Gotta love it. A craven 1960’s Weather Underground bomber and friend of B. Hussein Obama, needs University police to keep away the opposition.
It’s been quite a turnaround for Bill Ayers. The Communist terrorist who planned bombings of police stations, in order to inflict maximum injury and death on police officers, is now depending on the police at the University of Illinois, where he is a “distinguished” professor, to protect him from the tough questions of students’ parents. In fact, one parent who presented Ayers with a Bible and a copy of Ayn Rand’s Atlas Shrugged was arrested last Thursday night and charged with the curious offense of somehow interfering with university affairs. A visibly-nervous Ayers accepted the books but quickly placed them down on a table.
Mark Thompson, the parent of the University of Illinois student, is scheduled to be in court on March 18, Wednesday, to face possible charges and be prosecuted for daring to confront Ayers.
……According to Lt. Roy Acree of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Police Department, parent Mark Thompson was arrested on a charge of “interference with a public institution of higher education” because of his activity at the Ayers lecture. Ironically, the statute (720 ILCS 5/Art. 21.2 heading) was passed “in recognition of unlawful campus disorders across the nation,” which is precisely what Ayers and his comrades in the Students for a Democratic Society were doing on college campuses in the 1960s.
The law was designed to squelch activities “which are disruptive of the educational process, dangerous to the health and safety of persons, damaging to public and private property, and which divert the use of institutional facilities from the primary function of education…”
Now, it’s being used to squelch the same free speech Ayers frothed over during his anarchist college days.
Ayers doesn’t plant bombs anymore, (that we know of) but he teaches the nihilist dogma he and his Weathermen comrades preached in the 60’s; to a new generation of gullible college students.
His syllabus includes:
……a screening of “The Weather Underground,” described as “the Oscar-nominated documentary about Bill Ayers and the rise and fall of this radical movement.”
The dates and titles of the programs were:
March 9: Yes We Can: Reflections on Campaign 2008
March 10: Fugitive Days [the title of Ayers book about his days in the terrorist Weather Underground]
March 11: Education for Democracy
March 12: The New Activism
I’m surprised Bomb Making 101 isn’t on the list.
Some background on Ayers:
His involvement in the murder of San Francisco Police Sergeant Brian V. McDonnell, as told by Larry Grathwohl, an FBI informant who infiltrated Ayer’s Weather Underground terrorist group in the 1970s:
I remember the Sunday morning in January of 1970 when it was obvious to me that the three FBI agents were upset. They wanted to know when the bombings of the Detroit Police Officers Building and the 13th precinct would take place and which members of the Weather Underground would be assigned to do it. Bill Ayers had debriefed me regarding every aspect of the plans we had developed before telling me I was being reassigned to Madison. Bill’s two major requirements were that the bombs go off at the same time and that the greatest number of police officers would be killed or injured. Both bombs were to contain fence staples or roofing nails to ensure this effect. Bill Ayers didn’t care if innocent people were also killed or injured. Bill had even gone so far as to tell us that the bomb at the 13th precinct should be placed on a window ledge. Both bombs were set four days later than originally planned but both also failed to detonate due to failures in the timing devices.
I wouldn’t see Bill Ayers again until February of 1970 in Buffalo when I returned from a day of obtaining death certificates for use in creating phony ID’s for fellow members of my new cell of Weatherman terrorists. As soon as we had all assembled, Bill began a criticism session of myself and my associates for having spent too much time preparing for actions (bombings) and not doing anything. He reminded us of the commitment all of us had made to the overthrow of the U.S. government at the National Council Meeting in Flint the previous December and how our inactivity was harming the Cubans, the Vietnamese and the Chinese. Bill went on to describe how Bernardine Dorhn, a Weather Underground central committee member and considered the leader of the Weather Underground, had to plan and commit the bombing of the Park Station in San Francisco. This bomb contained fence staples and was placed on a window ledge during a shift change ensuring the presence of the greatest number of police officers and the greatest possibility of death and injury. Several Police Officers were injured and one, Sergeant McDonnell, was killed by fence staples used in the bomb. He was in the hospital for two days before he succumbed to his injuries.
Though Ayers and Dorhn were not acquited, they were released because of legal technicalities.
When the subject came up during an interview Ayers said: “Guilty as hell, free a bird… isn’t America a wonderful country.” There’s no statute of limitations on murder. He needs to keep that in mind. I’m sure the more he opens his mouth, the FBI listens.
American universities are rife with leftover 60’s radicals; indoctrinating young people who don’t often have the sophistication or smarts to confront their ‘professors’ over their past or their communist philosophy.
Where are the parents? Are they aware of what’s being poured into the heads of their kids?
I bet many of them would be shocked to learn what kind of education their money is paying for.
As for Ayers, at the very least that fucker deserves the same consequences as Ward Churchill.
