Howard Zinn Socialist Matt Damon in Another Anti-U.S. Military Flick

What did anyone expect?

After all of Hollywood’s Iraq movies have flopped (even the Oscar-garlanded “The Hurt Locker” earned only $15 million at the box office), one studio thinks it has the following secret to success: The previous films didn’t insult the United States enough.

“Green Zone,” opening Friday, is a $100 million slime job that conjures up a fantastically distorted leftist version of the war and wraps it around a frantic but preposterous action picture. (Spoilers about the plot follow.)

Matt Damon plays Miller, an Army “chief” (chief warrant officer) assigned to searching for weapons of mass destruction in Baghdad in the opening days of the war in 2003.
The movie’s plot substitutes leftist lies for historical fact.
The preposterous part comes in almost immediately: After Chief Miller comes up dry a couple of times, he decides to launch a one-man internal-affairs investigation into US intelligence-gathering.

He bypasses his chain of command, endangers good men (when one of his Soldiers asks why he’s following a random Iraqi into what could well be an ambush, Miller snaps, “Put your game face on”) and forges a secret alliance against his fellow Soldiers with a Baghdad CIA officer (Brendan Gleeson).

Despite being guilty of gross insubordination, lying to his superiors and concealing important evidence from them (a notebook containing the addresses of Saddam’s top officers), Miller is the hero of the film.

Others we’re supposed to cheer for include Sunni officers who shoot down helicopters carrying American Soldiers sent to assassinate them. Those death squads are acting at the behest of a duplicitous Pentagon intelligence mandarin (Greg Kinnear) who has single-handedly drummed up a fake casus belli.

Before the war, he interviewed a general of Saddam’s who told him pointedly that there were no WMDs in Iraq after 1991 but that he’d be willing to work with the Americans after Saddam was deposed. The Kinnear figure then lied to a gullible reporter (Amy Ryan) that he had a rock-solid source, “Magellan,” who had given him proof of WMDs in Iraq.

……”Green Zone” tells US troops that all of their efforts have been based on a deliberate deception. Worse, it blames the insurgency that has killed so many of our fighting men and women on US treachery.

Damon is an avid fan of Howard Zinn’s communist-based historical revisions of American history. It stands to reason that an effete like Damon would jump at the chance to make such a movie.

He and the other 99.9% of leftwing Hollywood assholes are the primary reason I have not been to a movie theater in years. Not to mention the fact that most of the fare is garbage, anyway.

Damon took part in Zinn’s production of the “documentary” for the History Channel, because he’s an ideological soul mate.

Zinn’s communist ideology permeated his career, including his books. He was an avowed communist, and his affiliations reflected that.

That piece of tripe mistitled the “People’s History of the United States”, is nothing more than socialist rhetoric, and demonstrated that Zinn was quite incapable of accuracy:

In a 1998 interview with The Associated Press, Professor Zinn acknowledged that he was not trying to write an objective history, or a complete one. He called his book a response to traditional works, the first chapter, not the last, of a new kind of history.

“There’s no such thing as a whole story; every story is incomplete,” Professor Zinn said. “My idea was the orthodox viewpoint has already been done a thousand times.”

In other words he wrote his “history” book to suit his own political leanings. Having said that, it should have been titled “Howard Zinn’s History of the United States”.

Communism has only killed what, 100,000,000 people? Let’s give it another chance.

So, you’re from Finland. Wow. That’s impressive. When was the last time Finland was known for anything? The last time you were on the news radar was back in 1997, when Bubba Clinton met with Boris Yeltsin in Helsinki.

The United States has only existed as a nation for 235 years, but no other country has made as much of a difference or as much sacrifice defending others, including Europe, from the aggression of some pretty evil despots; especially in two world wars. For over 70 years, we stood vanguard in Europe against the Soviet Union, until it collapsed under the weight of its communist ‘utopia’. For a country that “reads books six times less likely” than your country, that ain’t bad.

Those facts presented as such, are omitted from Zinn’s “history”.

Incidentally, I’m very well read. I’ve read Das Kapital, the Communist Manifesto, the Koran, and Mein Kampf. I despise those philosophies and their practitioners, who inflict carnage in the name of their State or god. Their history speaks for itself.

The term “democratically elected socialist”, always cracks me up. “Democratic socialism” is an oxymoron. There’s NOTHING democratic about socialism. Socialist governments forcibly take from those who have earned, and gives it to those who don’t. The so-called “equal distribution” aspect of socialism stifles economic success and produces third world countries.

We believe in the Constitution of the United States, the Bill of Rights, free market enterprise and competition, and the Laissez-Faire economics of Adam Smith. Those foundations helped build a strong America, and if our elected officials would follow those principles, we wouldn’t have the $14 trillion debt we now have.

Obama’s socialist damage to our economy and national security will hopefully end in 2012.

“Damon is an avid fan of Howard Zinn’s communist-based historical revisions of American history.” Show me the parts in the book that imply any communism. Oh, I forgot you havent read the book. Why? Because you americans read books six times less likely than people in my country. Why? Because I live in a country historically lead by democratically elected socialists and your leaders still believe in Adam Smith.
