Good for him.
During committee testimony this week in Austin, a Texas senator interrupted a Spanish speaker and telling him he should “be speaking in English” during a committee hearing.
Antolin Aguirre of the Austin Immigrant Rights Coalition was testifying against Senate Bill 9 that would help crack down on illegal immigrants in Texas. Aguirre spoke through an interpreter even though he had been in the U.S. since 1988.
Two minutes into Antolin Aguirre’s testimony, Sen. Chris Harris, a Republican from Arlington, interrupted asking Aguirre’s interrupter, “Did I understand him correctly that he has been here since 1988?” Harris asked. “Why aren’t you speaking in English then?”
……Through his interpreter, Aguirre said Spanish is his “first language and since it is his first time giving testimony he would rather do it in Spanish.”
“It is insulting to us,” Sen. Harris fired back. “It is very insulting. And if he knows English, he needs to be speaking in English.”
The fiery exchange happened on Monday during a Senate Transportation and Homeland Security Committee hearing. Law makers were hearing testimony on the purposed Senate Bill 9 – The so-called sanctuary cities bill. The bill would allow local law enforcement officials to check a suspect’s immigration status.
……Despite the blow-up The Texas Senate passed the bill Wednesday. It now goes to the House with a vote expected in the next few days.

This “immigrant rights” (READ: ILLEGAL ALIENS) representative has been in this country for 23 years, and he can’t speak adequate English. What’s wrong with that picture?
I’m with Sen. Harris. It’s insulting that illegal aliens have a lobby in this country. They come here with a list of demands instead of the intent to become legal citizens and assimilate. How about a Rights Coalition for Legal Citizens?
If Aguirre really wants something to bitch about, we could always incorporate Mexico’s immigration laws into ours.
We could also secure the border with a wall, supplemented with guard towers, high-powered rifles with scopes, night-vision equipment, roving patrols, tracking dogs, and motion sensors. Give the Border Patrol the weaponry they need to do their job. Have the Army Corps of Engineers on hand to seek and destroy the underground tunnels already in existence or currently being dug by South-of the Border thugs. Couple that with a military-directed operational approach to kicking out and keeping out illegal aliens. That would solve the problem.
In the meantime, many states have simply done what the Feds refuse to do; enforce the law.
Just in case Auirre doesn’t know, there are thousands of legal immigrants in this country who are also insulted with the criminals and radicals in La Raza and the Immigrant Rights Coalition.
Many of them belong to Americans for Legal Immigration (ALIPAC), and they’re sick and tired of Latino left-wing activist groups misleading the public by asserting that they represent the entire Latino community with the usual remarks about our country being racist, and that anyone who is against illegal immigration is against immigration.
Another group, Latino Americans for Immigration Reform minces no words when it comes to illegal aliens.
‘Sanctuary cities’ coddle illegal alien criminals and flaunt the law, bleeding heart liberals demand amnesty for “undocumented immigrants”, La Raza indoctrination has become part of the curriculum in some schools, and any attempt to enforce our country’s immigration laws is met with screams of “RACISM” from leftwing moonbats who are all too willing to compromise national sovereignty for their own political agenda.
