AP CEO: 9/11 Hurt First Amendment

More hypocrisy from the Associated Press:

WASHINGTON – The shadow of the Sept. 11 terror attacks is eclipsing press freedom and other constitutional safeguards in the United States, Associated Press President and CEO Tom Curley said Thursday.

“What has become clear in the aftermath of 9/11 is how much expediency trumps safeguards,” Curley said during the annual dinner of the Radio and Television News Directors Foundation.

“Congress steps back from its constitutional role of executive oversight. Civilian oversight of the military wanes. A Justice Department interprets laws in ways that extend police powers. More drastically, prisons are established in places where government or military operatives circumvent due process or control trials,” Curley said in accepting the foundation’s First Amendment Leadership Award.

“It’s at moments like these when a free press matters most,” he said.

Curley was selected for his role in pushing for more openness in government and for emphasizing reporting on First Amendment issues. That includes efforts by the AP to establish the Sunshine in Government Initiative, a news media coalition that presses for strengthening Freedom of Information laws and for greater government openness.

Hey Curley, how ’bout a little “sunshine” in the reporting slant of the Associated Press? Your reputation as a ‘guardian’ of free speech could use a little work, especially in light of your treatment of critics, like Brian Ledbetter.

Or when you use terrorist collaborators as ‘photographers’

The AP has a publishing policy in accordance with their leftist agenda, and Curley has the unmitigated gall to hyperventilate about “waning civilian oversight of the military” and “eclipsing press freedom and other constitutional safeguards”.

What. An. Asshole.

If anything, the Fifth Column has done everything guaranteed by the Constitution  to undermine  the security of the United States. They portray al Qaeda and the Taliban (what’s left of them) in a favorable light, denigrate the American military as ‘occupiers’, print national secrets across their front pages, and snivel about FISA and the Patriot Act as if the government has nothing else better to do than to eavesdrop on Curley’s phone sex.

See how the MSM operates? It’s not the Islamic terrorists who threaten our way of life and whom we should stand against; it’s the courageous American armed forces and the government security measures that frighten him.

That’s the way Curley; bad mouth the ones who protect and serve the country. Piss and moan about what it takes to catch terrorists before they can kill another 3000 people on this soil.

He should be so unfortunate to be subjected to real oppression of free speech, under the systems whitewashed by the Associated Press.

You gotta wonder about organizations who give hacks like Curley a “Free Speech Award”.

But then again, Jimmy Carter and Al Gore got the Nobel, didn’t they?

If the first Amendment is dead, as Tom Curley, why is he allowed to speak out in public. If we lived in the police state that Mr Curley thinks we are in, the annual dinner of the Radio and Television News Directors Foundation would be raided faster than any Prohibition speakeasy.
