For you poor schmucks who had your insurance dropped due to the impending ObamaCare disaster, your personal information will be spread around like Cheez Whiz.
What you provide can and will be used against you.
Maryland’s Health Connection, the state’s Obamacare marketplace, has been plagued by delays in the first days of open enrollment. If users are able to endure long page-loading delays, they are presented with the website’s privacy policy, a ubiquitous fine-print feature on websites that often go unread. Nevertheless, users are asked to check off a box that they agree to the terms.
The policy contains many standard statements about information automatically collected regarding Internet browsers and IP addresses, temporary “cookies” used by the site, and website accessibility. However, at least two conditions may give some users pause before proceeding.
The first is regarding personal information submitted with an application for those users who follow through on the sign up process all the way to the end. The policy states that all information to help in applying for coverage and even for making a payment will be kept strictly confidential and only be used to carry out the function of the marketplace. There is, however, an exception: “[W]e may share information provided in your application with the appropriate authorities for law enforcement and audit activities.” Here is the entire paragraph from the policy the includes the exception [emphasis added]:
“Should you decide to apply for health coverage through Maryland Health Connection, the information you supply in your application will be used to determine whether you are eligible for health and dental coverage offered through Maryland Health Connection and for insurance affordability programs. It also may be used to assist you in making a payment for the insurance plan you select, and for related automated reminders or other activities permitted by law. We will preserve the privacy of personal records and protect confidential or privileged information in full accordance with federal and State law. We will not sell your information to others. Any information that you provide to us in your application will be used only to carry out the functions of Maryland Health Connection. The only exception to this policy is that we may share information provided in your application with the appropriate authorities for law enforcement and audit activities.”
It doesn’t specify the ‘appropriate authorities’ or what type of activities that would trigger such “law enforcement and audit” procedures.
The official ObamaCare site warns:
“You have no reasonable expectation of privacy regarding any communication or data transiting or stored on this information system,”
“At any time, and for any lawful Government purpose, the government may monitor, intercept, and search and seize any communication or data transiting or stored on this information system.”
That little gem is buried in the website’s blueprint, known as “source code”. It doesn’t appear on the “Terms and Conditions” page.
As if ObamaCare isn’t bad enough, you’ll have to worry about corrupt bureaucrats and hackers rifling through your personal background.
By the way, the Feds are protecting the very ObamaCare employees who snoop on you:
Even as Washington gets heat for snooping on ordinary Americans and warning them that they “have no reasonable expectation of privacy” on Healthcare.gov, federal officials are increasingly using the “personal privacy” exemption in the law to shield their employees from scrutiny, according to open government advocates.
Information about pay bonuses, disciplinary actions and severance packages are being withheld by federal agencies citing the personal privacy concerns of their employees.
Their privacy is more important than yours.
Identity thieves, even the ones working for ObamaCare, will have a fuckin’ field day. Cyber-squatters—internet scammers who set up fake websites—have popped up all over the place.
More than 700 websites have been created with names playing off the ObamaCare or Healthcare.gov, making it likely that some Americans will mistakenly hand over private information to unknown third-parties.
For instance, there is a website — www.obama-care.us — that brands itself as part of the “Obamacare enrollment team,” directs people to an “Obamacare enrollment form” and asks users for their name, address, Social Security number and other contact information. According to a counter at the bottom of the page, more than 3,000 people have visited obama-care.us.
This website does not actually enable people to enroll in Obamacare. It was registered with GoDaddy.com on Sept. 2 — less than a month before the official launch of the health care exchange websites — according to who.is, a website that provides information on internet domains and their owners.
At least 3000 suckers can now look forward to having their identity stolen. Or as Rightlinks Blog puts it: “If you find an ObamaCare site that’s working, it’s probably fake.”
If you cast your vote for Obama and you are now being forced into his socialist monstrosity, pat yourselves on the back.
