Yeah, they’re real impressed with Obamessaiah and world opinion.
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is expected to announce Thursday that the Islamic state has mastered the final stage of nuclear fuel production, Reuters reported.
Ahmadinejad referenced the uranium enrichment during a televised speech Wednesday on the eve of Iran’s celebration of National Nuclear Day. Nuclear analysts, however, doubt Iran can prove it has perfected the last phases of producing nuclear energy.
“A possible announcement will be production of natural uranium pellets (in Isfahan) for Iran’s Arak heavy water reactor and also production of fuel rods and assembling rods into bundles,” Reuters quoted an unidentified analyst. “It is the final stage in a long process to produce nuclear fuel.”
Iran has continued its uranium enrichment programs despite U.N. sanctions against it for doing so. Iran denies the goal of its enrichment plant is nuclear weapons.
In a February 19 report, the International Atomic Energy Agency reported it was suspicious of Iran’s planned Arak heavy water reactor, because Tehran had been denying visits by IAEA inspectors since August.
……Representatives of Britain, the U.S., the European Union, China, France, Germany and Russia met Wednesday in London.
In a statement the group said it welcomed the “new direction” of U.S. policy toward Iran and strongly urged Iran to take advantage of the opportunity for new dialogue.
Iran is busy refining their nuclear program for weapons production, and the group of international morons thinks the ‘new direction of U.S. policy’ (READ: chickenshit appeasment) is just hunky dory.
Oh, and they strongly urge Mahmoud to engage in ‘new dialogue’. Hold on, he’ll be right there.
The North Korean Gargoyle is just as impressed:
North Korea is preparing to launch three or four medium-range missiles, along with an ICBM, amid moves by Kim Jong Il to anoint his third son as heir to the world’s first communist dynasty, reports and experts said Tuesday.
South Korea’s Yonhap news agency said the North is preparing to fire three to four medium-range missiles from Anbyon on its east coast.
“Many vehicles mounted with mobile launchers are being spotted” at Anbyon, Yonhap quoted an unnamed government official saying. “It looks like at least three missiles will be launched.”
The North has also transported what is believed to be its most advanced intercontinental ballistic missile to a base near China in the west, officials confirmed.
Yonhap did not say when the medium-range missiles, possibly a version of the Rodong series, might be launched.
The reclusive communist country was showing other signs of belligerence. Reports say that over the past several days the North has strengthened its defenses and conducted amphibious assault exercises along its western shore that could be preparations for skirmishes at sea.
……The missile is believed to have a range of up to 4,000 miles (6,500 kilometers), the JoongAng Ilbo newspaper reported, citing an unnamed South Korean official. That would put Alaska and the Pacific island of Guam, which has major U.S. military assets, within range.
Satellite images indicated the North had transported the missile to the new Dongchang-ni facility near China and could be ready to be fired in the next week or so, Yonhap reported.
Maybe Obama can ‘strongly urge’ Kim Jong Il to ‘take advantage of the opportunity for new dialogue’.
It’s been working so well with Iran.
