People are fed up.
Just two days after the Southwest pilots union asked a federal judge to block the company’s vaccine mandate, the airline canceled 1,800 flights this weekend, blaming bad weather.
“Southwest Airlines canceled more than 1,800 flights this weekend, disrupting the travel plans of thousands of customers and stranding flight crews, blaming the meltdown on a combination of bad weather, air traffic control and its own shortage of available staff,” reported CNBC.
In a note to staff on Sunday, Alan Kasher, executive vice president of daily flight operations, said that the airline “did not anticipate” the series of disruptions that arose over the weekend.
“I know this is incredibly difficult for all of you, and our customers are not happy,” said Kasher.
“Although we were staffed for the weekend, we could not anticipate the significant disruption that was created from unexpected ATC issues and bad weather across our Florida stations,” he added.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said bad weather and staffing issues in Florida contributed to a “few hours” of flight delays on Friday afternoon at the Jacksonville Air Route Traffic Control Center, which “controls airspace in five parts of Alabama, Georgia, Florida, North Carolina and South Carolina,” according to CNBC.
“No FAA air traffic staffing shortages have been reported since Friday,” the FAA said. “Some airlines continue to experience scheduling challenges due to aircraft and crews being out of place. Please contact the airlines for details about current flight schedules.”
American Airlines flight crews have joined the strike:
Workers at several airlines, including American Airlines (AA) and Southwest Airlines (SWA), have started protesting their companies’ COVID-19 vaccination mandates for workers.
Both airlines have told workers that they must be vaccinated or else face termination by November 24, before the busy holiday travel season begins. Both airlines allow employees to request religious or medical vaccine exemptions, though it’s unclear how many will be granted.
Hundreds of AA workers and allies protested outside the company’s Fort Worth, Texas headquarters on Thursday. The protesters told The Dallas Morning News that they are skeptical of the vaccines’ effectiveness and their unreported side effects.
……The Southwest Airlines Pilots Association (SWAPA), a union, has filed a lawsuit against SWA over its vaccine mandate, The Dallas Morning News reported. SWAPA has authorized its members to demonstrate against the mandate and strenuous working conditions during the pandemic. The union has also authorized $1 million in support of those protests, which could begin this fall, SWAPA president Casey Murray said.
A union for SWA mechanics has also issued a statement opposing the mandate on contractual grounds, the publication added.
Both companies put mandates into place to comply with federal requirements instated by Joe Biden. Biden said that all federal contractors need to vaccinate their employees by December 4. Both airlines have contracts with the federal government.
……Southwest received millions in government bailout money as a result of the COVID pandemic and Rep. Chip Roy is calling for the welfare queens of the sky to pay it all back for firing employees who decline to be jabbed.
The Texas Republican took to Twitter where he body-slammed Southwest, telling the airline to “Eat it” and announcing that he was crafting legislation to require all businesses to pay back their bailout money if they terminate employees as a result of Joe Biden’s end-around the Constitution by using the “public-private partnership” to do the administration’s dirty work.
……Roy made it clear that he stands with Southwest Airlines employees against the vaccine mandates and urged fellow Republicans in both the House and Senate to not support the airline the next time that they “come begging for a bailout,” which is inevitable since the precedent has already been established.
Last year, protests broke out across America in response to the draconian lockdown imposed by out of control government authoritarians. Now that the Biden regime has resorted to holding American lives and jobs hostage with threats over a forced unnecessary vax, citizens are making it clear that they won’t stand for it.
