From The Hill.
The Obama administration is refusing to publicly release more than 500 documents on the IRS’s targeting of Tea Party groups.
Twenty months after the IRS scandal broke, there are still many unanswered questions about who was spearheading the agency’s scrutiny of conservative-leaning organizations.
The Hill sought access to government documents that might provide a glimpse of the decision-making through a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request.
The Hill asked for 2013 emails and other correspondence between the IRS and the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA). The request specifically sought emails from former IRS official Lois Lerner and Treasury officials, including Secretary Jack Lew, while the inspector general was working on its explosive May 2013 report that the IRS used “inappropriate criteria” to review the political activities of tax-exempt groups.
Obama, Lerner, and the IRS used ‘Tea Party’ as the criteria. Obama knew what was going on and had a hand in it.
Under Obama’s direction, the IRS didn’t have any trouble defining his preference of sympathetic leftwing groups over Tea Party/GOP organizations.
Obama met with top IRS official William Wilkins before the targeting began. As a matter of fact, a Cincinnati IRS employee testified that it was quite clear the orders came from D.C.
TIGTA opted not to release any of the 512 documents covered by the request, citing various exemptions in the law.
Translation: The Obama regime thinks it’s exempt from the law.
……congressional Republicans say there is no evidence of any prosecution in the works, and media outlets have indicated that the Department of Justice and the FBI have already determined that no charges will be filed.
Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) notes that eight months after Lerner was held in contempt of Congress for not testifying at two hearings, the matter has not yet been referred to a grand jury. The contempt citation is in the hands of Ronald Machen, the U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia who was appointed by Obama.
Asked for comment on the administration’s FOIA response to The Hill, Jordan said, “It’s par for the course. We’ve had a difficult time getting information from the IRS and the Department of Justice.” Jordan, a senior member of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, has held numerous hearings on the IRS scandal.
Yeah, the DOJ will get right on it. As soon as Holder is indicted for his role in Fast and Furious gunrunning, and violating the 4th Amendment, and Obama is prosecuted for his crimes.
A rundown of IRS corruption under Lerner’s regime:
According to 2012 emails obtained by the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, top Internal Revenue Service Obamacare official Sarah Hall Ingram discussed confidential taxpayer information with senior Obama White House officials.
Lois Lerner, then head of the IRS Tax Exempt Organizations division, also received an email alongside White House officials that contained confidential information. More emails uncover Lerner’s role in the conspiracy, including proof that she gave confidential taxpayer information to the FEC, violating federal law.
J. Christian Adams, the former DOJ attorney who blew the whistle on Holder’s refusal to prosecute the Black Panthers for voter intimidation, was himself targeted by the IRS for critical articles he published in Pajamas Media.
The IRS engaged in the deliberate suppression, harassment, and intimidation of patriotic and conservative groups, and those who focus on the Constitution and criticize government spending, with Obama’s blessing.
Bottom line: No one in the entire Obama regime, including the Corruptocrat-in-Chief is being held accountable for their crimes. Instead, they’re paraded in front of Congressional hearings where hot air passes for real prosecution because the GOP lacks the balls to stop them.
