A suspect in the Benghazi terrorist attack was captured inside Libya by U.S. forces and has been put on a ship headed for the U.S.:
A suspected terrorist linked to the 2012 Benghazi terror attack that killed four Americans has been captured inside Libya by U.S. forces and currently is en route to the United States, Fox News has learned.
Sources told Fox News that the suspect, Ansar al-Sharia commander Ahmed Abu Khattala, was captured Sunday during a joint U.S. military and law enforcement operation, and will face prosecution in the United States.
……Khattala was captured south of Benghazi by U.S. special operators and is on his way to the U.S. aboard a Navy ship.
Khattala was long thought to be one of the ringleaders of the deadly attack, in which U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans died. He had openly granted media interviews since the 2012 attack, but until now evaded capture.
The capture marks the first time the United States has caught one of the suspects in the 2012 assault.
Khattala wasn’t exactly hiding under a rock.
He gave frequent interviews to media outlets including the New York Times and CNN, which raises a lot of questions as to why it took so long to get the son of a bitch:
Last August, CNN’s Arwa Dawson interviewed Abu Khattala for two hours “in public at a coffee shop of a well-known hotel” in Benghazi, she explained during the segment.
“For a suspected terrorist, who may have been involved in the murder of four Americans, he’s really not that difficult to find,” Dawson said during her report, adding that Abu Khattala “seemed to be confident, his demeanor most certainly not that of a man who believed he was going to be detained or targeted any time soon.”
Reporters stood face-to-face with the bastard, yet SpecOps took over two years to get to him. Hell, they could have nabbed him during one of his publicity stunts.
Obama still treats muslim terrorists as ordinary criminals instead of enemy combatants.
In other words, they’ll be read Miranda Rights and processed as if they were petty thieves instead of being sent to GITMO where they belong:
……The White House ruled out sending Ahmed Abu Khattala to the U.S. detention center in Cuba after several Republican lawmakers demanded that he be detained, interrogated and tried there.
The administration plans to bring Khattala to the U.S. and try him in federal court.
……GOP Sens. Lindsey Graham (S.C.), Marco Rubio (Fla.) and John McCain (Ariz.) called for Khattala to be placed in Guantánamo within hours of the news of his detention.
