Boo Fucking Hoo.
Democrats are turning their fire on Scott Rasmussen, the prolific independent pollster whose surveys on elections, Obama’s popularity and a host of other issues are surfacing in the media with increasing frequency.
The pointed attacks reflect a hardening conventional wisdom among prominent liberal bloggers and many Democrats that Rasmussen Reports polls are, at best, the result of a flawed polling model and, at worst, designed to undermine Democratic politicians and the party’s national agenda.
That’s a funny accusation, considering the Dems specialize in undermining things….like our national security and economy.
On progressive-oriented (READ: LEFTWING) websites, anti-Rasmussen sentiment is an article of faith. “Rasmussen Caught With Their Thumb on the Scale,” blared the Daily Kos this summer. “Rasmussen Reports, You Decide,” the blog Swing State Project recently headlined in a play on the Fox News motto.
……While Scott Rasmussen, the firm’s president, contends that he has no ax to grind — his bio notes that he has been “an independent pollster for more than a decade” and “has never been a campaign pollster or consultant for candidates seeking office” — his opponents on the left insist he is the hand that feeds conservative talkers a daily trove of negative numbers that provides grist for attacks on Obama and the Democratic Party.
Nothing, however, sets off liberal teeth gnashing more than Rasmussen’s daily presidential tracking polls, which throughout the year have consistently placed Obama’s approval numbers around 5 percentage points lower than other polling outfits.
It could be that Rasmussen polls actually constuct their questions with a bit more thought and conclusion, like so:
In August, for example, Rasmussen asked respondents whether they agreed or disagreed with the statement “It’s always better to cut taxes than to increase government spending because taxpayers, not bureaucrats, are the best judges of how to spend their money.”
Rasmussen’s critics object to the data and “the way the firm frames questions in its automated polls”, which are the staple of its work.
That’s what has the Left’s panties in a wad. Polls that don’t fit their narrative. A Poll that actually gives the participant a different choice when reading the question.
They think nothing of the way the Leftwing MSM skews its questions in order to get the desired outcome.
Not one liberal blogger or Dem politician has a problem with the way a left-leaning rag like The New York Times frames its questions to get anticipated answers: http://sfcmac.wordpress.com/2009/06/22/new-york-times-rigs-obamacare-poll/
Or when the WaPo buries its own poll because it doesn’t like the results.
Beware of the moonbats who don’t like the poll results;you might get death threats for not towing the Party line:
If you think the Left is pissed now, just wait until they get aload of the latest Rasmussen Polls:
The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Monday shows that 26% of the nation’s voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Forty-one percent (41%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -15 (see trends).
The number of Democrats in the United States has fallen to the lowest level in at least seven years. Still, the GOP has not gained ground. Instead, the number of unaffiliated voters has jumped.
In December, the number of Americans identifying themselves as Democrats fell to the lowest level recorded in more than seven years of monthly tracking by Rasmussen Reports.
Currently, 35.5% of American adults view themselves as Democrats. That’s down from 36.0 a month ago and from 37.8% in October. Prior to December, the lowest total ever recorded for Democrats was 35.9%, a figure that was reached twice in 2005.
Newsflash for the lefties: Gallup’s polls don’t look too favorably on the Dems either:
Joe Klein, one of Time Magazine’s leftie hacks, actually blames Obama’s bottomed-out popularity on the media:
Botton line: Americans are pissed at the hubris, arrogance, and corruption of Obama and the Democratic Party, and the polls reflect that. If the Left wants to shoot the messenger, they need better ammunition.
