There will be a surge in Afghanistan, similar to the one we had in Iraq. After Afghanistan is swept clean, we will have to conduct a military campaign cross the border into Pakistan. There’s no way around it. Pakistan is saturated with training camps and a government-sponsored environment that lends encouragement to Islamic terrorist groups.

And the first steps are being planned:
The U.S. military will pour thousands of troops into Afghanistan by next summer, and can expect to commit a sustained force for several more years, Defense Secretary Robert Gates and his top military commander there said Thursday.
……Just prior to his Kandahar meeting with Gen. David McKiernan, commander of U.S. and NATO troops in Afghanistan, Gates said the Pentagon is moving to get three of the four combat brigades requested by commanders into Afghanistan by late spring or early summer.
In his most specific comments to date about how soon he will meet the call for up to 20,000 more troops in Afghanistan, Gates said he will not have to cut troop levels further in Iraq to free up at least two of those three brigades for Afghan duty.
When the additions are complete, the number of U.S. troops in Afghanistan will climb to more than 50,000. Some 31,000 U.S. troops are there now.
Standing outside the military’s headquarters for southern Afghanistan, Gates was surrounded by evidence of the coming buildup. Everywhere he turned, swaths of lands within the compound were crowded with construction equipment, and skeletons of partially erected buildings stood nearby.

We’ll see if Obama actually agrees to finishing the Afghan mission, or implements his ‘negotiation without preconditions’ approach to the Taliban and Al Qaeda pukes still in the region.
I think he’ll opt for following the Euristan model by encouraging America’s Dhimmification.

…..Barack Obama plans to give “a major address” in an Islamic capital soon after taking office as he seeks to mend America’s image in the Muslim world, a Chicago Tribune interview said.
“I think we’ve got a unique opportunity to reboot America’s image around the world and also in the Muslim world in particular,” Obama said in the interview published late Tuesday on the Tribune’s website.
Obama promised an “unrelenting” desire to “create a relationship of mutual respect and partnership in countries and with peoples of good will who want their citizens and ours to prosper together.”
The world “is ready for that message.”
While he described a fresh approach to diplomacy, Obama said his administration would not shrink from the struggle against terrorism, referring to the recent attacks on India’s financial capital.
……The Tribune wrote that Obama “plans to give a major address in an Islamic capital as part of his global outreach” but did not quote him directly.
Obama also said he would be sworn on January 20 using his full name, Barack Hussein Obama.

Now, just how in the hell does Obama plan to reconcile the continuing ‘struggle against terrorism’ with sucking the cock of the Islamic world?
The problem with the idea of “rebooting America’s image around the world and also in the Muslim world in particular”, is that the “world” (especially Europe) doesn’t take the Islamic threat seriously, inspite of all the attacks on their own soil by muslim residents.
Even worse, are the ones who blame America for 9/11 and fighting back on the enemy’s turf.
The very part of the world we helped save from Nazi domination and defended against Soviet aggression, has morphed into a perverted combination of socialist and Islamic ideology. Socialism has always been a staple of European politics, but more and more we see a deferrence to the vocal muslim extremist enclaves throughout the continent.
Having said that, we face constant danger of another attack thanks to leaky borders, an incompetent Homeland Security, an inept Department of Justice, and the numerous terrorist-based muslim groups and organizations allowed to roam freely around the country.
Now, they have a soulmate headed for the White House.
As Thomas Jefferson said: “The price of freedom is eternal vigilance”.
Americans who value the freedoms and security paid for with the sacrifice of our nation’s military will be just as vigilant as Obama is obsequious.
