Too bad it was lethal injection instead of the same death he inflicted on those two girls.
HUNTSVILLE, Texas – Texas has executed Mexican-born condemned prisoner Jose Medellin for the rape and murder of two teenage girls 15 years ago.
The state carried out the execution late Tuesday night after the U.S. Supreme Court rejected his request for a reprieve in a split vote.
The 33-year-old Medellin had claimed he was denied treaty-guaranteed help from the Mexican consulate when he was arrested.
Texas authorities say he never invoked his consular rights until four years after he was arrested. By then, he had been convicted and condemned for participating in the attack on 16-year-old Elizabeth Pena and 14-year-old Jennifer Ertman.
The horrid details of exactly what Medellin and his illegal alien pals did:
Medellin was convicted of participating in the gang rape, beating and strangling of Elizabeth Pena, 16, and Jennifer Ertman, 14. He and five fellow gang members attacked the girls as they were walking home on a June night, raped and tortured them for an hour, then kicked and stomped them before using a belt and shoelaces to strangle them.
Even after all that, his relatives think the sentence was ‘too harsh’:
In Nuevo Laredo, Mexico, where Medellin was born, a small group of his relatives condemned his execution.
“Only God has the right to take a life,” said Medellin’s cousin Reyna Armendariz.
……A large black bow and a banner that read “No to the death penalty … may God forgive you,” hung from an iron fence in the front of the house where Medellin lived until moving to the United States at the age of 3.
Only God??? That was the last thing on the mind of your fucking worthless piece of shit cousin, when he took the lives of those two teenaged girls.
A statement from Mexico’s Foreign Relations Department said it was “concerned for the precedent that (the execution) may create for the rights of Mexican nationals who may be detained in that country.”
Oh, I certainly hope it sets a precedent; one that makes it abundantly clear that heinous crimes will be met with the appropriate justice, in this case, the death penalty.
Newsflash for Armendariz and company: Medellin EARNED his place on death row.
I just love how pious nutsacks keep bringing up the “God” factor to justify their aversion to the death penalty, under any circumstances.
I’m agnostic so “god” isn’t in the equation. I consider the criminal, the unmitigated suffering of the victim, and the circumstances.
The death penalty should be modified, i.e.: the punishment should actually fit the crime. If you commit a heinous, unprovocated act of murder, you will die. If you rape, strangle, and mutilate an innocent child, you will be put to death in the same manner. I don’t like lethal injection. It’s like putting your kitty-cat to sleep, and the rancid waste of a zygote doesn’t suffer like his victim. It’s time to get medieval.
