I wonder how long this dog and pony tactic will last.
In a bid to remake the enforcement of federal immigration laws, the Obama administration is deporting record numbers of illegal immigrants and auditing hundreds of businesses that blithely hire undocumented workers.
The Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency expects to deport about 400,000 people this fiscal year, nearly 10 percent above the Bush administration’s 2008 total and 25 percent more than were deported in 2007. The pace of company audits has roughly quadrupled since President George W. Bush’s final year in office.
The effort is part of Obama’s larger project “to make our national laws actually work,” as he put it in a speech this month at American University. Partly designed to entice Republicans to support comprehensive immigration reform, the mission is proving difficult and politically perilous.
“Make our national laws actually work”…..HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA…….*deep breath*……… HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. That Obama, what a card.
His half-assed attempt to sell this as a tough policy is belied by the facts. The “increase” of deportations between 2008 and 2009 went from 369,221 to just 387,790. 18,569 is a fucking drop in the bucket. 227,163 is the total deported so far this year, according to ICE. August 31, 2009, the Border Patrol reported 519,394 apprehensions. Those are just the ones that were actually caught.
Now, take a look at the above numbers and see if they make a dent in the 11 million illegal vermin—that we know of— and the constant invasion of illegals crossing the border every day.
Idiots like Janet Napolitano and B. Hussein Obama are chasing their tails, trying to play catch up with the illegals already here, without securing the border in a decisive manner.
Nah, they’d rather harass the state of Arizona for having the guts to do what the federal government will not.
