The NYPD has identified the man accused of attacking a group of Jewish worshipers as they celebrated Hanukkah. A spokeswoman for the police department identified Grafton Thomas as the suspect, who was apprehended on Saturday night.
Thomas allegedly stabbed five people at a rabbi’s home in Monsey, Rockland County, over the weekend. Reports said all five people were transported to the hospital, where two remain in critical condition.
Ramapo Police Chief Brad Weidel said the investigation is ongoing and no motive has been determined at this time. Authorities said the suspected attacker is facing five counts of attempted murder. Reports said he was arraigned this morning and pleaded not guilty. His bail is set at $5 million.

Authorities found handwritten journals at his home that the FBI says appear to “express anti-Semitic sentiments.”:
The journals questioned “why [people] mourned for anti-Semitism when there is Semitic genocide” and claimed the “Hebrew Israelites” took from the “powerful [people] (ebinoid Israelites).” They also contained references to “Adolf Hitler” and “Nazi Culture” on the same page as drawings of symbols such as the Star of David and a swastika, the complaint read.
“The term ‘ebinoid Israelites’ appears to be a reference to the ‘Black Hebrew Israelite’ movement, in which groups of African-Americans assert that they are the descendants of the ancient Israelites,” the FBI agent wrote in the complaint. The gunman in the recent mass shooting at a kosher supermarket in Jersey City, N.J., was a follower of the Black Hebrew Israelite group, WNBC previously has reported.
Black Hebrew Israelites, which is a bona fide hate group, was one of the mobs that harassed the Covington students.

Ken Cuccinelli, acting Deputy Secretary at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), said on Monday that the man who allegedly used a machete during a stabbing spree at a rabbi’s home in New York was the son of an illegal alien.
“The attacker is the U.S. Citizen son of an illegal alien who got amnesty under the 1986 amnesty law for illegal immigrants,” Cuccinelli said in a now-deleted tweet. “Apparently, American values did not take hold among this entire family, at least this one violent, and apparently bigoted, son.”

Tiffany Harris, of Flatbush, was charged with misdemeanor assault Kings County Criminal Court Saturday morning and released without bail — though Judge Laura Johnson ordered her not to go near the victims.
Harris, 30, allegedly approached three women, ages 22, 26, and 31, near Eastern Parkway and Kingston Avenue early Friday, then slapped them and barked the offensive expletive, cops said.
