Quote of the Day

How can 2 million black people get into Washington DC in sub zero temps in 1 day when 200,000 couldn’t get out of New Orleans at 85 degrees with four days notice?

Good question.

Amen. We’re seeing a prime example working it’s way through the Congress, even as we cringe.

Direct the question to the (Democrat) Governor of the State and the (Democrat) Mayor of the city. It was they who told FEMA and the Red Cross, just to name two relief agencies, to stay away at the precise moment they could have done the most good. And before noting that D.C. is also run by Democrats, remember that the Federal Enclave was under a Republican Administration on Inauguration Day. Case closed.

Agreed. I already knew the answer to the rhetorical question. I posted that quote in the hopes that it would cause people to think about the contrast between how Democrats and Republicans view personal responsibility.

The reasons for what went wrong in New Orleans can be found simply by observing the way the government and the population in Louisiana mishandled the entire clusterfuck. The comparison of D.C. as opposed to New Orleans is one of motivation and accountability. Some people can only be persuaded to get off their lazy asses and move as long as there’s something in it for them. When the government takes on the role of babysitter, they’re not as likely to take the initiative.
