National Guard troops will head to the U.S.-Mexico border Aug. 1 for a yearlong deployment to keep a lookout for illegal border crossers and smugglers and help in criminal investigations, federal officials said Monday.
The troops will be armed, but can use their weapons only to protect themselves, Gen. Craig McKinley, chief of the National Guard Bureau said at a Pentagon news conference. The troops will undergo initial training and be fully deployed along the nearly 2,000-mile southern border by September.
Right. I can just see a Courts Martial for the first Soldier who is forced to kill an MS13 punk, a drug smuggler, or any other illegal alien, after they get shot at. The ROE for this mission will be just as fucked up as “Karzai’s 12 Rules” in Afghanistan. Whenever the Border Patrol uses necessary deadly force, the fucking ACLU and every radical illegal alien advocate group in the country, has a frothing ballistic fit.
The deployment announcement comes as drug-related violence has escalated in Mexico. Several people were killed over the weekend in a car bombing and in a separate massacre at a private party in Mexico. It also comes as the U.S. debate over illegal immigration has intensified in this election year.
“The border is more secure and more resourced than it has ever been, but there is more to be done,” said Alan Bersin, commissioner of Customs and Border Protection, part of the Homeland Security Department.
“More secure and more resourced than it has ever been”? That’s bullshit on stilts.
The 1,200 troops will be distributed among four border states, with Arizona getting 524; Texas, 250; California, 224 and New Mexico, 72. Another 130 would be assigned to a national liaison office.
Bersin also said the Homeland Security Department will provide six more aircraft, including helicopters, to the border. He said at least 300 Customs and Border Protection agents and inspection officers would be sent to the Tucson area, along with mobile surveillance vans and additional technology.

This piecemeal shit is nothing less than Kabuki theater. 1200 troops for 2000 miles of border is not enough.
This is the solution: Secure the border with a wall, (high and deep) supplemented with guard towers, high-powered rifles with scopes, night-vision equipment, roving patrols, tracking dogs, and motion sensors. Give the Border Patrol the weaponry they need to do their job. Have the Army Corps of Engineers on hand to seek and destroy the underground tunnels already in existence or currently being dug by South-of the Border thugs. This is not an extreme suggestion, considering that illegal aliens and terrorists, with the support of the Mexican government, have been able to infiltrate at will. The Mexican Army has contributed to this crime by crossing into U.S. territory and shooting at the U.S. Border Patrol. I don’t know what they call that in the Senate, but in my Army we call it an act of war. The Mexican government, headed by yet another of string of corrupt politicians, has yet to fix their country or stem the tide of illegals. They in fact, encourage them. It should not be the duty of the United States and our tax-paying legal residents to pick up the slack for a country that refuses to economically haul itself into the 21st century.
The federal government, who seems to have a problem with border states stepping up to the plate, is not yet serious about stopping this invasion.
