New White House Spokespiece: Carney Part II

Picking up where Spokeskid Carney left off.

From BizPac Review.

Monday marked the first day on the job for new White House press secretary Josh Earnest, and if the end of the day’s press briefing is any indication, the new guy is in for an interesting tenure.

The Washington Free Beacon reported that Real Clear Politics reporter Alexis Simendinger admonished Earnest for denying the White House had any calls to read out between Obama and foreign leaders about the Iraq crisis.

According to Simendinger, the president had spoken with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The exchange, as reported by Free Beacon:

“You got asked earlier,” Simendinger angrily pointed out to Earnest.

Earnest rudely answered, “Uh well, Alexis, you don’t have to get all exercised about this.”

A reporter jumped to Simendinger’s defense. “She’s not getting exercised, she’s telling you what it is,” the reporter said to Earnest.

Simendinger did not back down. “We asked you a question. You should answer the question.”

“I did,” Earnest defensively told her.

“No, you didn’t. You said you had no calls to read out,” Simendinger responded.

Earnest attempted to clarify what he had said. “I was asked if the president had questions with world leaders about the situation in Iraq,” he said.

Earnest is also displaying the trademark arrogance of his predecessor:

The new White House Press Secretary, Josh Ernest, is maintaining the same narrative as his predecessor by insisting that, in spite of the “13 months of multiple congressional investigations, including 14 congressional hearings, 30 interviews with IRS employees, 50 written congressional requests, and 750,000 pages of documents… all of that has done nothing to substantiate false Republican claims of a broader political conspiracy.”

Earnest went on to say, “But the fact of the matter is we’ve cooperated extensively; and despite that cooperation, we’ve seen continued allegations of Republican conspiracy theories that just never pan out.”

Last week, the IRS informed a somewhat incredulous Congress that it had lost two years of e-mails belonging to former IRS official Lois Lerner.

Lie, deny, spin, and dismiss. Same shit, different day at the White House.
