Bubba Clinton Takes Over the Presidential Lectern

The Golden Boy excused himself while Bubba explained the aversion of a new tax hike.

In a rare return to the White House, Bill Clinton urged unhappy Democrats to unite behind Barack Obama’s embattled plan to avert a massive New Year’s tax hike.

“I personally believe this is a good deal, and the best he could have gotten under the circumstances,” the former president said as he and Obama paid a surprise visit to the White House briefing room after private talks.

Obama praised his guest — “he presided over as good an economy as we’ve seen in our lifetimes” — but quickly excused himself to go join his wife, First Lady Michelle Obama, at a holiday party.

Clinton, plainly relishing the spotlight, also pushed the US Senate to ratify a landmark nuclear arms control treaty with Russia and steeled Democrats routed in November elections for “a ferocious fight” with Republicans.

The former president, invited by Obama in the wake of that defeat, told insurgent Democrats he understood their anger at a compromise with Republicans to extend for two years a set of massive tax cuts due to expire January 1.

“However, the agreement taken as a whole is, I believe, the best bipartisan agreement we can reach to help the largest number of Americans and to maximize the chances that the economic recovery will accelerate and create more jobs and to minimize the chances that it will slip back,” said Clinton.

……Clinton, who highlighted how the plan extends unemployment benefits for 13 months, joked that he made “quite a bit of money now, so the position that the Republicans have urged will personally benefit me.” (Note to Bubba: send a blank check to the IRS if you don’t appreciate those “personal benefits”)
“And on its own, I wouldn’t support it because I don’t think that my tax cut is the most economically efficient way to get the economy going again,” said the former president, who is vastly popular.

The way to get the economy going is to cut taxes and spending, you moron. I know it goes against every leftwing sensibility you have, but it works.
Popular? Not with anyone who repects the office. Clinton left in disgrace. He was impeached for perjury, remember?
Aside from that, the son of a bitch, along with his sidekick algore, and the Hildabeast, commited treason (Chinagate), engaged in unethical activities, (Travelgate), and illegally obtained information on political enemies, i.e. Republicans. (FBIgate)

By the way, Clinton’s economy didn’t jive with the sales pitch:

Two unique events influenced the United States economy during Bill Clinton’s tenure. Many have forgotten these events and the result is a general misunderstanding of the real drivers behind the “Clinton Economy.”

1) Tim Berners-Lee invented the World Wide Web.

The web was released as a free service by the CERN research facility in 1993. A massive and unprecedented spending boom accompanied the popularization of the web.

2) Another anomalous, technology-related event was the “Year 2000” computer remediation effort (or “Y2K“). An immense repair investment — estimated at $300 billion — occurred in the late 1990’s as governments and companies rushed to make their legacy computer systems “Y2K-compliant.”

The massive surge in technology spending and productivity associated with these events were coincident with the Clinton Presidency. In fact, they had absolutely nothing to do with any program, initiative or legislation associated with the Clinton administration.

Put simply, Bobo the Chimpanzee could have been President during the late 90’s tech boom. Come to think of it, even a philandering, disbarred former attorney who sold missile secrets to the Chinese for campaign donations while allowing terrorists to relentlessly attack U.S. interests could have been President.

And the tech boom — the so-called “Clinton economy” — would have happened regardless.

I don’t recall any other time in history when a president was so incompetent, inept, and lost that he resorted to using a former president as a spokes-prop.

But then again, Obama is worse than Carter and Clinton combined.
