It was over 4000 words of self-indulgent bullshit.
He kicked off his
photo op speech with the obligatory ass kissing to Islam:
As we know, these men belonged to al Qaeda – a group of extremists who have distorted and defiled Islam, one of the world’s great religions……
The Koran says to kill the infidels; Christians, Jews, and the “unbelievers”. What exactly did they do to “distort and defile” this “great religion”?
Then he followed up with the requisite “it’s all Bush’s fault” slant, in spite of the fact that it took this idiot three full months to make a wartime decision that’s imperative to ensure the success of the Afghanistan mission, during the next 12 months. Obama is going to give less than half—30,000 troops—of the 40-60,000 that General McCrystal requested.
It is enough to say that for the next six years, the Iraq War drew the dominant share of our troops, our resources, our diplomacy, and our national attention – and that the decision to go into Iraq caused substantial rifts between America and much of the world.
Today, after extraordinary costs, we are bringing the Iraq war to a responsible end.
Rifts….between those who saw and understood that Saddam Hussein was a viable threat, and those who still deny that he had ties to terrorism and developed the very WMD program he had in his possession. Obama alluded to the 2005 Iraq/Zarqawi-sponsored terrorist attack in Amman Jordan, thereby acknowledging albeit briefly, Saddam Hussein’s connection.
We must keep the pressure on al Qaeda, and to do that, we must increase the stability and capacity of our partners in the region. Of course, this burden is not ours alone to bear. This is not just America’s war. Since 9/11, al Qaeda’s safe havens have been the source of attacks against London and Amman and Bali.
James Taranto discusses the admission at WSJ: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704107104574571952366336652.html
He basically told the Cadets that his socialist ‘fundamental transformation’ of America is more important than our national security and providing the Army with the funds it needs to attain victory in Afghanistan.
As President, I refuse to set goals that go beyond our responsibility, our means, our or interests. And I must weigh all of the challenges that our nation faces. I do not have the luxury of committing to just one. Indeed, I am mindful of the words of President Eisenhower, who – in discussing our national security – said, “Each proposal must be weighed in the light of a broader consideration: the need to maintain balance in and among national programs.”
The war on Islamic aggression takes a back seat to driving this country into economic oblivion to support his socialist kleptocracy. Sorry folks, I need to spend your money on bailouts, government takeover of private industry, ‘stimulus’ packages, the cap and trade scam, and government-run ObamaCare. Ya know, spread the wealth.
Over the past several years, we have lost that balance, and failed to appreciate the connection between our national security and our economy. In the wake of an economic crisis, too many of our friends and neighbors are out of work and struggle to pay the bills, and too many Americans are worried about the future facing our children. Meanwhile, competition within the global economy has grown more fierce. So we simply cannot afford to ignore the price of these wars.
So much for the courageous principle of “pay any price, bear any burden” to protect America. It’s been replaced with “peace-at-any-price”.
It will only cost $30 billion dollars a year to send the troops needed—less than one fifth of the $176 billion deficit in October alone. (http://online.wsj.com/article/SB125805524231245829.html)
But the economic crisis, including the trillions of dollars in deficit he’s created thus far, is apparently ‘worth it’.
He could have paid for the monetary cost of this war several times all ready. Remember the first “stimulus”? The initial $800 billion dollars Obama forked over from the treasury exceeded the total cost of the war in Iraq and Afghanistan combined. http://blogs.reuters.com/frontrow/2009/01/29/us-stimulus-to-cost-more-than-iraq-afghan-war-so-far/
And by the way, he plans on starting a withdrawal in 18 months. He must have a brilliant strategy of winning Afghanistan by 2011, in spite of his comment that ‘victory isn’t necessarily the goal’. The Taliban will continue to cool their heels inside Pakistan safe havens and simply wait out THE ONE’s “strategy”. Right now, Bin Laden is laughing his ass off at this clown.
Here’s a thought: Let’s come home…after we crush the fuckers. Unleash the United States Army to do what they do best; kill the bad guys. Stop restricting the war effort. Use every weapon in our vast arsenal to bring the Islamic jihadist swine to their knees. In other words, do what it takes to achieve victory.
How’s that for strategy?
Obama stood up in front of an audience of young Soldiers, soon to be warriors, and insulted them.
……First, we will pursue a military strategy that will break the Taliban’s momentum and increase Afghanistan’s capacity over the next 18 months.
The so-called strategy he pulled out of his ass will not accomplish that.
More bowing to Islam:
And we have forged a new beginning between America and the Muslim World – one that recognizes our mutual interest in breaking a cycle of conflict, and that promises a future in which those who kill innocents are isolated by those who stand up for peace and prosperity and human dignity.
“Mutual interest” in “breaking a cycle of conflict” and standing up for “peace and prosperity and human dignity” is not part of Islamic culture. They didn’t get the meme.
General Stanley McCrystal is an experienced commander and counter-insurgency expert. Obama doesn’t have the guts or the intelligence to leave the heavy lifting to those equipped to handle such things.

The word “victory” doesn’t appear anywhere.
