The following excerpts are from a report published by former Ambassador Thomas Pickering and retired Chairman of the Joint Chief of Staff Admiral Mike Mullen. Apparently, they found “multiple systemic failures” within the State Department’s handling of security measures for the American embassy in Benghazi, but couldn’t seem to uncover the specific people responsible for the decisions that led to the murder of four Americans.
“Systemic failures and leadership and management deficiencies at senior levels within two bureaus of the State Department (the “Department”) resulted in a Special Mission security posture that was inadequate for Benghazi and grossly inadequate to deal with the attack that took place….”
Fuckin’ really???
Systemic failures like depraved indifference, refusal to grant Ambassador Steven’s request for added security, telling the embassy personnel to “stand down” and not protect themselves, blaming a video for the attack, and basically scurrying back into the woodwork like cockroaches when the kitchen light got turned on.
“Accountability”? Forget it.
“The Board found that certain senior State Department officials within two bureaus in critical positions of authority and responsibility in Washington demonstrated a lack of proactive leadership and management ability appropriate for the State Department’s senior ranks in their responses to security concerns posed by Special Mission Benghazi, given the deteriorating threat environment and the lack of reliable host government protection. However, the Board did not find that any individual U.S. Government employee engaged in misconduct or willfully ignored his or her responsibilities, and, therefore did not find reasonable cause to believe that an individual breached his or her duty so as to be the subject of a recommendation for disciplinary action.”
What a goddamned whitewash.
Who gave the order to stand down?
Who sent the drone to be used as a voyeur instead of a counter-attack weapon?
Who in the State Department made the decision to pull out three Mobile Security Deployment teams in August of 2012, telling the embassy to “do more with less”?
Who kept refusing to send extra security to the embassy?
Who exactly in the Obama regime went to all the trouble to scour the bowels of the YouTube library for an obscure video to blame for what was part of the muzzie rampage that had been going on for 21 months?
Pickering and Mullen need a smack upside the head with a clue bat.
Only three Obama regime officials (so far) have resigned in the wake of the report:
Eric Boswell, the assistant secretary of state for diplomatic security, and Charlene Lamb, the deputy assistant secretary responsible for embassy security, “stepped down under pressure after the release of the report.”
……A third employee who works for the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs has also stepped down but has not yet been identified….
The responsibility for this goes all the way to Obama. But, as with the rest of his malfeasance, none of the fallout from Benghazi will bring the son of a bitch the impeachment and prison sentence he deserves. And besides, the New York Times insists he covered up everything so as not to let Al Qaeda know we were on to them. Wow. With brilliant analysis like that, who the hell needs the State Department?
