Say it ain’t so.
In the Senate, Democrats in the so called “Gang of Six,” a group of bipartisan senators on the Senate Finance Committee which is the last panel yet to release its bill, began moving quickly to close the loophole that Wilson helped bring greater attention to.
My gawd, a Republican with balls.
In an extraordinary breach of congressional decorum, a Republican lawmaker shouted “You lie” at President Barack Obama during his speech to Congress Wednesday.
The incident came directly after Obama said, “There are also those who claim that our reform effort will insure illegal immigrants. This, too, is false. The reforms I’m proposing would not apply to those who are here illegally.”
“You lie!” Rep. Joe Wilson, R-S.C., shouted from his seat on the Republican side of the chamber.
Screw Obama. His illegal alien “Aunti Zeituni” sits protected in public housing and has yet to be deported.
Republicans have submitted something called the Heller Amendment, which would have provided a clause that excludes illegal immigrants, by applying the existing SAVE program. (Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements). Democrats, of course, voted against this along party lines, thus killing it in the ways and means committee. I’ve read HR 3200.
SEC. 246. NO FEDERAL PAYMENT FOR UNDOCUMENTED ALIENS
Nothing in this subtitle shall allow Federal payments for affordability credits on behalf of individuals who are not lawfully present in the United States.
It does absolutely nothing to eliminate the ones ALREADY leeching off of the public healthcare system. Nor does it prevent them from continuing to do so. Which means the door to taxpayer-funded care for illegals is as wide open as the fucking border.
Steny Hoyer regurgitated the usual Dem hypocrisy:
House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, D-Md., said “I have never in my 29 years heard an outburst of that nature with reference to a president of the United States speaking as a guest of the House and Senate.”
He must have forgotten about this:
The same Dems who are bitching about ‘polite decorum’ are the same ones who booed, mocked, and heckled Bush throughout the 2005 State of the Union Address.
JOHN ROBERTS (CBS White House correspondent): At a couple points in this address, it looked more like the British Parliament than the United States Congress. I’ve never heard the minority party shout at the president during the State of the Union address. [CBS, post-speech coverage, 2/2/05]
JOE SCARBOROUGH (former U.S. representative (R-FL) and MSNBC host): After the Democrats booed and hissed, Republicans were on the floor saying, you know, we never once did that to Clinton. So every time he would talk about Social Security, the roars got a little louder. And they got behind their president. [MSNBC, Hardball, 2/2/05]
Of course, Wilson’s outburst was followed by Democrats spewing indignation, and chiding from Republicans who didn’t have the guts to say the same thing, or better yet, walk out. You just can’t call a liar a liar to their face, especially when it’s the illustrious Obamessiah.
All Wilson did was say what we’re all thinking…or shouting at the TV set.
