The TPF is a “movement incubator” and organizational hub for over 200 left-wing groups, based in Manhattan. It provides co-working space, conference rooms, a theater, media laboratory, lending library, café, and art space ideal for political organizing, poster making, and screen printing. TPF is led by founder and executive director Manolo De Los Santos, who has met with Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and quickly mobilized protests following Maduro’s reported arrest on January 3, 2026.
The organization played a central role in organizing pro-Maduro demonstrations in Times Square and Brooklyn, and called for “emergency protests nationwide”. Critics describe TPF as cult-like, citing its use of “thought-terminating clichés” and its rigid ideological framing that attributes global problems solely to “capitalists” and “imperialists”. The group hosts political education programs, such as “All Power to the People: A Summer School for Socialism,” aimed at developing a disciplined activist vanguard.
TPF has drawn scrutiny from U.S. lawmakers. Senator Chuck Grassley inquired about its alleged ties to the Chinese Communist Party, while Representative Jason Smith urged the IRS to revoke its tax-exempt status, accusing it of inciting violence and supporting illegal activities. The group collaborates with radical organizations such as Nodutdol, a pro-North Korea group that hosted an event at TPF in April 2025 promoting Juche ideology and Korean reunification as an anti-imperialist struggle. It also supports newer activist groups like ICE Out of New York, which has staged disruptive protests.
TPF operates 1804 Books, its in-house press and bookstore, which publishes and distributes socialist literature and revolutionary theory. Its influence extends beyond New York through hybrid-format classes accessible online. The organization is currently fundraising for a major renovation to expand its operational capacity. Some sources suggest TPF functions as a front for the Party for Socialism and Liberation (PSL) and receives funding through the Goldman Sachs Philanthropy Fund.
Wealthy socialist billionaire George Soros is another source of financing for Antifa and BLM.
