From Fox News.
Mitt Romney is sticking by his comments captured in a video at a fundraiser earlier this year in which he told donors that President Obama’s base supporters are “reliant on government,” don’t pay taxes and “believe they are victims.”
……Romney, while saying his phrasing was not ideal, stood by the premise of his remarks, which reportedly came from a fundraiser in Florida.
……But he continued: “It’s a message which I am going to carry and continue to carry, which is that the president’s approach is attractive to people who are not paying taxes because frankly my discussion about lowering taxes isn’t as attractive to them. Therefore I’m not likely to draw them into my campaign as effectively as those in the middle.”
……”I believe the point I was made is that the president starts off with a large number of the voters, 47, 48, 49 percent, something like that. These are people who are in his camp and they will vote for him almost no matter what,” he said.”Of course there’s a very different approach of the two different campaigns, as I point out I recognize that among those that pay no tax, approximately 47 percent of Americans, I’m not likely to be highly successful with the message of lowering taxes. That’s not as attractive to those who don’t pay income taxes as it is to those who do. And likewise those who are reliant on government are not as attracted to my message of slimming down the size of government. And so I then focus on those individuals who I believe are most likely to be able to be pulled into my camp.”
Nearly half of the people in this country don’t pay federal income taxes. Over 40% are on welfare, including food stamps. As a matter of fact, it has climbed to a record 46.7% since Obama took office.
As of August 2012, 142,101,000 Americans were working and 8,767,941 were on disability –meaning there were only 16.2 people working for each person collecting disability.
Don’t think for one minute that the DemLeft minds keeping the poor and minorities in their place. It gives them a demographic to exploit while mouthing platitudes about evil rich (white) corporate owners versus the workers. The myth of the Left being for the working class and minorities has been wrung for all it’s worth. It’s part and parcel of a party that uses exploitation as a campaign pitch for a target audience; a monolithic, easily manipulated voting bloc that is all too willing to participate.
The entitlement culture will always expect a hand out, and the Dems will always be there to give it to them. Why work when you can suck off the public teat? That’s the message to blacks and Hispanics. The bigotry of low expectations. Your color entitles you to special treatment. You’re downtrodden because the eeeeevil white folks made you ‘needy’. Don’t worry about getting a job, the working class will do that and pay for your welfare, to boot.
Minorities are used to push the Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac scam, illegal aliens, voter fraud, unconstitutional ObamaCare, class war, and abject hatred of successful business. The same people who buy into that shit and keep voting Dems into office are the same ones who thrive on the welfare state. For them, poverty is a political angle and a lifestyle, not something to get out of.
Ugly facts about perpetual able-bodied government dependents, makes the Left go ape shit.
wow i am always amazed to hear opinions that fail to make truth. The truth is i don’t pay taxes and i don’t mind it.It is my choice my freedom my right my vote is clear.
Blake,
The truth is, you probably don’t work, never have, never will, and have probably sucked off the public teat all of your life.
I mind because my taxes pay for slugs like you. You’re one of those lazy government dependents Romney spoke of.
Derelict.
