Ted Cruz Filibusters Against ObamaCare on Senate Floor

Mr. Cruz goes to Washington.

As dawn broke over Washington Wednesday morning, Sen.Ted Cruz still held the Senate floor, 17 hours into a filibuster designed to draw attention to the GOPs effort to defund Obamacare — and topping the length of Sen. Rand Paul’s filibuster earlier this year.

“As difficult as it is to cross one’s party leaders, I say — with perhaps a little familiarity to the consequences — that it’s survivable, and ultimately it’s liberating,” Mr. Cruz  said in the early morning hours of his talk-a-thon, which he began at 2:41 p.m. Tuesday afternoon and showed little fatigue at 5:40 the next morning.

……In his remarks, he repeatedly took aim at fellow Republicans, urging them to join him in voting against limiting debate on a stopgap spending bill that also defunds Obamacare. Many Republicans said they will vote along with Democrats to proceed with the stopgap bill because as of now it contains the defunding provisions.

You go Ted. He is one of the few Republicans who is doing exactly what he was elected to do; stand up for the people, the Constitution, and against ObamaCare.

Parting statement:

“It appears I have the floor for another 90 seconds or so. I simply want to note to the American people who have so engaged that this debate is in your hands. Ultimately all 100 senators, all 46 Republicans, all 54 Democrats work for you. The pleas from the American people, I can tell you in Texas, are deafening. The frustration that the United States Senate doesn’t listen to people is deafening. So I would call on all 46 Republicans to unite to stand together in a vote against cloture on the bill…”
