The recent shit-fits by the Left over the hacking of private email/voicemail messages of politicians, celebrities, and murder victims by a few reporters at the now defunct News of the World, brings out their glaring bias and double standards.
Speaking of scandals, where was the Left’s outrage when CNN held back stories of Saddam Hussein’s atrocities in exchange for keeping their Baghdad bureau open? Where was the anger over Dan Rather’s “fake but accurate” lies about George W. Bush? Or CNN/Time Magazine’s slander when they falsely accused U.S. Air Force A1E Skyraiders of dropping CBU-15 Cluster Bomb Units containing Sarin (nerve gas) in Laos (Operation Tailwind) during the Vietnam War?
When Joe Wurzelbacher was targeted by Obama’s lackeys for daring to confront his “spread the wealth” crap, the Left didn’t have any problem with that. As a matter of fact, they got their panties in a wad over the wiretapping surveillance of terrorists, instead.
They’re having seizures over the hacking offense, but none of them have any problems with a much bigger, more ominous scandal, the Obama/Holder gunrunning operation that cost the lives of U.S. Border Patrol agents, and put weapons in the hands of Mexican thugs.
Well, the leftwing media does have its own priorities, like selling Obama’s shit sandwich.
Ostensibly, British law requires “impartiality” in T.V. reporting. READ: Must mimic the BBC, which in spite of its leftwing proclivities, is considered “impartial”.
Janet Daley points out:
……But the power of the BBC – and its historical hatred for the “Murdoch empire” – is just one aspect of a larger battle which has now leapt across the Atlantic, where the target is not newspapers which can be legitimately charged with having committed unconscionable acts, but Fox News. Its offence is to have filled such a huge gap in the market for television news and current affairs that it has swept all before it. Its raucous Right-wing orientation is, in fact, matched by an equally raucous Left-wing equivalent in the cable news channel MSNBC, so why should anyone who believes in open and free debate among news providers object to this?
……The problem is that Fox’s audience share is enormous, by far the largest of any cable news channel, whereas MSNBC’s is tiny, the smallest of any cable news channel. People are voting with their remotes for the kind of opinions they want to hear and the result is infuriating for the Left-liberal axis – and particularly for the Obama White House, which has made no secret of its desire to shut Fox News down.
……The Left does not want a debate or an open market in ideas. It wants to extirpate its opponents – to remove them from the field. It actually seems to believe that it is justified in snuffing out any possibility of our arguments reaching the impressionable masses – and bizarrely, it defends this stance in the name of fairness.
The leftwing British media, including the Guardian and the BBC, started attacking Murdoch in 2009 when he switched from the Labour Party to conservatives. Hacking into private messages is a serious crime, but the only tabloid that’s getting hell is the NoTW, when it’s an open secret that phone hacking is a standard practice of British tabloids.
During the Murdoch’s three hour grilling at the hands of British lawmakers, they answered nearly all of the questions tossed at them by members of Parliament, and did not hide behind the shield of an “ongoing criminal investigation”.
The Euros are prone to drama like this and tabloids flourish all over the continent. They thrive on scandal and they love reading all the dirty bits and pieces of a celebrity’s life.
Simple-minded people scarf up scandal sheets by the thousands. They thrive on the juicy details of people’s personal lives, regardless of the source. Now they have a sudden attack of righteous indignation after it’s revealed that the gossip mongers at NofTW engaged in illegal activities used to feed the maws of the ravenous public. Remember that the next time you see some fat heifer picking up a copy of the National Enquirer in the checkout line.
Another accusation leveled at NoTW is that it tried to hack into the private voicemails of the 9/11 families. Let me dissect that one quickly.
The source of the 9/11 families accusation is “British media reports” that said “a former New York policeman turned private investigator” claimed he was approached by NofTW to help with the hacking.
A source told the Daily Mirror: ‘This investigator is used by a lot of journalists in America and he recently told me that he was asked to hack into the 9/11 victims’ private phone data.
‘He said that the journalists asked him to access records showing the calls that had been made to and from the mobile phones belonging to the victims and their relatives.
‘His presumption was that they wanted the information so they could hack into the relevant voicemails, just like it has been shown they have done in the UK. The PI said he had to turn the job down. He knew how insensitive such research would be, and how bad it would look.’
The source said that the journalists were interested in getting the phone records belonging to the British victims of the attacks.
U.S. officials said the FBI is trying to determine if a full investigation is warranted, and no evidence has yet emerged to confirm that News Corp. employees sought to hack phones in the United States.
If anyone wants to listen in on some of the harrowing last conversations between the victims of the Islamofascist 9/11 atrocity and their families and 911 operators, YouTube carries a shitload of them.
Here’a a link to one, for example:
His name was Kevin Cosgrove. He was in the North tower.
Her name was Betty Ong. She was on Flight 11.
Her name was Melissa Doi. She was also in the World Trade Center.
I see a pattern there.
Whistleblower Sean Hoare, who blew the lid on the scandal, committed suicide. He was a paranoid reclusive alcoholic who thought the ’Government was coming to get him’. The perpetual conspiracy theory moonbats will have a field day, that includes the Guardian.
Murdoch’s News Corp has hundreds of assets. NoTW was just a small portion. If the Left has pinned its hopes on this scandal filtering all the way to Fox News, they’re gonna get their little hearts busted. They’re salivating over the possible demise of Fox News. The Guardian, notorious for hating Fox and other conservative news outlets, has let its posturing and “what ifs” get the best of what little credibility it has.
BTW: Murdoch’s News Corp stock just jumped.
There’s a concerted effort on the part of the leftwing media and Obama to not just censor, but shut down the only cable news organization that refuses to serve as Obama’s tool.
Bottom line: The ultimate target of the Left’s spit-flecked anger is Fox News. In a television news market comprised mostly of leftwing networks, Fox News provides opposition and alternative viewpoints. And it usually wins in the ratings, hands down. If the leftwing moonbats think this will bring Murdoch’s News Corp and (ultimately) Fox News crashing down, keep dreaming.
It ain’t gonna happen.

While very well put forth, you’ve missed the penultimate hypocrisy of the Left in this issue – They’ve sided with Manning, Assange , Wikileaks, Anonymous, and Lulzsec and held them up as heroes, but they have a problem with NoW?
I covered those points in the subsequent post:
