On Friday, news broke that a settlement in principle was reached in the Ashli Babbitt wrongful death lawsuit brought against the US government by the Babbitt family.
Judicial Watch brought forth this lawsuit and has represented the family for years.
The Gateway Pundit has extensively covered this lawsuit since it was filed in January 2024.
The lawsuit extensively details the history of incompetence and multiple revocations of firearm privileges for previous dangerous incidents involving Officer Michael Byrd, the Capitol Police officer who murdered Babbitt in cold blood.
This includes a failure “to meet or complete semiannual firearms qualification requirements,” leaving a “loaded Glock 22—the same firearm he used to shoot and kill Ashli Babbitt – in a bathroom in the Capitol Visitor Center,” and a shooting into a moving vehicle stolen by teenagers, where the off-duty cop reportedly struck homes nearby with his bullets.
“Lt. Byrd had a reputation among peers for not being a good shot,” the lawsuit alleges.
As the third anniversary of Jan. 6 approaches, Judicial Watch has filed a $30 million wrongful death suit against the federal government for the Capitol Police shooting of Air Force veteran Ashli Babbitt.
The Washington Examiner reports that the suit was filed on behalf of Babbitt’s estate and her husband, Aaron Babbitt, and claims the officer who shot Babbitt was “incompetent” and “dangerous” and should have recognized Babbitt posed no threat to Congress when she entered the House speaker’s lobby.
The radical leftist judge on the case, Ana Reyes SCREAMED at both sides in the courtroom.

Byrd was eventually promoted in spite of the fact that he’s a fuck up and a disciplinary nightmare.
Just some of the shit he’s pulled:
- A 2004 incident where Byrd, who was off duty, fired his weapon at a stolen vehicle as it was fleeing his residential neighborhood;
- A 2015 “conduct unbecoming an officer” complaint filed by a fellow officer after Byrd, again off duty, confronted him while the officer was working at a high school football game in an incident with racial overtones;
- A 33-day suspension in 2019 after Byrd left his service weapon unattended in a public Capitol Hill bathroom;
- A failure to pass a routine background check shortly after Jan. 6 when attempting to purchase a shotgun for home protection, after the USCP worked to provide Byrd a department-issued shotgun instead, he failed the training; and
- Three further referrals to the Capitol Police Office of Professional Responsibility for which records are reportedly missing.
That pig shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near a gun or position of authority.
He should have been charged with murder.
There were three other murders by capitol cops on J6.
Lila Morris, Harry Dunn, and Aquilino Gonell, are the capitol cops who brutally beat Rosanne Boyland to death. None of them were charged.
A pepper ball grenade struck Benjamin Phillips which stopped his heart, caused him to collapse, and ultimately took his life.
Kevin Greeson also fell victim to the barrage of grenades thrown into the crowd by capitol cops.
The grenades were launched randomly and without provocation.
The Biden regime’s corrupt weaponized government goons engaged in the systematic bashing of civil liberties using the 6 January protest as justification for their authoritarian reign of terror, while the Antifa/BLM thugs rampaged across the country committing arson, vandalism, assaults and murder, without consequences.
Ashli Babbitt died while protesting government corruption.
She did not die in vain.
