A former appointee of Democratic Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz is being sought in connection with the assassination of a state lawmaker and the shooting of another, police sources said.
Vance Luther Boelter allegedly posed as a police officer when he shot Sen. John Hoffman and his wife in their Champlin home early Saturday, leaving them seriously injured before moving on to former Democratic House Speaker Melissa Hortman’s house, where he is believed to have slaughtered her and her husband, sources told The Post.
He left behind a “manifesto” listing the names of 70 politicians, including Walz and his Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan, and a stack of papers stating “No Kings” in reference to the nationwide anti-Trump protests, according to police.

The apparent hit list included abortion providers, clinics and Planned Parenthood, sources told The Post. Both of the Democrats he targeted were pro-choice.
……..Officials were mum on the motives — though it came just five days after Hortman sided with Republican leaders as the lone Democrat to cut access to state health benefits for illegal immigrants in the North Star State.
Walz early on said the attack was clearly a “politically motivated assassination.” President Trump also reiterated the likely political motivations, but did not divulge any details.
“I have been briefed on the terrible shooting that took place in Minnesota, which appears to be a targeted attack against State Lawmakers,” he wrote on Truth Social.
The killer is still on the loose despite exchanging gunfire with officers who responded to Hortman’s home and briefly cornered him inside.
…….He and his wife ran Praetorian Guard Security Services, an armed security service that charged $2,400 per month for its top-tier membership, which offered “8 random armed patrols each week of your property.”
He was twice appointed to posts by Democratic governors, serving on the Workforce Development Council in 2016 under then-Gov. Mark Dayton, and appointed by Walz in 2019 to serve a four-year stint on the Workforce Development Board, documents show.
In his early-morning remarks, Walz did not reveal that the suspect was his own appointee.

Democratic Minnesota State Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband were shot and killed in their home overnight in an apparent act of political violence, and Democratic State Sen. John Hoffman and his wife were shot and severely wounded in their home.
Authorities said Saturday that the suspect is believed to have impersonated a law enforcement officer and exchanged gunfire with police overnight, and that the suspect remains at large. Numerous law enforcement entities are engaged in a major manhunt to locate and apprehend the suspect, and local residents have been instructed to shelter in place.
During a Saturday morning press conference, authorities said police recovered a manifesto with a list of political figures from a vehicle at Hortman’s home that included Hortman and Hoffman. Police officials at the conference told residents not to respond to police at their door unless they see two officers together and to call 911 to verify the officers’ identities.
Police confirmed that a vehicle with police lights was parked at Hortman’s house when officers arrived at the scene.
……..Officials at the press conference told reporters that police are looking for several “people of interest.” Police also confirmed at a later press conference they were seeking multiple individuals, though the shooter is still at large.
Authorities stated that they found “No Kings” fliers in the suspect’s vehicle and asked people not to participate in the scheduled anti-Trump “No Kings” protests round the state on Saturday “out of an abundance of caution” in a post to Facebook.
The violence Dems have inspired just came back to bite them in the ass.
