One of Obama’s wet dreams, no doubt.
From the Washington Times.
Imagine Tea Party extremists seizing control of a South Carolina town and the Army being sent in to crush the rebellion. This farcical vision is now part of the discussion in professional military circles.
At issue is an article in the respected Small Wars Journal titled “Full Spectrum Operations in the Homeland: A ‘Vision’ of the Future.”
It was written by retired Army Col. Kevin Benson of the Army’s University of Foreign Military and Cultural Studies at Fort Leavenworth, Kan., and Jennifer Weber, a Civil War expert at the University of Kansas. It posits an “extremist militia motivated by the goals of the ‘tea party’ movement” seizing control of Darlington, S.C., in 2016, “occupying City Hall, disbanding the city council and placing the mayor under house arrest.” The rebels set up checkpoints on Interstate 95 and Interstate 20 looking for illegal aliens. It’s a cartoonish and needlessly provocative scenario.
The article is a choppy patchwork of doctrinal jargon and liberal nightmare. The authors make a quasi-legal case for military action and then apply the Army’s Operating Concept 2016-2028 to the situation. They write bloodlessly that “once it is put into play, Americans will expect the military to execute without pause and as professionally as if it were acting overseas.” They claim that “the Army cannot disappoint the American people, especially in such a moment,” not pausing to consider that using such efficient, deadly force against U.S. citizens would create a monumental political backlash and severely erode government legitimacy.
The vision is hard to take seriously. As retired Army Brig. Gen. Russell D. Howard, a former professor at West Point, observed earlier in his career, “I am a colonel, colonels write a lot of crazy stuff, but no one listens to colonels, so I don’t see the problem.” Twenty years ago, then-Air Force Lt. Col. Charles J. Dunlap Jr. created a stir with an article in Parameters titled “The Origins of the American Military Coup of 2012.” It carried a disclaimer that the coup scenario was “purely a literary device intended to dramatize my concern over certain contemporary developments affecting the armed forces, and is emphatically not a prediction.”
The scenario presented in Small Wars Journal isn’t a literary device but an operational lay-down intended to present the rationale and mechanisms for Americans to fight Americans. Col. Benson and Ms. Weber contend, “Army officers are professionally obligated to consider the conduct of operations on U.S. soil.”
This is a dark, pessimistic and wrongheaded view of what military leaders should spend their time studying.
The scenario makes no mention of the REAL threats from the “Occupy” moonbats, who have already committed acts of vandalism, rapes, and assault, and left devastation and filth in every city where they’ve demonstrated, or muzzie terrorist shitbags who operate carte blanche on American soil.
When an Army officer at the Joint Forces Staff College in Norfolk, Virginia, put together a fact-based presentation titled: “A Counter-Jihad Op Design Model, which made mention of our war against radical Islam, he was summarily dismissed. Can’t offend the enemy. It might make America look politically incorrect.
I was a Soldier for a total of 30 years (10 Reserve, 20 Active) and I cannot remember a time in our history when the Army would target peaceful outspoken patriots over Islamic terrorists and anarchists.
If Col. Benson and Ms. Weber need material for a real-life civil war, they need look no further than the oppressive, tyrannical big socialist government that Obama has created the last 4 years. The government is totally out of control with arrogance and abuse of power. The federal government as it stands now, is as big a threat to American freedoms as the muslim zealots and “Occupy” idiots. To get an idea of just how ominous it is, Obama just signed into law, an executive order granting him TOTAL control over the nation’s communications network in the event of a “crisis”.
His and the Dems trampling of the Constitution, has angered a large population in this country that will no longer tolerate the bullshit.
Janet “Big Sis” Napolitano and Obama have compiled an Enemies List and Domestic Threat Assessment composed of Iraq/Afghanistan War veterans, outspoken Obama critics, anti-illegal alien activists, gun owners, white middle-class Americans, and Americans who covet individual liberties.
Take a good look at the stark contrast between the Tea Party and the “Occupy” protests. Tea Party Patriots demand accountability from elected officials and a return to the concepts in the U.S. Constitution. “Occupy” thugs want a total overthrow of everything, including that business you built. The Obama regime will embrace the “Occupy” scumbags, but if you raise hell over the ObamaCare Frankenstein, then you’re a terrorist.
By the way, the comments about the article on the Small Wars Journal are just as critical as mine.
Col Benson and Ms. Weber need to keep this in mind:
“When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty.”

The “taxation” the Colonel refers to would be much more likely in Michigan by Muslims collecting Dhimmi from non-muslims. Specifically, Jews and Christians who didn’t convert; pagans and atheists may be shot with impunity.

Well said indeed. The sickening ignorance of the writers of the original article (Benson and Weber) should be an example of how far our country has fallen under the current corrupt administration.
Very well said, there may be hope your generation yet! You obviously have not been drinking the kool aid. My only wish is that there needs to be more folks with this similar vision. I would be proud to call you a fellow Patriot!
PS: You left out “Liberal Trolls” in your bio.
