There’s just no limit to the arrogance of the AP. They propose paying up to $100 for the privilege of citing news items that they themselves have gleaned from other sources:
The pricing scale for excerpting AP content begins at $12.50 for 5-25 words and goes as high as $100 for 251 words and up. Nonprofit organizations and educational institutions enjoy a discounted rate.

It’s a known fact that staff writers for news outlets simply re-write information to expand the content and in the AP’s case, show bias.
