The Taliban pounded on the door just before midnight, demanding that Aisha, 18, be punished for running away from her husband’s house. They dragged her to a mountain clearing near her village in the southern Afghan province of Uruzgan, ignoring her protests that her in-laws had been abusive, that she had no choice but to escape. Shivering in the cold air and blinded by the flashlights trained on her by her husband’s family, she faced her spouse and accuser. Her in-laws treated her like a slave, Aisha pleaded. They beat her. If she hadn’t run away, she would have died. Her judge, a local Taliban commander, was unmoved. Later, he would tell Aisha’s uncle that she had to be made an example of lest other girls in the village try to do the same thing. The commander gave his verdict, and men moved in to deliver the punishment. Aisha’s brother-in-law held her down while her husband pulled out a knife. First he sliced off her ears. Then he started on her nose. Aisha passed out from the pain but awoke soon after, choking on her own blood. The men had left her on the mountainside to die.

Look. only the religious fanatics do that. the true islamic(oh did I mention that I am Christian) people are peacful and give women power. Only the Taliban, Al-qaeda etc etc do this to women. also people recruited blindly by them….. i guess…

You guess? Fanaticism is at the core of Islam. They’re simply doing what the Koran instructs. Since when have any of the Islamic states “given” women any power? Name one Islamic country that’s headed by a female. Where are the so-called “moderate muslims” some people talk about? Check out the link I provided.
The fanatics are the mainstream of that particular religion. It’s been asserted that Islam is simply politics masquerading as religion, and there’s a lot of truth in that. If the world’s population of muslims don’t refute the extremism, or demonstrate that they are not extreme, it’s because they don’t want to.
This is my stock challenge to those who insist there’s such a thing as “moderate” muslims or Islam:
Tacit disapproval doesn’t count. Come out enmasse. Show the world the so-called “moderate muslims”. I want to see the phantom majority of those who ‘repudiate the mere notion of Islamic supremacy’. I mean by the millions; not a scant letter, post, or rare website. Take to the streets. Show up at the college campuses where Islamofascism has become part of the curriculum. Confront CAIR. Join the GWOT by taking up arms against the al Qaeda and Taliban. And while you’re at it, spread reform across the Middle East, Northern Africa, Indonesia, and Asia. Tell them they can bow to Mecca all fuckin’ day if they wish. Just do it peacefully and quit with the terrorism just because the rest of us won’t convert to a backwards cult.
Then, I might buy what you’re selling.
