UPDATED:
The bad news is that two civilians are dead. The good news is, so is the piece of shit muzzie.
From Fox News.
Police say three people are dead — including the gunman — after authorities stormed a Sydney cafe early Tuesday, bringing to a dramatic end a 16-hour standoff in which a jihadist and murder suspect held an unknown number of hostages in a scene much of the world watched on television.
A series of explosions, believed to be gunshots and flash grenades, came just before 2:30 a.m. local time as several more hostages fled Lindt Chocolat Cafe, where a man identified as Man Haron Monis, an Iranian also known for sending hate mail to the families of fallen Soldiers, was holed up with an unknown number of captives. Authorities told The Associated Press that Monis was killed during the confrontation with police.
A female hostage was shot in the leg, an official told The Associated Press, one of at least three people hospitalized for injuries and shock. At least two people were wheeled out of the cafe on stretchers and a weeping woman was helped out by police.
One gurney was carrying what appeared to be a man lying under a blood-soaked sheet with a bloody handprint in the center. A woman with blood-covered feet lay on a second.
“Police and paramedics have stormed the building,” the Sydney Morning Herald reported. “Dozens of continuous bangs and possibly gun shots have lit up the sky.”
Authorities are scheduled to give a press conference about the situation soon.
Several people were taken from the building on stretchers as an alarm rang and police in riot gear moved in and out of the shop, in the heart of Australia’s largest city’s business district. A bomb disposal robot was seen being deployed in the shop, though police said the standoff was over. The handful of hostages seen fleeing as the explosions echoed through the predawn air followed escapes hours earlier by five captives.
“Sydney siege is over. More details to follow” New South Wales police posted on Twitter.
For hours, television news crews had broadcast footage of frightened hostages looking out through the front window. Initially, police did not identify Monis, though they knew he was the suspect inside. His identity was known early on to police and media alike, but was only released for the record by police sources as night fell on Sydney with the nation transfixed on the televised scene.
During the evening hours on Monday, several people were seen with their arms in the air and hands pressed against the glass, and two people were seen holding up a black flag associated with Islamic fanaticism. Australian broadcaster Network Ten reported that Monis, seen wielding a shotgun and a machete, has forced hostages to call him “The Brother” and demanded to speak directly with Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott.
……Monis, who reportedly emigrated to Australia in 1996, is known in Australia for his public campaign of writing letters to the families of fallen Soldiers calling them “murderers” and urging the recipients to lobby the government to withdraw from Afghanistan. Haron was charged in 2009 with using the postal service to harass in a case he fought all the way to Australia’s highest court, which dismissed his appeal.
Last year, he was charged in connection with the murder of his ex-wife in a case that is pending as Monis is free on bail. He was charged earlier this year with sexual assault of a woman who went to his office in New South Wales for “spiritual healing.”
Original story:
From ABC News.
An armed man entered the Lindt cafe in Martin Place before 10:00am (AEDT) and has held staff and customers hostage all day.
New South Wales Deputy Police Commissioner Catherine Burn said police were negotiating with the man.
……A man wearing a backpack and bandana, and waving what appeared to be a gun, could be seen directing hostages inside the cafe.
At one point, he appeared to use a hostage as a human shield as he moved through the building.
……Hostages were seen pressing a black flag displaying Arabic text against the cafe window soon after police were called to the busy pedestrian thoroughfare.
The text on the flag said: “There is no God but Allah and Muhammad is the messenger of God.”
……A man at the scene told ABC News he saw a woman try to enter the cafe before she reported seeing a man inside with a gun.
“There was a bit of a kerfuffle and the next thing she said, there was a blue bag, and she said ‘there’s a gun in the bag’, and then the commotion started.
“She told everyone to get going and we’re running out of the building.”
……CBD cafe owner Chris Dion said people coming into his business were “terrified”.
“We’ve got the TV on here. Everybody is coming in to have a look and see what’s going on in Martin Place,” he said.
“I’m in disbelief to be honest.
“We live in a beautiful country and this is happening right here in Sydney?”
Good question. Here’s your answer: Whether it’s a lone attacker or a cell, it’s because they can and because Western civilization has yet to declare war on a subculture that worships a violent theocracy with a taste for blood. There’s a world-wide network of like-minded muzzie vermin who kill innocent people for ‘Allah’. Unless or until democracies are willing to exact the same brutality to preserve and protect the lives of their own citizens, this war ain’t over by a long shot.

I have said it before that the western nations of people won’t do anything because they don’t want to hurt the “ass’ I’m sorry i ment Isis oops! I did it again Muslims” feelings.
