John Murtha: crook, corrupt Congressman, and slanderer of the military, dead at 77.
Rep. John Murtha of Pennsylvania, a longtime fixture on the House subcommittee that oversees Pentagon spending, died after complications from gallbladder surgery, according to his office. He was 77.
Just a few items the MSM will omit from his obituary:
Representative John P. Murtha (D-PA) is a nineteen-term member of Congress, representing Pennsylvania’s 12th congressional district. Rep. Murtha chairs the Defense Appropriations Subcommittee of the House Appropriations Committee. Rep. Murtha’s ethics issues and violations stem from (1) his ties to the PMA Group, a now defunct lobbying firm under federal investigation; (2) his ties to Kuchera Industries, a defense contractor under federal investigation; (3) his ties to defense executives and former military personnel convicted of skimming money from government contracts; (4) actions he may have taken to benefit his brother’s lobbying clients; and (5) his chief of staff’s threats to a political opponent. Rep. Murtha was included in CREW’s 2006, 2007, and 2008 reports on congressional corruption.
Examples of Murtha’s moonbattery:

Murtha: ‘U.S. Top Threat to World Peace’
His hubris and total disrespect for Senate procedure:
On 3 August 2007, Murtha ignored the opposition and pushed his preference through without a vote. He brushed aside and violated the rules of procedure.
On he threatened a fellow Representative for daring to vote against one of Murtha’s pork barrel earmarks. Murtha said “I hope you don’t have any earmarks in the defense appropriations bills because they are gone, and you will not get any earmarks now and forever”.
His public disrespect for Iraq/Afghanistan veterans.
Army SGT Mark Seavey, who served in Afghanistan confronted Murtha about his comment that ‘Soldiers are demoralized’, during a Townhall meeting. Murtha not only lacked the guts to answer the young Sergeant’s point, but he was dismissed by an aide who sat by him, saying “That wasn’t in the form of a question, that was in the form of a statement”, and pointed to another questioner.
His aides threatened a political rival, he denigrated the military, he bad-mouthed our war effort in Iraq and Afghanistan, he was an unofficial frontrunner for King of Pork, and he was one of the most corrupt government officials, ever. It’s too bad he never got impeached or tried for his crimes.
