Patrick Kennedy Won’t Seeking Re-election

Gotta love it. Another Dem out of the 2010 election picture, and it’s a Kennedy.
The last Kennedy in Congress.

Rep. Patrick Kennedy has decided not to seek re-election to Congress, saying his life is “taking a new direction” just months after the death of his father and mentor, Sen. Edward Kennedy.

The Rhode Island Democrat taped a message to be aired on the state’s television stations Sunday night. The Associated Press viewed the message Thursday, ahead of the announcement.
“Now having spent two decades in politics, my life is taking a new direction, and I will not be a candidate for re-election this year,” Kennedy says in the ad.

The decision by the eight-term congressman comes less than a month after a stunning Republican upset in the race for the Massachusetts Senate seat his father held for almost half a century.

Patrick Kennedy has been in and out of treatment for substance abuse since crashing his car outside the U.S Capitol in 2006. Still, he has been comfortably re-elected twice since then, after making mental health care his signature issue in Washington.

Read the comments at the link. You know it’s bad when New England denizens are sick of the Kennedys. After 60 years of mafia connections, corruption, homicide, treason, and rape, the Kennedys are finally out of office. I sincerely hope the rest of the endless supply of the clan decides to stay on the sidelines.

The best Kennedy quote, evah:

“I don’t need Bush’s tax cut. I’ve never worked a fucking day in my life.”

Buh bye Patches. Do us all a favor and fade into obscurity.

    it’s your round!!!

there are still enuff of them to go around….

just don’t ride with any of them near water…

  2. No family in American history – not the Roosevelt, not the Adams, and certainly not the Bush families – have paid a higher price in the service of the people than the Kennedys. And to be perfectly honest with you, I’m sick and tired of listening to them get kicked around by the clueless right wing.

It was announced yesterday that Ben Quayle, son of the former vice-president, will be running for congress. We here, at this glorious moment in the history of our great nation, are proud and privileged to bear witness to the birth of the Quayle family political dynasty.

    I need a drink.

    1. Tom,

Here….have a kleenex. I’m sick of people idolizing a clan of corrupt politicians who usually got by, and out of serious trouble, because of their money and their family name. Enough. When it comes to clues, those who worship at the Kennedy Dynasty altar need desperately to get one.

Quite frankly, I’d trust a Quayle over a Kennedy. And besides, you know if they screw up, the MSM and lefties like you will make sure they get kicked around plenty.

The Kennedy ‘mystique’ has finally worn out.

      I’ll drink to that!
