Russia’s parliament drives another nail in Georgia’s coffin.
MOSCOW (AP) – The Russian parliament is asking the president to recognize Georgia’s two breakaway regions as independent.
The unanimous vote by the parliament’s lower chamber follows a similar vote by the upper house earlier Monday.
The vote to recognize South Ossetia and Abkhazia as independent from Georgia was not legally binding and it was up for President Dmitry Medvedev to make the final call.

Putin’s sockpuppet, Medvedev, clearly demonstrates a return to the old Soviet guard. The two ‘breakaway’ republics were part of Georgia, and they split due to Russian influence.
