On February 19, 2009, Rick Santelli, a CNBC business analyst, called for a taxpayer revolt. I remember the reports about it the same day. It didn’t take long for the idea to catch on with the growing, grassroots number of angry, fed-up Americans.
He made this impromptu speech on the floor of the Chicago stock exchange, in response to Obama’s massive taxpayer-funded bailouts. At about 2:12 into the speech, is when Santelli brought up the Tea Party concept.
Our country has been hijacked by a bunch of socialist autocrats. We are taking it back.
