Janet Napolitano said Friday she will resign as Homeland Security secretary, a departure of a key cabinet member that could complicate immigration politics in Congress. An Obama administration official said Ms. Napolitano plans to leave her post in early September. Her announcement comes as Congress wrestles with legislation that would overhaul the nation’s immigration laws. The Democratic-controlled Senate has passed a bill, and GOP leaders in the House may offer their own immigration measure.
Some Republicans have insisted the government tighten security along the U.S. border before allowing new immigration rules to go into effect. How tighter security would be accomplished—and how it would be measured—are big sticking points in the debate. The department and its agencies are responsible for border security and immigration enforcement.
She pats herself on the back:
Napolitano in a statement said the agency during her time at the helm had made travel safer, bolstered border security, helped states better respond to disasters and worked with companies to fight cyberattacks.
The president in a statement said she had “worked around the clock” on various disasters, including the 2011 Joplin, Mo., tornado and last year’s Hurricane Sandy. On immigration policy, he said: “Since day one, Janet has led my administration’s effort to secure our borders…while also taking steps to make our immigration system fairer and more consistent with our values.”
Her real accomplishments:
Napolitano and Obama compiled an Enemies List and Domestic Threat Assessment composed of Iraq/Afghanistan War veterans, outspoken Obama critics, anti-illegal alien activists, gun owners, white middle-class Americans, and Americans who covet individual liberties. By their definition, that makes me a threat.
Just a reminder: The TSA, created in 2002, has never stopped any terrorist from actually boarding an American commercial aircraft. But they utilize x-ray scanners, metal detectors, pat-downs, sexual molestations, strip searches, and federal air marshals, to target Kinder Eggs, whistleblowers, thermoses, refusniks, white middle class Americans, elderly people, mentally retarded people, leukemia patients, children, and Soldiers.
She kowtowed to muzzie extremists, granting them “trusted traveler” status. She undermined our immigration laws, allowing Mexican foreign nationals to skip right through airport security, and released thousands of illegal aliens from jail, blaming it on the sequester.
She perjured herself during testimony over Fast and Furious.
She changed the language of counter-terrorism to “man-caused disaster”.
She also amassed one hell of a weapons cache, in case any of the targets on her Enemies List get any funny ideas.
As for her move to California:
“University of California students can look forward to the same authoritarian management style Secretary Napolitano brought to the Department of Homeland Security, hardly a bastion of free speech and open government,” said Rep. Doug LaMalfa, a California Republican. “While I am pleased to see her leave Homeland Security, Napolitano’s views are entirely incompatible with the UC system’s history of civil liberties and the decision to appoint her is perplexing.”
This is certainly perplexing, considering all she’s done to subvert our immigration laws and how little she’s actually done to secure the borders:
Those views were echoed by immigrant-rights advocates who predicted Ms. Napolitano’s move to run the school system, expected in September, will be “met with protests.”
“UC should take the opportunity to thoroughly examine her record in Arizona and at DHS to see if it reflects the university’s values before they confirm her to this important post,” said Chris Newman, legal director for the Los Angeles-based National Day Laborer Organizing Network.
Don’t worry pendejo, if she does the same job at UC as she did as DHS chief, you’ve got nothing to fear.
