Aw, what a shame:
The Taleban have accused French President Nicolas Sarkozy of reneging on an election promise with his pledge to send more troops to Afghanistan.
The Afghan militant movement said they had freed two French aid workers last year because Mr Sarkozy had pledged to pull French forces out of Afghanistan.
He had said during last year’s campaign that the long-term presence of French troops in Afghanistan was not assured.
Earlier this week, France offered 700 more troops for Nato’s Afghan mission.
“The Nato-member countries are not only making baseless promises to Afghans but they do so to their respective nations,” a Taleban spokesman told AFP.
We should worry about a broken ‘promise’ made to a bunch of muslim terrorist douchebags?
With the blessing of God, the occupiers will be defeated as others have been defeated in the past,” he said.

You’re getting your turbaned asses handed to you, and you think the ‘occupiers’ are being defeated?
Which ‘occupiers’ and which ‘defeat’?

The Taliban is clustered mostly across the Pakistan border, and in Waziristan, where they can operate with relative ease.
More Taliban leaders and terrorists are being killed and offensive operations in the Helmand River Valley yielded success:

The Afghanistan economy and government are making progress:
For the first time in Afghan history, 8 million voters turned out to elect a president. A new constitution has been drafted, and a national assembly elected. The economy has doubled; more than 1,500 miles of roads have been paved; and the majority of Afghans now have access to healthcare that before was limited to a small percentage of the population. More than 50,000 Afghans have volunteered to serve in the Afghan army, and 76,000 have joined its police force.
