Canada’s prime minister, Mark Carney, has apparently decided the path back to the negotiating table runs through America’s group chat.
He’s very angry about all of the mean memes Americans have been making.
We thought it had to be a parody or joke, too, but nope. It’s legit.
After walking away from trade talks and watching the two countries slap tariffs on each other, Mark Carney’s big condition for restarting discussions is that the United States stop making memes, stop throwing shade, and start acting like grown-ups. That is a bold strategy from a government that just lost a deal and then tried to scold the internet into submission.
If the official Canadian position is that sovereignty is non-negotiable but jokes about geese are a deal-breaker, the memes are not going anywhere. They are just getting better material.
For decades, Canada has been getting the benefit of the trade imbalance with America. Reciprocal tariffs are being applied and they don’t like it. Tough.
Keep whining Carney.
