and for that I have always had the highest respect for him always will…..So to the soup sandwhich football fucking monkey whos accusing him of these crimes….fuck you…cause all your gonna do is succede in tarnishing a professional soldiers’ spectacular career and fuck your life up in the process…I pray for you and that when your time comes to meet our makers I hope you go to the appropriate place that the higherpowers beyond man deem are worthy of a snake like you One question for you loser? if you had the oppurtunity to say no and stop did why didnt you…also what took you so long to say anything to anyone? I guess what they say is true…all good stories need time to be created……John: to you I say dont worry about this shitbird …Good luck and I know you havea lot of friends and soldiers on your side…if you need anything let me know…ill help out however I can …GRIM REAPERS!

  11. Guy,

If Beauchamp’s articles on TNR are a result of ‘creative editing’ by Foer and company, his original stuff isn’t much better. I’ve been to his myspace page. Suffice it to say, his literary style is stilted and immature.

  14. I was gonna say you should just ban that Bimbo asshat. 😉

He’s all over the place trolling on behalf of Beauchump. Maybe it IS Beauchump himself! Must be nothing else to do while he’s performing some shit detail on the rubber gun squad. Heh.

  15. Everyone,

I have placed Bimbat (JimBimbo) in the blacklisted category, so that future idiocy from his Communist headquarters in Seattle will be diverted to the trashcan. All he does is leave snide leftwingnut insults with accompanying citations from “sources” that are just as flaky as he is. He refused to intelligently confront the veterans and pundits alike (including myself and Michael) who directly repudiated his ‘arguments’. In his very first post on this blog he implied I was a “nazi”. From then on, I reciprocated with my own ‘terms of endearment’ inbetween the presentation of facts and recounting my own military experience. In other words, he threw the gauntlet, I picked it up, and shoved it up his ass. Since all he is capable of is retarded regurgitations of “Nazi”, “liar”, “murderer” and assorted other halfwit remarks which he thinks passes for effective debate, he is no longer welcome here.

But you can still let the little boy know how you feel by e-mailing him: jb@gmail.com

  16. Rob Thompson

Unfortunately, no matter how the Army’s investigation turns out, Beauchamp has confirmed in the general publics mind that our military consists of unruly Boy Scouts with heavy weaponry. Mission accomplished.

  17. I think the Special Olympics rule kicked in the moment JimBimbo’s hands touched the keyboard.

  18. very disappointed my comment has “disappeared”.

    Semper Fi.

I don’t think I deleted any of your comments. If you don’t find it on here, please repost it. If your comments don’t appear right away, it’s because they’re in a cue awaiting moderation.

  19. JimBimbo,
Vanity working on a weak mind. You get an A++ on assimilating misinformation but an F- on selling it here.

How efficiently SFC MAC has mopped the floor with you and yet you are too ignorant to see it.

So little girl, when you close your eyes tonight, rest assured the world in which you reside is safer because your betters stand on the wall and tell you in your puny dark existence that they will watch over you. Because if they stepped down, as you foolishly would have them do, you have precisely the type of worthless neck that the jihadis would dull their knives on.

When you get to Hell you and Neville Chamberlain can chat personally about the merits of appeasement.

For you and all the fools that say they support the troops by encouraging their enemies and opposing the mission – the cognitive dissonance must be deafening.

Don’t know who said it: “Cowards die a thousand times before their death, but the valiant only taste of death but once.”

JimBimbo – you’ve lost several lives on this board already. Better go find some meow mix before it’s too late.

SFC MAC, thank you for your service. Great blog – I’ll bookmark you and I’ll be back. JimBimbo brought a knife to an intellectual gunfight. Don’t know if you’ve ever seen Monty Python – but this comments page looks like that scene with the knight who has his arms and legs cut off and screams ‘come back and fight like a man’. Too funny.

Thanks for the compliments and support. I tolerated his bullshit alot longer than I should have. I don’t suffer fools lightly, which you can easily see from my responses to this jerk. He’s a loser with low self esteem who spends his life trashing the country and the military that protects his miserable, worthless life. Unfortunately, there’s a few of him in every gene pool.
    Come back often!

Are you saying they are lying or are you just pointing out the authors may have a different point of view than others?

    Which is it?

Because one matters, the other does not.

Then again, if you give us your first-person point of view of what you have seen in Iraq, we should hold your words in the same regard.

sfcmac: Really enjoyed the post, it was a pleasure to see someone take the trouble to contact this bozo’s unit. It’s useless, of course; trolls like JimBimbo don’t even believe the garbage they spew, much less the facts.

If this story is as it appears, Beauchamp is either in trouble for not reporting these events – something he could have done easily, legally, and outside his chain of command – or he’s in serious trouble for inventing stories for use as propaganda in time of war.

It’ll be interesting as hell when Beauchamp’s charged, and we find out what the other members of his unit have to say. If his first sergeant’s note is a sample, I expect this to be very embarrassing for TNR.

Thank god you’re not in charge. You and everyone else are spending so much time defending the military’s professionalism and here you are war-mongering and talking about killing untold numbers of innocent people in retaliation for 9/11. Again, we are blessed that someone with your moral compass is not in charge.

    Hey Anonymous bud or budette:

Did we mess around at Nagasaki or Hiroshima? You have alot of nerve talking about ‘professionalism’ when you’d be the first to capitulate to the Islamofascists. They’re not kidding sweetpea, they want to kill us. Want to fight a ‘Holy War”? You give ’em HOLY HELL. You seem to have more of a problem with a good solution to ending the modern-day Ottoman quest than you do with the prospect of them killing 3000 more on this soil or making the planet into a gigantic Mosque. Innocent people? I don’t think so. Not the way they indoctrinate. Innocent people die in every war. Patton firebombed Dresden for 10 days. Am I supposed to fret over something like that? You do what needs to be done to eliminate the current and future threat.
Buy yourself a new compass, sweetie. You’re way off course.

I want to thank you for publishing this email from Beauchamp’s superior.

I’ve been trying to find as much info as possible on this story. I have seen the criticism of Foer and TNR, but I wonder if they feel any remorse for ruining these two young people’s lives. How did they think the world would react? These two were led down the garden path, so to speak, by their elders who should have known better.

    Shame on TNR.

    Sister Rosetta,

Like most knee-jerk liberal pubs, they have no remorse. Just look at the absence of retractions in the NYT. They engage in some of the most yellowish journalism I’ve ever seen, but don’t have the decency to be embarrassed.

  31. sfcmac,

thank you for all your service. All your doing now. All the best to our troops.

  32. “Even your insane fuhrer’s government has been forced to admit it.”

Statements like this make no real arguments. These are childish insults. The truth is the network of Islamic radicals and suicide bombers have been there for decades. Blowing up embassies around the world. The world is now experiencing what Israel has experienced since 1948.

Equating names of Hitler to Bush is an ignorant rant and false labeling. Bush does not seek, nor do Americans seek own the entire world, nor do we think that only blonde, blue-eyed people are superior, that eugenics is good, or that gas ovens must be used to exterminate entire people by race.

If you continue to label such false accounts, none of your information or comments can be taken seriously. Hitler was responsible by some accounts for up to 72 million deaths. We lost over 400,000 Americans defeating him. He invaded all countries for his vision of German conquest.

America toppled a Dictator, a Tyrant, a worshipper of Stalin(who was responsible for another 20-60 million deaths), who was performing his own small genocide. Who has invaded and gone to war against two countries, openly supported terrorist, suicide bombers, and had visions much like Hitler.

Bush on the other hand and Americans all want Iraq to succeed as an Independent nation, with free liberty for real, for the first time in its history, without tyrants and dictators, without Iran or Syria directing its course, but for IRaqis themselves to grow, learn how to live freely without being brainwashed by extremist Imams or tyrants that own all the media.

So your insults, name-calling are not just inflamatory, but ignorant as well.

There are success stories happening every single day in Iraq. Iraqi people rising up, meeting the challenges. As with any young democracy that has been under corrupt influence, these people are struggling with new ethics based upon equality for all, not based upon racial or religious boundaries. But many are secular and many want a change. It is happening and we must stand by them.

Because if we leave to soon, without a secure Iraqi military and government, then tyrants will step in again. Surrendering, after we won, after we toppled Saddam, and during an insurgency is the worst thing this nation can do now. No country will ever trust our motives again and the IRaqis who stand by us now will be murdered, tortured and oppressed again.

Is this really what you want? Are Iraqi lives so worthless? Are Iraqis no more valuable than European anglos? Is this the low expectations of racism?

  33. Michael,
Thanks for your concise summaries and point by point refutation of Bimbat’s idiocy. I told him basically the same things in my responses, but he put his fingers in his ears and said “LALALALALALALA I CAN’T HEAR YOU”…you know like kids do.

“The Iraq War makes it harder to go after terrorists.”
Actually, it brings the terrorist to our military for kill and capture. This is a solid fact. It also exposes their flanks, their ratlines and all the connections and contacts. After our military invaded Afghanistan, terrorist like Zawakari fled to Iraq. Our soldiers hunted him down in Iraq, killed him. The same with many more terrorist sent to Iraq by Al Qaeda have been either killed or captured. The same murderious thugs trained for murdering innocents that were once hiding out in Afghanistan are now being shipped to the front in Iraq. Our military efficiently kills and captures them. As for the nutjob fanatics coming from countries like Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Somalia, Algeria, Sudan, etc., it also exposes their networks around the world anytime we capture these individuals. It leads back to the recruiters in these countries, the Imams and the terrorist. Now, more than ever because of the toppling of Saddam, we have a clearer picture of who our true enemies are in this Islamic Jihad. A Jihad that hss been fought against us for the last 37 years since 1979 at least in Iran.
“It undermines the political cooperation that’s necessary to pursue terrorists…,”
That is not true. Political cooperation has been at its highest both up front and behind the scenes between all Western countries and including many other Middle East countries, plus Pakistan, and Afghanistan is now battling the Taliban and Al Qaeda.
It is organizations like the ACLU and media like NYT, Le Monde, etc., that have undercut cooperation, hindered progress and sabatoged intelligence gathering techniques here in America and abroad in Europe and the Middle East. Our media, the communist inspired ACLU has been our worst enemies.
We are also now developing crucial human intel in Iraq that we did not have for the past 35 years. We are now fully infiltrating IRan from both sides in Afghanistan and Iraq, not to mention Syria as well.
Strategically, this was a brilliant move by our military leadership advocating the overthrow of Saddam on multiple fronts: a) strategic, b) political long term, c) humanitarian relief, d) freedom and liberty for moderates.
Strategic: 1) surrounds Iran and pressures their country to expend enormous resources on intel, weapons, etc., 2) and allows development of our own human intel in Farsi, Arabic cultures. 3) Allows placement of bases for future attack scenario in case of nuclear disarmement warfare against Iran.
Political: Gives freedom of movement from political refugees and possible new intel sources and informants to cross borders from Syria/Iran. This gives increase leverage to help a new revolution in Iran. This is why Iranian leaders are lashing out, nervous, oppressing their peoples protest, torturing and imprisoning innocent Iraqi people and college students. College students who want a new Iranian government that does not oppress their people.
Humanitarian: For the first time in Iraq in 35 years, the outside world, the UN, Western medical care and relief agencies are now fully involved in helping Iraqi people. Vaccinations for all children. Simple things like typhoid that killed thousands are now being eliminated. Healthcare, clean water and sewage is being made available, eliminating disease and death. Food, nutrition, natal care and education are now all being lifted up out of third world standards. Americans by the millions are donating supplies through American troops on the grounds. Environmentally the marshlands are being restored for fishing harvest and agricultural land is being revitalized so farmers can feed the Iraqi population. All of this was ignored under Saddam. Besides the over 300,000 mass graves, torture prisons, etc., being stopped, now ordinary Iraqis will not die due to diseased water and sewage, or lack of medicine.
Liberty: Moderates for the first time have a voice in Iraq and Afghanistan. As protection is given by American forces and Iraqi forces, more people will stand up for their new freedoms just as is happening across Al Anbar, in Mosul, Kirkuk and many parts of Iraq. People are rejecting Al Qaeda, extremist Shia militia in favor of Rule of Law, Free Markets, Free Media and Elections. They want a bright future for their children and millions are fighting for it. Over 300,000 Iraqi forces are now trained as police, army and special units. They are trained with Western style motivations of ethics and duty. They are trained to think independently and to protect their people, not torture them. All of this is new to the Iraqi people after 35 years of tyrannical leadership. It is slowly taking hold. As Iraqis rise from their historical darkness under Saddam and begin to embrace freedom, rule of law, equality, elections and capitalist ideas, they will not want to go back to the old ways.
“and it has served as a recruiting tool for new terrorists.”
For suicide bombers, yes who give their lives once. But most opinions in the Muslim world have changed and moved down regarding Al Qaeda and suicide bombing. There was a recent poll which I need to find that shows these facts.
Terrorist, Islamic radical Sharia supporters have long existed underground. They’re now being exposed, challenged, and condemned on many fronts around the world, where in the past they got by without notice. This is good news and must be done in this long war ahead of us on all fronts.
The Iraq/Afghanistan war are only the tip of the iceberg. Military options alone are not enough. Diplomatic, political, financial, market driven pressures must also be applied around the world against such hateful ideology.

Even your insane fuhrer’s government has been forced to admit it.

  35. Here’s the deal BimBat:

You’ve evaded questions on your military service and citizenship. You’ve proven throughout your repulsive shitty diatribe that you hate the United States and the U.S. Army. You’ve skirted all the evidence presented on WMDs, Al Qadea, and Bill Clinton’s (and the Democrats’)felonious incompetency. You’re not just a foreigner, you’re worse: a Eurotrash dipshit who is thoroughly ungrateful for the protection we’ve provided for over 70 years, 50 of which was to ensure you didn’t get annexed to the Soviet Union.

If you are not from a foreign country, you should be. Your use of the pronoun “your” instead of “our” in reference to our country and the military is indicative of someone who should board the next plane smokin’ to an overseas destination, and become an expatriot.

You can only spew imbecilic responses i.e. “Lies”, “Conspiracy”, “Nazi” and various other immature pejoratives. You have a definite liking for the Islamofascist cause, and you expect others to follow suit. Don’t count on it sweetpea. You bring nothing to this blog other than snooty immature comments and a thorough lack of comprehension of the world and the threats beyond your back yard. All of which proves you’re not worthy to to lick our boots. When you’ve humped a ruck instead of Galloway’s leg, you can talk. Until then, whatever asinine comments you leave here from now on will be deleted. We have an abundance of posts that prove you’re a complete ass. I’ll still make sure that Bill Roggio, Michael Yon, and others get to peruse your bullshit if for nothing else, to laugh and tell you to fuck off.

  36. Bimbat:
Uh no sweetpea. The intent is to show all the Soldiers that there are at least a few of you moonbats that aren’t worth the sacrifice and don’t even bother to act as if you were. Chickenshit. I’m sure they’ll really be delighted. Oh by the way, you’re not an American, are you? You’re not even living in the U.S. and you have no fucking right to even criticize any U.S. troops. What are you? Eurotrash?

  37. Forward to your heart’s content, christian wingnut torturette whose idea of supporting the troops is to kill them. You are a disguisting excuse for an American. You hate your country and everything it stands for, to the point where you’re willing to send people to die for your vanity. The best thing you could do is declare your allegiance to the “islamofascists,” because you’re already working for them.

  38. BIMBAT:

Why do leftistnutroots spend so much time “supporting the troops” with spiteful comments?
Oh and by the way: I’m going to forward your comments and e-mail to some of those Soldiers and folks like Bill Roggio and Michael Yon. I’m sure they’ll be pleased to know how much you think they’re “dying for nothing” to protect your freedom. Chickenshit.

“A report, released Friday by the Special Inspector General for Iraq Reconstruction, details how only 435 projects out of a total of 2,797, at a cost of $5.8 billion, were accepted by the Iraqi government, resulting in many projects being effectively abandoned or inoperative despite the United States declaring them “successfully completed”.”

Stuart W. Bowen Jr. himself reports 84% completion rate, independently appointed by the Congress and does not answer to the President. The report release issued is on his terms and times and that of Congressional oversight, not that of the executive branch.

Please provide a link to the story in NYT so we may read the entire story in context.

The Iraqi reconstruction efforts were indeed “successfully completed” as per the SIGIR’s own words at his website.

“In 2003, the Congress appropriated nearly $21 billion to the Iraq Relief and Reconstruction Fund (IRRF). Today, more than 98% of these taxpayer dollars have been obligated, and more than 84% have been expended. Most IRRF projects are now complete, and most of the remaining ones are estimated to be complete by the end of 2007.

    Bimbo said…
“The war on terror is different from the Iraq War. The former is the equivalent of the anti-piracy efforts of the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries (and in fact now), except with higher stakes.”

This is not shared by any serious terrorist expert. Maybe you want to quote sources? Or is this your own opinion? Pirates on the high seas exist in Somalia and around the Asian coast. That is equivalent to earlier piracy. However terrorist that murder 3,000 innocent people with the intention of murdering more(stopped by brave Americans on flight 93) and have murdered innocents around the globe for the express purpose of Islamic Jihad is acts of war perpetrated thru proxies, supported officially and unofficially by Muslim countries and individuals against Western civilization around the globe. Thus Syria/Iran = Hezbulla/Hamas. Muslim Brotherhood/Egyptian Jihad = Zawahiri. Saudi Arabia/Wahhabism = Osam bin Laden/Saudi suicide bombers in Iraq and WTC 2001.

“The Iraq War is an insane imperial struggle foisted on the U.S. by a lying president and his party.”

The Senate and House Select Intelligent committees had access to intelligenct from the CIA, NSA and DOD. They voted for war. Many are now trying to recant their vote. This is not an “imperial struggle” by USA. The USA does not grab and rule countries like the former colonizations by UK, France, Germany, Netherlands, Spain, Italy, even tiny Belgium and Portugal, or for that matter former Soviet Communist Stalin who oppressed Eastern European countries like Poland, Czech Republic for years, imprisoning, torturing and forcing slave labor.

In contrast. America freed all the countries attacked by Hitler and helped them to reestablish rule of law, elections and rid itself of fascism.

I guess in your eyes Bimbo – only Europeans deserve freedom from tyrannical dictators?

“Stuart W. Bowen Jr., of the Inspector General’s office, blames Iraqi-installed finance minister Bayan Jabr for the failure of the transfer process, whose installation by the Iraqi government he says caused the process to “cease to function.””

So, he’s blaming an incomeptent bureaucrat in a new, struggling Middle East democracy. This is good and his function to do so. To put pressure on the Iraqi government.

Please provide the link. Try to stop hypervintilating with false accusations. It makes you appear very immature, unless. Are you a teenager?

While I think there have been mistakes during the war in Iraq, they pale in size and comparison to those made in WWII. Within the first few weeks of D-Day, over 10,000 soldiers died. Supply lines were routed to the wrong beaches, etc., causing problems. Within a few months, hundreds of thousands died. But our nation did not give up, give in, quit, complain, whine, moan, or declare surrender to Hitler.

This is a good example to follow, one that we need to fight the rise of fascist Islamic tyrants and their proxies. Iran, Syria, Wahhabist, Muslim Brotherhood, Sunni and Shia radicals are fighting a war daily around the world. Murdering, torturing, raping, intimidating the local populace of many countries: Thailan, India, Bangladesh, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Sudan(over 2 million dead), Iran, Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, Libya, Algeria, Phillipines, Eritrea, Somalia and the list goes on, including riots and violence in France.

We are in a long term struggle of liberty versus Islamic Sharia law and racist oppression. Against the last remaining tyrants and dictators on this planet who murder innocents daily in the name of Allah.

Please wake up. Stop being afraid. There are brave VOLUNTEER soldiers who are fighting these lost souls around the world. The only thing they ask is for you to support their efforts here at home while they are away. Instead of babbling on out of fear, anxiety and ranting conspiracy theory, get a grip on yourself, buck up and help out our soldiers where you can. Or, are you against the Afghanistan mission too?

Under President Bush, two countries have been given liberty to decide for the first time their future without tyrants oppressing them. 50 million people free. 12 million Iraqis voted 3 times for this freedom.

They deserve their chance at liberty just like Europe did and us Americans. And we need to stand by our troops.

  40. Bimbat:

That’s all you’ve got in your verbal and mental arsenal isn’t it? You’re low on ammo, sweetcheeks. Baseless, stupid regurgitations. You refuse to answer any of the questions I asked, you refuse to see what the Soldiers have to say, and you’re basically a chickenshit. It’s nice to know that you ‘support the troops’ by informing them that you think they’re ‘dying for nothing’ against Islamofascism. You’re such an ass. Answer my questions. Better yet, enlist and show how much you really love your country. If you’re even from here, that is. Chickenshit.

  41. C’mon Bimbat,
You can come up with better retorts than that. And again: Put up or shut up.

  42. What’s your means of “thanks?” I’ll tell you what it is: “Troop! Thanks! Now go die for nothing.”

  43. Loves to wallow in body counts, you say? Look back through this thread, and you’ll see that the wingnuts were the ones posting body counts. Fact is, the WMD stuff was a lie. So was Saddam’s terror links. The White House invaded Iraq on a lie, and in doing so let Bin Laden escape. Once there, they botched the occupation, and turned to torture, the last refuge of a loser. And now we sit, slowly bleeding while the wingnuts who “support the troops” down to the last drop of their blood are too afraid to admit the truth. Why do you hate your own country as much as you do, and why do you regard the lives of your comrades as so worthless? Isn’t it a pretty high price for stubborn pride?

We’d have a much higher price to pay had we not fought back. Again, you don’t know what the fuck you’re talking about. The terrorist thugs at GITMO recieve better meals and living conditions than the Soldiers who guard them. You’re all too willing to swallow the MSM and leftwingnut pabulum instead of listening to the Soldiers on the ground over there. You’re intellectually lazy and and poor liar to boot. Why do you hate the country and the military so much? Every comment out of you is spiteful insults toward the troops.
All you do is come back with “murder and lies”. You’re the one with a hatred for this country. It oozes out every word you write.
I’ve seen not one iota of thanks or praise. Go to those Soldiers websites if you want the truth (if you can handle it). The whole trouble is you can’t stand to be proven wrong.
Again, put up or shut up.

  44. BIMBAT:

The Left loves to wallow in body counts and pervert the sacrifice of U.S. troops into an anti-war statement, but they never praise, or appreciate, or really support the military.

Veterans have more class, dignity, and bravery than you ever will. They go through hell doing the missions they’re sent to do. You’re not fit to lick our boots.

We know you have issues, but the rest of America is getting sick and tired of the Left’s pissing, moaning, and imbecilic regurgitations i.e.: “Bush Lied”, “Bin Laden is just misunderstood”, “the WMDs were fake”,“Rosie’s right about the World Trade Center, just Google it!”, …blah…blah…blah….”

Gawd, what tripe. I don’t know who you’re trying to convince, but I can tell by the reaction of Soldiers (including those on the ground in Iraq and Afghanistan) and veterans, it ain’t working.

Your subsequent lunatic conspiracy theories are a sign of puerile regression and are indicative of a man in desperate need of psychological therapy.

I know you get a kick out of belching “liar”, “fascist”, “nazi”, and “myths”, every time I present logical arguments to your historical omissions.

Since you call the folks who discovered Hussein’s WMD caches, and those who reported his terrorist-supporting activities “liars” you may as well include your beloved Dembats:

“Without question, we need to disarm Saddam Hussein. He is a brutal, murderous dictator, leading an oppressive regime … He presents a particularly grievous threat because he is so consistently prone to miscalculation … And now he is miscalculating America’s response to his continued deceit and his consistent grasp for weapons of mass destruction … So the threat of Saddam Hussein with weapons of mass destruction is real…”
    – Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Jan. 23. 2003 |

I will be voting to give the President of the United States the authority to use force — if necessary — to disarm Saddam Hussein because I believe that a deadly arsenal of weapons of mass destruction in his hands is a real and grave threat to our security.”
    – Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Oct. 9, 2002

One way or the other, we are determined to deny Iraq the capacity to develop weapons of mass destruction and the missiles to deliver them. That is our bottom line.”
    – Bill Clinton, Feb. 4, 1998

If Saddam rejects peace and we have to use force, our purpose is clear. We want to seriously diminish the threat posed by Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction program.”
    Bill Clinton, Feb. 17, 1998 |

We must stop Saddam from ever again jeopardizing the stability and security of his neighbors with weapons of mass destruction.”
    – Madeline Albright, Feb 1, 1998 |

“[W]e urge you, after consulting with Congress, and consistent with the U.S. Constitution and laws, to take necessary actions (including, if appropriate, air and missile strikes on suspect Iraqi sites) to respond effectively to the threat posed by Iraq’s refusal to end its weapons of mass destruction programs.”
    Letter to Bill Clinton.
    – (D) Senators Carl Levin, Tom Daschle, John Kerry, others, Oct. 9, 1998 |

“Saddam Hussein has been engaged in the development of weapons of mass destruction technology which is a threat to countries in the region and he has made a mockery of the weapons inspection process.”
    – Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D, CA), Dec. 16, 1998 |

“We know that he has stored secret supplies of biological and chemical weapons throughout his country.”
    – Al Gore, Sept. 23, 2002 |

Again, BIMBAT: just what kind of war would you support? Are you a “peace at any price” pacifist, or is there actually a point where you would grow a set of balls and say yep, we should not just fight back, but eradicate them and finish the job while we’re at it? What exactly is your definition of justifiable retaliation?

Save your vitrol for the cravenly politicians who voted to stand up to America’s enemies then punked out. Bubba Clinton could use some of your animosity as well, for essentially giving al Qadea the green light. This particular crop of Democrats (and you as well) are some of the most mentally and emotionally unstable people, ever. Once known as the ‘loyal opposition’, they have morphed into a gang of disloyal collaborators. Their distain for George W. Bush and the war against Islamic despots overrides any possibility of a unified, bi-partisan effort for the defense of the United States. Everytime they open their pieholes, they sound eerily familiar to Zawahiri

    I reiterate:
Soldiers are going to die in war, BIMBAT. They go into harms way for good reasons. And I can’t think of a better one than protecting Western Civilization (and even ingrates like you) against being subjugated to Sharia Law.

Not one of you leftwingnuts has come up with a grand master military strategy for the GWOT; in other words what you would have done besides kiss Bin Ladin’s ass and hide behind “diplomacy” while he gathered up a whole fleet of fucking airplanes for a follow-on attack.

Now really do something patriotic and supportive for the troops and the country, like show some gratitude, or march down to the nearest recruiting station to enlist instead of puting your mealy-mouthed bullshit on a website. Put up or shut the hell up.

  45. Of course the Army murdered Tillman. Then they blocked a medical examiner’s request for a murder investigation, and then they bragged to each other about the coverup.

  46. I haven’t lied about anything. I’ve told you that I don’t believe you. I’ve told you that the Army murdered Pat Tillman and covered it up. I’ve told you that the U.S. lost the Iraq War. I’ve told you that there have been very thinly veiled death threats against Scott Thomas Beauchamp published by Blackfive, the most popular wingnut “milblog.” I’ve told you that your “evidence” of Saddam’s WMD is fraudulent. I’ve told you that you are a fraud. What’s untrue about any of that?

Everything you just said was a lie. The “Army” did not murder Pat Tillman. He was killed by freindly fire, and they should have been honest about it. We are winning in Iraq and Afghanistan. Though your little warped mind cannot accept it, the WMD reports were not fraudulent; they reported what was discovered and confiscated, and you deny being a liar. Actually, you’re more of an ignoramous with no intention of confronting your own half-baked ideas. If you spent more time actually reading up on the facts from people who know what the fuck they’re talking about, instead of coming on here and acting foolish, you’d be better off. And you still have not anwered my question. Put up or shut up.

  47. Looks like the Coalition of the Bribed is down to just one last fool, the christian wingnuts of America. The Brits are preparing to leave your disaster. Who’ll be the last one to die for Bush’s lie?

  48. Bimbat,

You’re an emotionally retarded person who cannot be reasoned with. Are you really this stupid, or do you spew “lies” and “I don’t believe you, so there, nyah nyah nyah!” because you’ve run out of places to run for excuses? Jayzus christ on a crutch, you ARE a bona fide moonbat. Everyone who accesses this blog is going to see just what an unhinged lunatic you really are. Matter of fact, I’m thinking of creating a category just for you: “Raving leftwing nut root”.

  49. I don’t believe your “first sergeant who supervises Beauchamp” exists. I suspect that person was one more Army lie. The Army has been lying so often that nothing it tells us can be trusted anymore. We can listen to individuals who are currently in the field, but we must take their accounts with a pitcher of salt. And we certainly can’t believe wingnut cranks like you.

  50. Hey BIMBO:

You still haven’t answered any of my questions like: ….what have you done for your country besides be a Code Pink sychophant?

    Put up or shut up.

  51. By the way, the first U.S. Vietnam-era casualty occurred in 1956, and the last in 1975. So what’s the wingnut slogan? If you’d only given us another 19 years, we could have turned it around!

  52. With respect to Iraq, just because you call it “evidence” doesn’t make it so. As for Vietnam, it’s OVER. The United States was defeated. Just as it has been defeated in Iraq. Score another victory for the wingnuts who hate their country. As for the first sergeant, how do we know that the picture is the guy in question, or that he’s Beauchamp’s sergeant? “Baghdad Bob” is the rock of truth compared to the U.S. Army.

You are one big idiot. I delete an email address at the request of the ISG and do so out of courtesy, and all you can do is (again) make a complete ass of yourself with imbecilic denials. The Vietnam comment was from a Vietnam veteran. You can scream defeat until your blue in the face, but it won’t change the fact that we are winning. Keep it up though, you’re good entertainment. Score one for the leftwing nutroots who can’t deal with the truth.

  53. So is this “first sergeant” a figment of your imagination, dearie?

You think so? You wish. I received an e-mail from him asking me to delete his contact information. Go to the Company’s website and see the “figment’s” picture yourself, you petty ass.
The more you talk, the more you make a fool of yourself.
    Here’s the link: http://www.1-18in.2bct.1id.army.mil/alpha.htm

  54. Yes, I’m sure the Army will punish the guy. In addition to losing its glorious war and wasting the lives of its troops, it can’t have any free expression in its ranks. It can’t tell the truth about the people it murders, and you desperately hate your own country.

You tout the Code Pink party line and tell a former Soldier/war veteran she “hates” her country. You’re so full of shit it’s not funny. I’m passing this along from another Veteran:

“The VC and NVA have admitted time and again they were beaten militarily in Vietnam but the media’s reporting was so biased and the “peace” protestors so full of crap that it emboldened our enemies to wait it out until Congress tired of it and cut off funding.
Gee, doesn’t that sound familiar? So my “peace-loving” tards, frauds, and useful idiots, next time you bristle and ask if I’m questioning your patriotism, you’d best be ready for me to answer firmly and loudly in the affirmative.”

    BIMBO, you’re a Fucking Loser.

  55. I haven’t written anything that’s “anti-military” here. It’s not anti-military to tell the truth, which is that the U.S. has lost the Iraq War through incompetence, that the Army murdered Pat Tillman, that it has continually lied through the Iraq War, and that it’s not patriotic to get people killed for nothing at all. You “support” the troops so much that you want them dead. Some patriotism.

    Hey Bimbo:

Bullshit. You’re one of those A.N.S.W.E.R. pukes that holds up a sign saying : “We support our troops when they shoot their Officers”. Every single documented point I’ve made to you: The discovered WMDs, Hussein’s support for Al Qadea, and the logic of striking at any and all terrorist targets in the Middle East (pick one) , and the accidental shooting of Tillman is met with your perfunctory “Lies!”, “Bush conspiracy” and a plethora of leftwingnut links to support your theories. Tell me Bimbo, is there ever a time when you’d grow a set of balls and say “yeah, we need to fight back against these Islamofascist bastards”? Of course not. Because you support the troops by bad mouthing them, parroting the leftist party line, and being a cut and run pussy. NEWSFLASH: Soldiers are going to die in war, and I can’t think of a better reason than fighting for the survival of western civilization against 21st Century Ottoman wannabes.
By the way, you should realize that the term “fuhrer” and “christian” in the same breath is historically and factually incorrect. (no surprise) Hitler was an atheist and a socialist. Get your labels right before you spew. Asshat. You type out tripe from your keyboard without having the faintest idea of what you’re talking about. Take notice of all the Vets on here and on other sites who think your anti-war crowd is full of shit. I was a Soldier for 3 decades. I’ve been to war. Tell me sweetpea, what have you done for your country besides be a Code Pink sychophant?
Beauchamp deserves every Article 15 or Chapter he’s gonna get. He slandered his unit with false accusations presented as fact in a national publication. This is hard for some of you leftwing nutroots to grasp, but the type of behavior described in Beauchamp’s fantasies are not only technologically and physically impossible, but the grotesque stories of childrens’ skulls and insulting a disfigured female in a mess hall would have not gone unnoticed or unpunished by the Chain of Command. I guess he thought since John Kerry and the New York Times got away with it, so can he. Pull yourself together, and get therapy for your Bush Derangement Syndrome. You look ridiculous.
You? Support the troops? You’re a piece of work. Fucking poser.

  57. Iver at TNR none of this ‘truth’ business really matters. Apparently they only care about “interesting” stories along their narrow sliver of politics. As someone else said recently, they are not against the War on Terror, they just think the wrong party is prosecuting it.

My first, measured, take on this situation is here and the key passage:

Grave desecration? More UCMJ action. How on earth does anybody consider this guy a “whistle blower” if he never bothered putting the whistle in his mouth? The only whistle blower in this whole deal is the recently fired New Republic staffer.

One thing that made me think that this was a Fairbanksing job was from that “Big Shame in a Small World” story, written by New Republic Associate Editor, Eve Fairbanks, for The Examiner. She took an existing New York Times story and wrote another story, that was loaded with falsehoods that could easily be seen IF you found the original story. This story smacks of the same treatment. It could be a series of otherwise bland information and made sensational by an editor skilled in Fairbanksing. I wonder where TNR could find one of those?

I really hope the book clobbers this guy when it is thrown at him.

I might add this bit later. It sounds like some unachieving wimp is trying to impress his cute and accomplished wife with ever higher piles of BS and is being assisted by a talented editor.

  58. Hmmm.

I really feel for Beauchamp’s fellow soldiers as they are the real victims in this nonsense.

Honor is hard to maintain, and easily stained.

  60. No, what you’ve been doing is playing reductio ad absurdum, and I’m not buying your wingnut evasions. Sorry that you freaks are so pissed about losing your glorious little war. But you really don’t need to go off and make thinly veiled death threats (see Blackfive’s hate site) against an Army private who wrote something you disapprove of.

Support the troops, you say? Don’t make me laugh, you sniveling liar.

    Hey BIMBO:

You’ve spent your entire time on here denigrating the military, spewing leftwingnut theories, pissing about what it takes to fight the GWOT, and generally making an ass out of yourself. I didn’t just “disapprove” sweetpea, I pointed out his UCMJ violations, his presenting FICTION as fact, and the fact that he’s a pathological liar. Yeah you “support” the troops alright. You have alot in common with Beauchamp.
    Don’t make me laugh….too late.

  61. You and those “chemtrails.” What are they? Is it a precious bodily fluids sort of thing?

Sarcasm goes right over your pointy head….

  62. Why don’t you ask why GEORGE BUSH is trying to murder us with CHEMTRAIls?????? That is the only question!

  63. The only question in my mind now is why Tillman was murdered. Apparently he snapped at some other solider who was praying to Jesus, saying that Jesus wouldn’t protect his sorry ass now. There’s nothing like a christian scorned. Pow! Right through the forehead!

Dude, you really need to put down your copy of the Communist Manifesto and take your meds.

  64. A “theory” about Tillman being murdered? Even your wingnut fellow travelers over at Blackfive are saying that it was murder. There’s no other credible explanation. Oh, and how do you like that 3-star general who said 70 times that he didn’t remember? I think that’s what christian wingnuts do under stress. They lose their memory. It beats trying to keep track of their lies.

Wackjob conspiracy theories are like an avalache. Once they get started, they don’t stop. As I said, the General should be disciplined for simply not telling the truth about the freindly fire. You leftwing nutroots have selective amnesia. Just look at your posts.

  65. JimBimbo

sfcmac, everything you’ve mention was been thoroughly debunked. Whatever existed was stuff left over from the first Gulf War. As for Saddam’s use of chemical wweapons, I’d say a few things. First, it happened in the 1980s. Pretty weak pretext for war in 2003. Secondly, almost immediately after he did it, Rummy went to Baghdad to congratulate Saddam on a job well done. Thus is wingnut outrage on display.

Yeah, yeah. I know. Bill Clinton lied about those blowjobs in the White House. I wish your christian whackjob had lied about sex instead of war. Yeah, Clinton killed billions of sperm cells. Bush killed hundreds of thousands of Iraqis and thousands of Americans, plus he wasted a trillion bucks and didn’t even win his war. There are problems, and there are problems.

Hey, just wait until Hillary gets in office. Holy Patriot Act, Batman!

“Thoroughly debunked?” You been checking that Voxfux website for your answers again? Those were reports of actual weapons that were disovered and destroyed. Some of those reports also appeared in the WaPo and the NYT, two of the most prominent leftist rags in the U.S.
Oh, but it’s all just a “Bush conspiracy”. You moron.

Bush killed thousands of Iraqis and Americans? You got that ass backwards, sweetpea. The Al Qadea started this with a body count of 3000 on September 11th. You know, the attack you moonbats keep saying was an “inside job”. Bin Ladin must be shocked.

Oh yeah, and while you were fixated on Clinton’s purgery about sexual assault and his mouth to crotch rescusitation, he got away with some pretty serious felonies. Clinton and Gore used the Oval office as a conduit for illegal, immoral , and unethical activities. Perjury during a sexual harrassment case was what got him impeached, but that was just the tip of Bubba’s iceberg. He traded classified technology for Chinese campaign contributions. That alone should have put both those SOBs UNDER Leavenworth. He also illegally obtained FBI files on “political enemies” and lied about their existence, but they showed up on Hillary’s desk after a couple of years of being “misplaced”. Janet Reno did her part by refusing to investigate the multiple crimes by the Clinton mob.
And his response to the FIVE terrorist attacks against Americans during his term: ZERO. Want me to name them? The Embassy bombings in Kenya and Tanzania, the USS Cole, Khobar Towers, and the first World trade Center attack in 1993, resulted in Bubba biting his quivering lower lip, tearing up, and doing absolutely nothing…Oh wait, that’s right, he wagged the dog. Sudan offered up Bin Ladin on a silver platter, Bubba said “no”. Army SF had him in the crosshairs, Bubba said “no”. His depraved indifference to terrorism gave al Qaeda the green light.

And denial ain’t a river in Egypt. No matter how much you wish…

  66. Bimbo:

The war on terror is different from Iraq? How so? It’s just one of the battlefields in this war, but of course you refuse to acknowledge that.

Still towing the Islamist party line? Lies! It’s all lies! I hear the same shit whenever Zawahiri puts out a new tape. Yeah it’s all about the oil, but we’re still paying 3 bucks at the pump because we haven’t bothered to take all the oil that we were supposedly after.

Oh yeah and maybe you missed these:
    1) 1.77 metric tons of enriched uranium
In a joint Energy and Defense Department operation, 1.77 metric tons of low-enriched uranium and approximately 1000 highly radioactive sources were secured from Iraq’s former nuclear research facility, packaged and then airlifted on June 23, the press statement said.
“This operation was a major achievement for the Bush Administration’s goal to keep potentially dangerous nuclear materials out of the hands of terrorists,” Energy Secretary Spencer Abraham said in the statement. “It also puts this material out of reach for countries that may seek to develop their own nuclear weapons.”

    2) 1,500 gallons of chemical weapons agents
U.S. troops raiding a warehouse in the northern city of Mosul uncovered a suspected chemical weapons factory containing 1,500 gallons of chemicals believed destined for attacks on U.S. and Iraqi forces and civilians, military officials said Saturday.

    Source: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/08/13/AR2005081300530.html

    3) 17 chemical warheads containing cyclosarin (a nerve agent five times more deadly than sarin gas) “Laboratory tests showed the presence in them of cyclosarin, a very toxic gas, five times stronger than sarin and five times more durable,” Bieniek told Poland’s TVN24 at the force’s Camp Babylon headquarters. “If these warheads, which were still usable, were used on a military base like Camp Babylon, they would have caused unforeseeable damage.”

    4) Over 1,000 radioactive materials in powdered form meant for dispersal over populated areas: “Along with 1.77 tons of enriched uranium, about 1,000 “highly radioactive sources” were also removed. The material was taken from a former nuclear research facility on 23 June, after being packaged by 20 experts from the US Energy Department’s secret laboratories.”

    Source: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/middle_east/3872201.stm

    5) Roadside bombs loaded with mustard and “conventional” sarin gas, assembled in binary chemical projectiles for maximum potency

    Source: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,120137,00.html

    And this bombshell:
“Tapes Reveal Hussein’s plans”: An excerpt: “There also exists a quote from the dictator himself, who ordered the tapings to keep a record of his inner-sanctum discussions, that Mr. Tierney (Bill Tierney, a former Army warrant officer and Arabic speaker who was translating for the FBI tapes unearthed in Iraq after the invasion) thinks shows Saddam planned to use a proxy to attack the United States.” “Terrorism is coming … with the Americans,” Saddam said. “With the Americans, two years ago, not a long while ago, with the English I believe, there was a campaign … with one of them, that in the future there would be terrorism with weapons of mass destruction.”

    Source: http://www.washingtontimes.com/national/20060313-123146-7380r.htm

Geez, and to think “Chemical Ali” slaughtered thousands of Kurds with “non-existent” WMDs.

Hussein met with al Qadea operatives, provided training camps, and gave support to Zarqawi, who is right along side him in hell.

And still no comment on the war in Afghanistan besides your idiot theory of “Tillman being murdered by the Army”?

It’s not just that you’re in severe denial about when/how/where to fight back against these Islamofascist ragheads, but you’re just plain ignorant. If you want an example of a “fuhrer”, you should have been as busy as a one-legged man in as ass kicking contest during Bubba Clinton’s regime. That son of a bitch used the Oval Office as a conduit for an eight-year crime spree, ignored the 5 terrorist attacks against Americans on his watch, and used Somalia and the Balkans as his wag-the-dog tactic.

Let me make this real simple:
You have no military background, and you’ve never been to the Middle East. You have no clue as to what’s really going on in Iraq and Afghanistan because the only news you get is from the MSM and the pro-al Qadea leftwingnut sites, which you prefer over people who know what the fuck they’re talking about. Hint: You don’t.

The only liar on here is you.

  67. Interesting that the report was released on a Friday in mid-summer. Your christian wingnut fuhrer wasn’t trying to bury anything, was he? Nope, they’d never do that.

  68. The war on terror is different from the Iraq War. The former is the equivalent of the anti-piracy efforts of the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries (and in fact now), except with higher stakes. The Iraq War is an insane imperial struggle foisted on the U.S. by a lying president and his party.

The Iraq War makes it harder to go after terrorists. It undermines the political cooperation that’s necessary to pursue terrorists, and it has served as a recruiting tool for new terrorists. Even your insane fuhrer’s government has been forced to admit it.

The wishful thinking here is yours. You are willing to waste lives for no other reason than vanity. That’s not just a losing cause, it’s a lie and a crime. So much for the christian wingnuts. They’ve shown themselves to be a big pack of incompetent, lying fools. War has a way of separating people and nations from their lies.

As for the “success stories” that ARZ touts with old links to disproven stories, here are some more facts. It would seem that your fanatic’s government now must admit that Iraq reconstruction is a dismal failure.

American reconstruction projects in Iraq are ending up in the hands of untrained locals or demanding even more money from American taxpayers than originally ventured, reports the New York Times in its Saturday, July 28 edition.

A report, released Friday by the Special Inspector General for Iraq Reconstruction, details how only 435 projects out of a total of 2,797, at a cost of $5.8 billion, were accepted by the Iraqi government, resulting in many projects being effectively abandoned or inoperative despite the United States declaring them “successfully completed”.

Stuart W. Bowen Jr., of the Inspector General’s office, blames Iraqi-installed finance minister Bayan Jabr for the failure of the transfer process, whose installation by the Iraqi government he says caused the process to “cease to function.”

  69. Hey JimBIMBO:

Jeff R’s reference went right over your pointy head. If you spent as much time talking with Soldiers, getting their opinions and acquainting yourself with THE FACTS, you wouldn’t come across as a desperate loser trying to convince himself that the GWOT is “lost”. Wishing will not make it so, but you can dream cantcha? You couldn’t care less about the military, asshat.

You sure do give Bush alot of credit for magnificent feats. Bush decided to stop reports of how many hours of electricity Baghdad gets every day? Are you nuts? No wait, yes you are. Here’s somemore sites you won’t bother to visit because they prove just how full of shit you are:

Hussein hogged ALL Iraq’s power for Baghdad. In spite of problems, 220 of 520 electric project are completed. Equal distribution is a problem but it’s being worked on and is ABOVE pre-war levels. By the way, after WWII, Europe and Japan were in ruins for years before reconstuction was complete.

    Those reports document good progress.

Let’s see how much you care about the military. Read the information without resorting to “it’s all propaganda”, “it’s a Bush conspiracy”, “and it’s all lies” .

  70. ARZ, I laughed out loud when I clicked on that link to the Boston Globe’s wingnut columnist. You are seriously linking to a story about Zarqawi? Boy, of boy, if that’s the best you people can do, you have more problems that we know!

The one from “California Conservative” is even lamer. What, they captured a few people making IEDs? Good God, you’d hope they’d be able to get someone. But that’s not “success,” that’s a tactical blip.

Iraq’s GDP grew? Well of course it grew. Someone drawing water from a well to feed to their children increases their GDP. The U.S. utterly destroyed Iraq. Their GDP has nowhere to go but up. But that’s not success. That’s desperate people feeding themselves, for chrissakes.

Loved all the pics of the new infrastructure. Tell me, then why has the Bush administration decided to stop reporting how many hours of electricity Baghdad gets every day? Fact is, the place is still in ruins. To the extent that anything works in that country, it’s a matter of activity in the areas under de facto Iranian control.

Remember Iran? You know, the people your christian wingnut fuhrer wants to attack but cannot attack because the U.S. military is now too weakened to pull it off without resorting to the use of nucelar weapons? Yep, that Iran.

  71. Jeff R, I’m sorry you’re worried about “chemtrails,” whatever those are. I suggest you spend your time worrying about why the U.S. military is losing in Iraq, and why the Army lied (and continues to lie) about Pat Tillman’s murder.

After all, you “support the the troops,” don’t you? Nah, you couldn’t care less about them. You never have cared, and never will.

  72. JimBimbo, why do you waste your time telling the truth about Tillman when the _real_ evil is the government’s murder of millions of its own citizens via chaemtrails??????

CHEMTRAILS! Scroll down to “Look! Up in the skies!” The Bush Administration is killing millions and nothing’s being done about it! It’s true, it’s on the internet!

  73. JimBimbo jb@gmail.com

All the success we’re having?” Christ almighty, what drugs are you taking? There isn’t a single metric by which the U.S. is seeing “success” in Iraq.

The blogs you suggest that I read are not military blogs. They are Republican propaganda vehicles filled with a bunch of tendentious lying.

If you had any real “regard” for American military personnel, you’d be agitating for a U.S. withdrawal and a thorough investigation of how and why this country went there to begin with. It’s not “patrotic” to throw lives away on nothing.

Quit lying about Tillman. There was no battle. The man was murdered by the U.S. Army. It knew about the murder, covered it up, and lied to the man’s family and to the country. What is it about you freaks that makes you want to lie all the time?

No wonder the U.S. is unable to put down an insurgency in a Texas-sized country, with a Texas-sized population, with Texas terrain that’s almost uniquely adapted to U.S. equipment. Our military is staffed with people like you who do nothing but pass around lies, not just to the public but to each other.

War has a way of separating the liars from their lies. Welcome to your failure. It has exposed not only your rank incompetence, but your hatred of your own country.

Yes, ALL THE SUCCESS, which you might know of if you pried your dumb ass away from your bong and Keith Olbermann’s rants once in awhile. Did you even bother to go to the sites I posted? Of course not. You’re too secure in your ‘I know everything because the MSM told me’. Bullshit. Have you even bothered to ask some of the returning troops? They have the same “what the fuck”? reaction to the war’s potrayal on the MSM as opposed to what we saw and experienced. The Michael Yon and Bill Roggio sites are maintained by former Soldiers-turned journalists in Iraq and Afghanistan. Here’s the site links:

    So much for “Republican propaganda”.

Asshats like you sit in your livingroom recliner or at the local bar and bitch without ever sticking your neck out to defend the freedoms you take for granted. Tell you what, sweetpea: Why don’t you stick with what you do best and go back to playing with Rosie Palm and her Five Sisters.

The “Army” murdered Tillman? Jayzus christ, you are a real piece of work. Lots of people I know in the military would beg to differ with that sweeping generalization. The fratricide was not intentional, but there’s no convincing someone with a shitload of Reynold’s Wrap for a hat. The General who covered up the accident should be disciplined. If they had just admitted it was freindly fire, it might have taken some wind out of you gas bags.
I bet you spend alot of sleepless hours hunkered over your computer on conspiracy sites. Here’s a place that caters to moonbats like you:

    It’s right up your alley.

The military can’t put down an insurgency in a country the size of Texas? Maybe that’s because most of them are terrorist cells coming in from IRAN and SYRIA. But,the al Qadea is still getting creamed. Your drone about lies…blah…blah..blah… is hackneyed bullshit.

I don’t love my country?!? Listen, shithead, I served 32 years as a Soldier, and I’ve seen some pretty vile, nasty diatribes on the part of people like you who pretend they love this country. You don’t have any fucking idea of what it means to really back up “Duty Honor Country” with dedication and sacrifice. Until the day I draw my last breath, I’ll be a Soldier. You wouldn’t know love for this country if it kicked you in the ass. Shut the fuck up, poser.

Here’s something to help you with your ignorance. I posted this to another individual, and it bears repeating.
    Let me make this simple:
The invasion of Afghanistan was prompted by its use as the major operating base for al Qaeda.

The invasion of Iraq was instigated by 12 years of nose thumbing on the part of a WMD-wielding terrorist-supporting megalomaniac. U.N. Resolution 1441 gave Hussein an ultimatum and us the specific authority to force compliance, by any necessary means. That included military force. I was an Intelligence Analyst and cannot discuss classified material, but there are plenty of open source publications available for your perusal. In case you didn’t know, we found a substantial amount of hidden WMD along with documents and recordings in which Saddam Hussein emphatically stated his intention to continue WMD development and deception.

Cutting off war funding will send al Qaeda and other terrorist groups the message that the elected officials of the United States don’t have the guts to stand up to Islamofascist tyrants who want to transform the whole planet into a Caliphate.

Afghanistan is never mentioned in anti-war commentaries. For the life of me, I can’t figure that out. It’s probably because our success in pounding the Taliban and al Qaeda into the sand in Kandahar doesn’t make for good press.

And what about our invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan don’t you get? Where do you think we should fight back? Hell, they’re just two of the countries I would have leveled on 12 September 2001. We were attacked by Islamic thugs supported not only by Iraq and Afghanistan but throughout the Middle East and they are two good places to start retaliation.

Had I been in power, I would have made William Tecumseh Sherman look like a Boy Scout. Four countries would have been carpet-bombed into asphalt parking lots: Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, and Syria. That is how you fight a war. But I was a Soldier, not a diplomat.
President Bush has repeatedly stated that the war against Islamofascism will not be easy; it will not come without sacrifice. The problem is a great number of people like nice, neat, little sound bite wars. Well, wouldn’t we all? In reality, war is a brutal, often necessary endeavor.

No matter how badly some people salivate over the possibility of a “civil war” in Iraq, it ain’t happening. Most of the agitators are coming in from Syria and Iran, with the bulk of the violence taking place in specific areas around Baghdad. The rest of the 26 million Iraqis are too busy getting on with their lives to jump on the “civil war” bandwagon.

This is what the GWOT in Iraq and Afghanistan has accomplished:
Elimination of at least two of the ME terrorist operating bases and establishing influence and the spread of freedom right smack dab in the middle of an Islamofascist region. Iraq and Afghanistan are making great progress. For the first time in their existence, they have an opportunity to enjoy the freedoms we take for granted; they vote, run for office, run independent businesses, and speak through a free press. They are being prepared for the day when our mission is complete and theirs begins. They now have a representative Parliament and a military that is being trained to provide for the defense of an independent Iraq.

You don’t hear about the good things, because, as the saying goes,” if it bleeds, it leads.”
By the way: one of the most important campaigns of this war is being waged as we speak. It’s called “Operation Arrowhead Ripper”. The United States Army and Iraqi troops are gaining significant ground and kicking al Qaeda’s ass in places like Baqubah. I guess in your view, that’s not as important as voting to cut off our funding and sniveling about all the reasons you think we shouldn’t have picked one of the terrorist/WMD havens as a target for retaliation.
Another ploy by critics is to assign the “Vietnam” mantra to every war it disagrees with. No matter how badly they want it to be another “Vietnam” it isn’t happening, and their historical amnesia kicks in every time this war is debated.

    Here’s an easy scenario:
In spite of ominous indicators and turmoil that was contained on someone else’s turf, we remained complacent.
An enemy sends planes to bomb and crash into U.S. territory. The attack kills roughly 3000 Americans.
War is declared and retaliation begins against the perpetrators and their allies.
    Sound familiar?
    It happened 7 December 1941.
    There’s your comparison.

You didn’t expect the bad guys to be very happy at the fact that we brought the war they started, back to them, did you? Of course they’re going to be pissed. Of course they’re going to fight back, not just with weapons but through media exploitation. 9/11 was the Pearl Harbor of the 21st Century and all the critics are capable of is spouting nonsense and being al Qaeda apologists.
In case you still don’t get it, they want to kill us. They made that pretty clear on 11 September 2001.
If you don’t understand that, maybe they didn’t hit close enough to your own back yard.
If you had any real regard, love, or respect for this country and the military, you’d support the troops and the mission with something besides your affinity for cut and run.
The military doesn’t share your view.
    Welcome to success, sweetpea.

  75. Exurban Jon,

Thanks! I’ll check out your site and put it on my blogroll.

  76. baldilocks,

I was in Iraq twice-Operation Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom-and most Soldiers I served with upheld the utmost in professionalism. There’s always a few bad apples in every barrel, and the military is no exception. No one I know would have concocted asinine tales about poking fun at disfigured people, running over dogs, or playing with children’s skulls, let alone whining about the mission. I was in Intel, and believe me we have a warped sense of humor, but I could never picture any of my comrades pulling shit like Beauchamp. I’m interested in seeing the reactions of his unit members. They’ve probably been told not to speak with anyone until the investigation is complete. I checked out your site and read the piece about his OPSEC violation. This kid is either as dumb as a box of rocks, or simply doesn’t care. It’s probably both.

  77. JoeC:

In the November 27, 2006, issue, the editors wrote:

“At this point, it seems almost beside the point to say this: The New Republic deeply regrets its early support for this war. The past three years have complicated our idealism and reminded us of the limits of American power and our own wisdom.”

Looks like their support is a little inconsistent.
As I said, they were way too eager to lend credibility to a 20-something pretentious ass for the sake of his wife (who works for TNR) and what they thought was a juicy war-bashing story.

  78. Beth: Thanks for the compliment. Beauchamp is a self-absorbed emotional retard. I could only take his rambling blog in small doses, and I had had enough after only a couple of minutes. This kid is in serious need of “wall-to-wall” counseling.

  79. AMac: You’re welcome. And thank you for passing the e-mail along to other sites.

  80. Comment by JimBimbo — July 28, 2007 # jb@gmail.com

Gee, so you wrote to Beauchamp’s first sergeant, and he pleads “not guilty” and then proceeds to smear the guy. Fine and dandy, but here’s the problem:

    1. The Army is losing the Iraq War.

    2. The Army is guilty of adopting torture as a standard operating tactic in Iraq, and then lying about it.

    3. The Army murdered Pat Tillman, and then lied about it.

And I’m supposed to take some first sergeant’s word for it? I know you will do that, Cheryl McElroy, because your response to anything Bush says is to click your heels, thrust a stiff right arm into the air at a 45-degree angle, and scream “Jawohl, mein christian fuhrer!”

But that doesn’t mean that anyone one else has to believe it. What’s really sad, and sick, is that you and that first sergeant are willing to stomp all over one of your own because he says thing you you want to hear.

Fine. Go right on losing your happy little war. See how many Americans believe anything any of you have to say.

You know what, sweetpea? I could spend the better part of the day yanking a knot in your dumb ass, but I’m just going to suggest that you pull your head out of your “sixth point of contact” long enough to read some of the following links on this blog:

    1. With all the success we’re having, we plum forgot that you pro al-Qadea asshats think we’re “losing”.
    2. The Army “murdered” Pat Tillman??? The fratricide occured in the chaos of battle and unfortunately that happens in every war. You need to adjust your tin-foil hat, bud.
    3. If you think I’m going to worry about the methods it takes to extract information from a terrorist scumbag who earned their way into GITMO, you’re fucking nuts.
    4. I’ll take the First Sergeant’s word over a mentally ill wackjob any day of the week. (including yours) Check out ALL of the refutations by Active Duty personnel and veterans alike on Beauchamp’s accusations. As for the Durbin-esque insult: You’re a unhinged moonbat with no gratitude for the Soldiers who stand betwen you and Islamofascist cutthroats determined to have the whole planet knuckle under the ‘peaceful religion of Islam”. I bet you’ve got a Crescent tattooed on one ass cheek and “I love Jihad” on the other.
    5. The little self-appointed “correspondent” told lies, slandered the Soldiers in his unit, and made a jackass out of himself. In case you didn’t know, the UCMJ doesn’t cover “things we don’t want to hear” (ie: the anti-miltary sentiment you wallow in), but it does proscribe punishment for conduct unbecoming and making false statements; something the The New York Times gets away with on a daily basis.
    6. We’re kicking al Qadea ass, and yeah, we’re pretty happy about it. Most Americans with a couple of firing neurons will ask Soldiers who have been there, check out blogs like Michael Yon’s and Bill Roggio’s, and have the common sense to take Beauchamp for what he is: a sophomoric puke.
You can go back to playing with yourself now.
    SFC Cheryl McElroy
    Iraq War veteran

  81. But one minor detail you should keep in mind, if, for no other reason, than to retain your own credibility.

The New Republic has consistently supported this war – and done so at great cost in terms of readership and reputation amongst what had been its center-left audience.

e.g. – “a website notorious for smearing this country and the military.” – that is way off base.
