A ‘Dirt Digger’ in Obama’s Cabinet

Amid the furor over controversies regarding Cabinet-nominee tax problems and the seismic battle over a nearly trillion-dollar economic rescue bill, President Obama made a little-noticed appointment that is now generating intrigue.

Shauna Daly, a 29-year-old Democratic operative, was named last month to the new job of White House counsel research director. Though she is inside one of the most powerful legal offices in the land, Miss Daly holds no law degree and doesn’t list any legal training on her resume.

Her sole experience has been as an opposition researcher for Democratic political campaigns: She helped dig up dirt on rivals, or on her own nominee to prepare for attacks.

The addition to White House counsel Greg Craig’s staff has alarmed some Republicans, who consider it a politicization of the office, and has irritated others who say that Democratic lawmakers who railed against Republican opposition researchers in legal positions in the past are now silent.

Wow! This is incredible. A Bushie pointing the finger of blame at Democrats for — are you sitting down? — hiring political operatives to dig up dirt on the opposition! Hell, the Bush White House was rife with such operatives. The list is way too long to repeat here. No need anyway. We’ll soon be hearing and seeing more about Bush’s crimes against the American people. We’re going to start with a thorough examination of how that numbskull cowboy repeatedly used the power of his office to authorize the totally illegal wiretapping of U.S. citizens — a felony offense for which he and his cronies will one day have to suffer the consequences. He and Ayers’ pet project, the Annenberg/Woods Fund was a conduit for radical groups like ACORN. Aside from ACORN, Ayers, and Dohrn, he’s accumulated Tony Rezko, Hamas, the Nation of Islam, the Arab-American Action Network, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Hugo Chavez, Jeremiah (god-damn America) Wright, CAIR, Saul Alinsky, and Frank Marshall Davis, among his friends, supporters, admirers, and mentors.

Start digging.

There are reasons why he attracts these kinds of slimeballs. I’ve said this before: He’s a human bug light for criminals, despots, terrorists, and anti-American hate spewers. His policies are reflected in the company he keeps. No wonder you assholes love him.

FYI: In both Desert Storm and OIF, I was involved with intelligence operations forward of my unit. We got mortared, went through SCUD launches, minefields and IEDs, and killed the enemy on the streets of Iraq.
