At least some people have guts…
A small group of conservative Christians tore some pages from a Quran in a protest outside the White House to denounce what they called the “charade of Islam” on the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.
“Part of why we’re doing that, please hear me: the charade that Islam is a peaceful religion must end,” said Randall Terry, a leading anti-abortion campaigner, and one of six people who took part in the protest.
Another activist, Andrew Beacham, read out a few Quran passages calling for hatred towards Christians and Jews, and then ripped those pages from an English paperback edition
of the Islamic holy book. He carefully put the torn pieces into a plastic bag, in order not to litter, and said: “The only reason I will not burn it at the White House is because to burn anything on the Capitol grounds is a felony.” Beacham, who describes himself as a leader of the right wing conservative Tea Party from Indiana, added: “The Twin Towers were taken down because of the Koran and other religious teachings.”
Thousands of rowdy protestors with dueling agendas converged on Lower Manhattan today, using the spotlight of 9/11 as a showcase for the Ground Zero mosque debate.
Both sides drew large, boisterous crowds with about 3,000 pro-mosque demonstrators marching from City Hall to the Federal Building and 2,500 anti-mosque protestors rallying near the controversial Park Place site of the proposed Islamic Center.
No arrests have been reported, though things got heated when several college kids agitated a group of anti-mosque demonstrators.
Anti-mosque rally leader Pam Geller opened the demonstration with a moment of silence — but it was loud and rowdy from there on.
A trumpet player played TAPS, the crowd sang “The Star Spangled Banner,” waved American flags and chanted U-S-A.
“Every year it’s bad,” Nelly Braginsky, who lost her 38-year old son Alex in the towers, told the crowd. “Nobody can bring me back my son. … It’s not about freedom of religion. This is about geography.”
Geert Wilders, politician from Holland and keynote speaker asked the crowd: “Did New York deserve this? Did America deserve this? Did the West deserve this?”
The crowd answered with shouts of “NO!”
“We do not deserve a mosque at Ground Zero either,” he told them. “We are here today because we have not forgotten. … When the faces of Jihad attacked New York, they attacked the world.”
And of course, the muslim extremist pigs issued the requisite fatwas:
Two Iranian grand ayatollahs issued fatwas calling for the killing of those who insult the Koran, including anyone who burns the Islamic holy book, the state-run Fars news agency reported.
No one was specified in the decrees, which were issued by Nasser Makarem-Shirazi and Hossein Nouri-Hamedani in response to questions asked by student groups from universities in Tehran, Fars said. Such an action against any individual could only be carried out with the authorization of an Islamic religious judge, they said.
“Undoubtedly, the blood of a person who burns the Koran should be shed,” Makarem-Shirazi was cited by Fars as saying.
Hey, ya know what, Shirazi? I think the blood of every muslim who inflicts violence in the name of your allah, should be shed. I think that anyone who supports your bat-shit crazy theocracy ought to be removed from the gene pool.
Burned, shredded, or flushed; that’s a fitting treatment for a 7th Century Islamic screed.
It’s about time Americans got pissed off at the Islamist incursion in America. 9/11 should have been the wake up call, but incredibly, they got complacent. There are muslim extremists all over this country, and we ignore the threat at our own peril.
