Nigeria is run by the All Progressives Congress (APC), described as:
“…..a “big tent” party with diverse internal factions, including support for social conservatism and federalism, while also embracing progressive economic policies such as controlled market systems and government regulation. It has been characterized as a centrist party with center-left economic views and right-wing social views, advocating for effective governance, job creation, economic diversification, and the fight against corruption. The party has also been a consultative member of the Socialist International due to its center-left economic stance.”
In spite of the “centrist party” designation, they’re not doing a fucking thing to stop the carnage.
Nigerian soil continues to be drenched with Christian blood, according to a new report.
The website Genocide Watch says that latest eruptions of attacks against Christians “have left more than 48 Christians killed and hundreds of homes reduced to ashes.”
Fr. George Dogo of Holy Family Cathedral said victims get no protection from the Nigerian military.
“When my parishioners report ongoing or impending attacks, the military may not show at all. And if they come, they ask what kind of guns the terrorists are carrying—and afterwards disappear,” he said.
……..Another new report said a Catholic priest was kidnapped from his home, according to aciAfrica.
Fr. Emmanuel Ezema, who serves at St. Peter’s Catholic Church Rumi, was abducted on Tuesday at around 11:30 p.m.
In early November, President Donald Trump said he expected Nigeria to take seriously the calls for protecting Christians.
The Trump administration has listed Nigeria as a County of Particular Concern for its laxity in affirming religious freedom.
Republican Rep. Riley Moore of West Virginia noted that in a recent meeting with Nigerian officials, “I made it crystal clear that the United States must see tangible steps to ensure that Christians are not subject to violence, persecution, displacement, and death simply for believing in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”
“We stand ready to work cooperatively with the Nigerians to help their nation combat the terrorism perpetrated by Boko Haram, ISWAP, and Fulani militants against their population, specifically Christians in the Northeast and Middle Belt regions of Nigeria,” he continued.
The largest mass kidnapping in Nigerian history took place Friday as more than 300 Christians were abducted.
The kidnap of 303 students and 12 teachers from St. Mary’s School in Niger state came three weeks after President Donald Trump demanded the Nigerian government act to end the persecution of Christians.
Previously, the largest mass kidnapping in Nigeria had 276 victims, according to the BBC.
“I think Nigeria is a disgrace. The whole thing is a disgrace,” Trump said in a Friday interview, according to The New York Times. “They’re killing people by the thousands. It’s a genocide. And I’m really angry about it.”
The Trump administration has flagged Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern, a category of nations that restrict religious freedom.
Boko Haram is the leading Islamic terrorist group in Nigeria. It seeks to transform all of Nigeria into an Islamic state governed by strict Sharia law. It rejects all Western cultural, political, and scientific traditions, and has killed thousands of people and destroyed hundreds of Christian churches.
Strong condemnations don’t work.
