Obama’s Opulence Safe From Sequester

My tax money paid for this, and I didn’t even get a ticket to the damned concert.

A ‘Memphis Soul’ concert for Obama at the White House.

A host of legendary soul stars joined first lady Michelle Obama and scores of schoolchildren at the White House today to explore the history and sound of Memphis soul music.

Sam Moore, Mavis Staples, Charlie Musselwhite, Ben Harper and Justin Timberlake, all of whom are in the lineup for tonight’s In Performance at the White House show, joined Obama in the State Dining Room for an interactive student workshop on soul.

“The White House is buzzing with excitement today as we celebrate the rhythmic groove of Memphis soul,” declared Obama, dressed in a buttercup yellow pants suit and coral top, as she introduced the musicians. “Yes! Memphis is in the house!”

Staples, the renowned gospel singer, told the students she didn’t like to rehearse. “My dad told me that my voice is a gift from God and if I don’t use it he’ll take it back,” reported USA TODAY’s Korina Lopez. “Ever since then I was the first one at rehearsal.”

Tonight is the 10th In Performance show the Obamas have hosted since taking office…

……Meanwhile, other stars scheduled to perform tonight, including Al Green, Queen Latifah and Cyndi Lauper, were rehearsing elsewhere at the White House.

He also makes sure that the landscaping at the U.S. Ambassador’s residence in Brussels, Belgium is all nice and pretty.

Just over a week after sequestration took effect, the State Department allotted more than $700,000 for gardening at a U.S. Ambassador’s residence in Brussels, Belgium.

On March 11, State awarded a contract to provide gardening services at an “official residence” of the U.S. Mission in Belgium.

……The total award comes to $704,198.30, including $134,744 for the base year and four one-year option periods thereafter.

……The award came just 10 days after automatic across-the-board cuts, known as the sequester, took effect on March 1. Prior to the cuts taking effect, Secretary of State John Kerry warned that the sequester could “seriously impair our ability to execute our vital missions of national security, diplomacy and development.”

In a letter to Sen. Barbara Mikulski (D-Md.) on Feb. 11, Kerry said sequestration means $2.6 billion less in fiscal year 2013 for State Department programs.

“These cuts would severely impair our efforts to enhance the security of U.S. government facilities overseas and ensure the safety of the thousands of U.S. diplomats serving the American people abroad,” he said.

Don’t you worry, Kerry.  Even if the diplomats aren’t safe, the lawns will sure look spiffy.

No taxpayer expense is spared on B. Hussein’s and MoMo’s vaycays, as well as his frequent trips to the golf course.

But even a would-be Emperor must make sacrifices; he  furloughed the assistant chef.

The sequester also forced him to release thousands of detained illegal aliens back out onto the streets of America.

It’s not just Dear Leader who feels the strain.  The poor staffers who work for Debbie Wasserman-Schultz will starve if cutbacks take place.

17 Air Force Combat Air Squadrons had to be grounded because military readiness isn’t as important as funding Obama’s muslim terrorist pals, or conducting research on robotic squirrels, fat lesbians, and pot-smoking, menstruating monkeys.

Priorities.
