SPC Sarah Beckstrom has passed away:
Sarah Beckstrom, one of the West Virginia National Guard members shot in a cowardly ambush by an Afghan refugee, has died.
President Trump announced the passing of the 20-year-old during a Thanksgiving evening address.
“She’s just passed away. She’s no longer with us. She’s looking down at us right now,” Trump said.
Beckstrom had been listed in critical condition after being shot in the chest and the head.
West Virginia National Guardsmen Sarah Beckstrom (20) and Andrew Wolfe (24) were shot.

Both have undergone surgery and are in critical condition.
Beckstrom volunteered for duty in DC so others could spend time with their families.

Ratcliffe: D.C. National Guard Shooting Suspect Rahmanullah Lakanwal Worked with CIA in Afghanistan
Ratcliffe told Fox News Digital of the link, saying the suspect was a “member of a partner force in Kandahar, which ended shortly following the chaotic evacuation.”
Kandahar in southern Afghanistan is in the Taliban heartland of the country. It saw fierce fighting between the Taliban and NATO forces after U.S.-led forces arrived in 2001 following the al-Qaida terrorist attacks on Sept. 11.
“The Biden administration justified bringing the alleged shooter to the United States in September 2021 due to his prior work with the U.S. government, including CIA,” Ratcliffe outlined.
He lamented Lakanwal “and so many others—should have never been allowed to come here,” as he added: “God bless our brave troops.”
Shooter ID’d as an AFGHAN national:
Initial reporting indicates the suspect is believed to be an Afghan national who used a handgun to execute the heinous attack.
Per NBC’s Tom Winter:
“Two senior U.S. law enforcement officials say that the man they believe is the suspect in today’s National Guard shooting, used a handgun in the attack and has been initially identified as an Afghan national.”
Earlier, Winters reported that the FBI will “initially investigate the shooting of two members of the National Guard in D.C. as a possible act of terrorism.”
Rahmanullah Lakanwal, a 29-year-old Afghan national, has been identified as the suspect in the shooting of two National Guard members near the White House on Wednesday, November 26, 2025. He entered the United States illegally in 2021 under Biden’s import of unvetted Afghan ‘refugees’.
Witnesses say he shouted “allah u akbar” as he fired.

The shooter is in custody.
WASHINGTON — Two National Guard troops were shot Wednesday just blocks from the White House, according to law enforcement sources.
The Soldiers were gunned down at Farragut Square in Northwest DC, less than a half mile north from the White House, sources said.
DC’s Metro Police Department confirmed the shooting occurred at 17th and I Street, NW, and that a suspect was in custody, but didn’t share how many victims were involved.
The scene, which is located at a bustling public square with restaurants and retail shopping stores, is now secure.
The National Guard service members’ condition is unknown, but one was administered CPR, sources added. The suspect is now at a DC hospital.
Both President Trump and Vice President JD Vance were outside of DC at the time of the shooting, with Trump in Florida and Vance visiting troops in Kentucky.
“The White House is aware and actively monitoring this tragic situation. The President has been briefed,” White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said in a statement.
