U.S. Institute of “Peace” Paid $130K to Ex-Taliban Fighter, Blew Millions on Private Jets and Lavish Parties, Then Deleted 1 Terabyte of Records as Trump Team Arrived

DOGE shuts down another corrupt taxpayer-funded department.

Gateway Pundit

In a jaw-dropping exposé aired on Jesse Watters Primetime, Elon Musk and members of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) task force revealed that the U.S. Institute of Peace (USIP) — a taxpayer-funded agency supposedly devoted to promoting global peace — has been caught red-handed in what amounts to a stunning abuse of power, resources, and common sense.

It can be recalled that in March, tensions boiled over when Musk’s efficiency squad, backed by FBI agents and D.C. Metro Police, stormed the institute’s headquarters, evicting its staff after days of resistance.

George Moose, the now-fired acting president of USIP, tried to cast the takeover as illegal, insisting his agency was off-limits because of its nonprofit status. But the fact remains: the institute is funded $55 million a year by taxpayer dollars and has operated with almost no real oversight.

The congressionally funded nonprofit was caught funneling taxpayer dollars to a former Taliban member, hoarding loaded weapons in its D.C. headquarters, and frantically deleting a terabyte of financial records to cover its tracks as DOGE closed in.

The DOGE team, led by Musk, revealed that USIP paid over $130,000 to Mohammad Qasem Halimi, who previously served as Afghanistan’s Minister of Hajj and Religious Affairs and as Chief of Protocol for the Taliban’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs during its first regime.

The contract, vaguely described as for “generic services,” lacked any clear justification, raising suspicions of fraud or worse.

DOGE Staffer:
So, it was by far the least peaceful agency that we’ve worked with—ironically, of course. Additionally, we found that they were spending money on things like private jets, and they even had a $130,000 contract with a former member of the Taliban. This is real. We don’t encounter that at most agencies.

Jesse Watters:
What was the money going to the Taliban for?

DOGE Staffer:
It was a contractor. They received $130,000 for generic services. And to Elon’s point, there was not actually a clear description of what the contractor services were for.

Jesse Watters:
Was it for opium?

DOGE Staffer:
Unclear.

DOGE Staffer:
And you naturally have to ask the question: how did we get here? When the country was founded, there were only four agencies. Today, there are over 400. So there’s been a 100x increase in the number of agencies since the founding of the nation.

And thanks to President Trump, he’s now signed two executive orders to start reducing the number of agencies in the government. The Institute of Peace was one of them, which is why our team went in to try and understand what was going on. And that’s when we found all of the craziness—like the weapons in their armory. We found the payments to the Taliban.

As DOGE agents entered USIP’s headquarters to investigate, they discovered the agency’s chief accountant had deleted over a terabyte of accounting records spanning years—just hours after their arrival. However, Musk’s team was able to recover the data.

According to Elon Musk, who has taken on a vocal role in rooting out federal corruption, “That’s the literal definition of a cover-up.”

DOGE didn’t stop at uncovering the scandal. The team referred evidence of the deleted records to the FBI and DOJ. Now, it’s in the hands of FBI Director Kash Patel and AG Pam Bondi to make sure these corrupt bureaucrats are held accountable and brought to justice.

DOGE Staffer:
Just a few hours after we got into their headquarters, we found that their chief accountant had actually deleted over a terabyte of accounting records from several years. So you’d have to ask the question: why would somebody do that?

The DOGE team, fortunately, was able to recover that data with the help of a few great employees at the Institute of Peace. And I think the most troubling thing was they received $55 million a year from Congress.

Any money that went unspent, instead of returning it to Congress, they’d sweep it into a private bank account which had no congressional oversight. And that’s what they would use to fund things like events at their headquarters and the private jets. So I think it’s a great example, because most Americans don’t know what’s going on at a lot of these smaller agencies. And this, I think, is the most extreme case of wasteful spending we’re finding.

Jesse Watters:
So the agencies are hiding money from you. They’re sending it to the Taliban. They have loaded weapons in the department buildings?

DOGE Staffer:
At the Institute of Peace.

Jesse Watters:
At the Institute of Peace?

DOGE Staffer:
Yeah, that’s right.

Jesse Watters:
So this is a cover-up when you guys roll in on this one?

Elon Musk:
Yes, a cover-up. It’s a cover-up. They did delete a vast amount of financial information. That’s really the definition of a cover-up.

Jesse Watters:
Isn’t that illegal—to delete evidence?

Elon Musk:
Yes.

Jesse Watters:
To shred documents, it is.

DOGE Staffer:
It’s certainly illegal to delete accounting records that Congress would want to know about—especially regarding where the congressionally appropriated funds are going.

Jesse Watters:
From taxpayers—theirs. When you catch them going Hillary-style on their computers, do you refer this to the Department of Justice in this case?

DOGE Staffer:
We did refer the evidence, in the accounting example, to the FBI and DOJ. We were proud to do that. So yes, we did.

At 09:40 into the video:

Every one of the agencies that DOGE disposes of, goes down kicking and screaming with tantrums and chaotic attempts to conceal their crimes.

DOGE needs to name the individuals and departments who signed off on this shit. Indictments, trials, and convictions should be carried out just as efficiently as DOGE finds the fraud.
