Cornelius was the host of ‘Soul Train’ from 1971 until 1993. I used to watch it when I was a teenager in the 70’s.
Don Cornelius, the host and creator of TV music and dance show “Soul Train,” committed suicide Wednesday… The 75-year-old, who had been in ill health, shot himself to death in his Los Angeles home around 4 a.m., police said, and was pronounced dead about an hour later. The popular program, which helped launch the careers of many rhythm & blues, soul and hip-hop stars, was on the air from 1970 to 2006…
